Download Instructions The download page provides several options for importing data back into your applications. The Excel template will automatically format the data within the commadelimited file. The comma-delimited and XML file are standard file formats that will enable you to upload data into any spreadsheet or database application. The download options will prompt you to save the file to the default location with the option to change the file location. It is recommend that you create a file folder. This will enable you to store all of your files in one location. To create a new file folder: Open Windows Explorer. Click on the drive. On the File menu, point to New and then click Folder. Find New Folder in the Window Explorer pane. Change the new folder name to AUL Files. To Save the Comma-Delimited file: Select the Download link on the top right corner of the Electronic Activity Report. Select the Comma-Delimited File Format option and click on Submit.
The following File Download dialogue box will display. Click on Save. The Save As dialogue box will display. Click on the arrow by the Save In text box and browse to the location of your file folder or accept the default folder. 1 The file name will automatically display in the File name text box. The file name will be the plan number plus the date ranged selected formatted as YYYYMMDD. This format will insure that the file name is always unique. You have the option of accepting the default file name or entering a new name in the File name text box. We recommend accepting the default file name. Click Save.
The following Download complete dialogue box will display after the file has been completely transferred to the requested location. Click on Close. The comma-delimited file is now ready to be opened in any desired spreadsheet or database application. To Download the Excel Template: Downloading the Excel template will only need to be done once. The template can be reused over and over again once it is saved on your PC or Network. Select the Excel Template option and click on the Submit button.
The following File Download screen will appear. Click on Save. The following Save As dialogue box will display. Click on the Save In file option arrow. Browse to the file folder where your files will be saved or accept the default folder. The file name, EARTemplate.xlt, will automatically display in the filename text box. We recommend accepting the default file name. Click on Save.
When the download has finished transferring the file to your PC, a Download Complete dialogue box will display. Click on Close. Open your Excel spreadsheet application. Open the Excel EARTemplate.xlt file. This template will automatically format the comma-delimited file when it is imported into Excel. The following message box will display when the file is opened. Select the Enable Macros button. Click on the Import File button.
The Open file dialogue box will display. Locate the comma-delimited file that you want to pull into the Excel template. Select the Open button. The comma-delimited file will automatically be imported into the Excel template with the data formatted. This import may take a few minutes depending on the size of the file and your Internet connection. Multiple files can be inserted into the Excel template by selecting the Import button and choosing a new file using the same steps as outlined above. The file can be saved along with the Excel template format.
The Save As dialogue box will display. Change the file name to your desired file name Change the Save As Type to xls. This will save the data as an Excel spreadsheet.
Download XML Format The XML download uses the standardized XML format. XML is supported by Microsoft Excel 2002 and higher. XML is being used the many business applications as the format for data exchange. To create the XML download Select the XML download option and click on the Submit button. The following File Download screen will appear. Select the Save button.
The next screen to display is the Save As dialogue box. Click on the Save In file option arrow. Browse to the file folder where your file will be saved (AUL File) or accept the default folder. The file name will automatically display in the File Name text box. The filename format is the plan number plus the date range selected formatted as YYYYMMDD and the XML extension. This format will insure that the file name is always unique. We recommend not changing the file name. Click on Save.
The following Download complete dialogue box will display after the file has been completely transferred to the requested location. Select the Close button. The XML file is now ready to be used in your business applications or Microsoft Excel 2002 or higher versions.
