Instructions for use Getting started Battery installation Use a coin to rotate the battery locking screw 90 degrees to unlock the battery cover Remove the battery cover with your fingers Follow the polarity to install the accompanied 3.7 V lithium ion battery Replace the battery compartment door and rotate the locking screw to lock the battery cover Connecting to the power supply Connect the UK or EU supplied AC-DC adaptor to the DC 5 V socket (16) and insert the plug into an AC socket. Note: Only use the supplied power adaptor for this device and do not use it with other devices. This adaptor has been specifically designed for the accompanied battery in order to gradually charge the battery. Any other adaptor may shorten the battery life or can damage it or the device. Charging the battery The battery will automatically charge when the KS Air is plugged into the mains. The battery charging indicator will light up yellow whilst charging and turn green when fully charged. Note: It can take up to 3 hours to fully charge the battery. If the KS Air is not going to be used on battery power alone for a long period of time, we recommend the battery is removed from the KS Air. Basic use Switch the unit on/off 1. Switch the unit on by rotating the Power ON/OFF switch on the left of the unit to ON position, the display on the unit will light and display 00:00 and enter into the selected mode 2. Rotate the Function Selector to select different operating mode: DAB, FM, AUX or Bluetooth 3. Press and hold the ENTER button to enter into standby mode, the display on the unit will display the time and date (if set) 4. To switch off the unit, rotate the Power ON/OFF switch to the OFF position Listening to FM radio Switch the Power ON/OFF button to the ON position. The display on the KS Air will light up Rotate the function selector to select operating mode FM, which will be indicated on the display Extend the antenna, and press and hold the Backward and Forward buttons to search for a station automatically Press the Backward and Forward buttons once to manually search for a station Each time you press the INFO button, the screen display will show the channel name, track title, and other details If the scan function is picking up weak, unclear radio frequencies, enter the scan settings by pressing the MENU button followed by the ENTER button, then select the strong stations only option by pressing ENTER. Presetting stations in the FM radio memory The KS Air allows you to store up to 20 FM stations for easy recall at any time In FM playing mode, find the desired FM station Press and hold the PRESET button until PRESET STORE is shown, then use the Backward or Forward buttons to chose the preset memory number, then press the ENTER button to confirm Recalling preset stations In playing mode, press the PRESET button so that PRESET RECALL shows on the display, and use the Backward and Forward buttons to select the desired preset FM station. Press ENTER to choose the displayed station. 6 7

Listening to DAB broadcast Switch the Power ON/OFF button to the ON position. The display on the KS Air will light up Rotate the function selector to select operating mode DAB, which will be indicated on the display Extend the antenna, and for the first time of use the KS Air will automatically perform a full scan to see which stations are available To change the station, press the Backwards or Forwards buttons to scroll through the list of stations, press ENTER to select the chosen station To update or scan for channels, press the MENU button to show the menu, and then press the Play/Pause/Enter button to select Full Scan To manually scan for channels, press the MENU button and then the Forwards button to show the submenu. Press ENTER for Manual tune Use the Backwards and Forwards buttons to display a particular channel or frequency, and press ENTER to tune to that channel/frequency Each time you press the INFO button, the screen display will show the channel name, track title, and other details Presetting stations in the DAB radio memory The KS Air allows you to store up to 20 DAB stations for easy recall at any time In DAB playing mode, find the desired DAB station Press and hold the PRESET button until PRESET STORE is shown, then use the Backward or Forward buttons to chose the preset memory number, then press the ENTER button to confirm Prune This will remove stations that are listed but unavailable. To enable Prune: 1. Press MENU button and then press forward or backward to show the submenu Prune 2. Press the ENTER button to enter the Prune option 3. Press forward to select Yes and then press ENTER button to confirm Note: This removes all invalid stations indicated in the station list with a? in front of the station name. Dynamic range compression (DRC) This function reduces the difference between the loudest and quietest audio being broadcast. Effectively, this makes quiet sounds comparatively louder and loud sounds comparatively quieter. Note: DRC only works if it is enabled by the broadcaster for a specific station. To change the DRC setting: 1. Select Menu > DRC, then press ENTER button to enter the DRC submenu 2. Press forward or backward to select the available options: DRC off, high and low DRC off DRC is switched off Recalling preset stations In playing mode, press the PRESET button so that PRESET RECALL shows on the display, and use the Backward and Forward buttons to select the desired preset DAB station. Press ENTER to choose the displayed station. DRC high DRC low DRC is switched on; the default setting recommended for noisy environment DRC is set to half normal level 8 9

Pairing a Bluetooth device To pair a device for the first time: 1. Switch the unit on by rotating the Power ON/OFF switch on the left of the unit to ON position to power on 2. Rotate the FUNCTION Selector to BT position to enter Bluetooth mode 3. Bluetooth will flash on the screen 4. Using the controls on your Bluetooth device, select the KS Air in your Bluetooth settings to pair Note: If your device requests a password, enter 0000. Note: Refer to your device s user manual for instructions on pairing and connecting Bluetooth devices. 5. Bluetooth will stop flashing when you are connected 6. The next time the Bluetooth mode is enabled, the KS Air will automatically search for and attempt to connect to the last paired device Note: If your device is not connecting automatically, it s because it is not the last paired device. Simply delete KS Air from the list of Bluetooth devices on your device and re-pair, or press and hold the Preset button for 3 seconds to break any existing Bluetooth connection and re-enter pairing mode. Re-pairing or pairing new devices 1. Make sure the Bluetooth is turned off on any previously paired devices 2. Follow Pairing a Bluetooth device instructions from step 1 Playing audio wirelessly 1. Follow the instructions in the Pairing a Bluetooth device section 2. Use the controls on your device to select content. 3. Audio played through the connected Bluetooth device will now be heard through the speakers When playing music 1. To play or pause the selected track, use the controls on your device or press the ENTER button 2. To skip track, press the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons or use the controls on your device 3. The volume can be adjusted on both your device and the KS Air Using the KS Air for call-handling If your device is paired with the KS Air and you receive a call, the ringtone will sound through the KS Air Short tap the Play/Pause/Enter button to accept the call, and use the built-in microphone and speaker You can adjust the volume control on your device and the KS Air to obtain the desired sound level To end the call, just tap the Play/Pause/Enter button again. If you were playing music through the KS Air before the call, the music will automatically resume Using the aux-in 1. Switch the unit on by rotating the Power ON/OFF switch on the left of the unit to ON position to power on 2. Rotate the FUNCTION Selector to AUX position to enter AUX - IN mode 3. Plug one end of the 3.5 mm audio cable into the headphone or line out jack on your device, and plug the other end into the KS Air 4. Turn on your device and play your music 5. You can adjust the volume control on your device and the KS Air to obtain the desired sound level System library The time/date, sleep timer, alarm, snooze and language of the KS Air can all be set via the system library. The system library can be accessed by pressing MENU and cycling through the menu to find the System option, select this option with the ENTER button and navigate the system library using the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons. 10 11

Setting the date and time By default, the KS Air will automatically update the time over FM or DAB. However you can still set the time manually. To do this: Whilst in the system library, cycle through the menu using the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to find the Time menu, select the ENTER button. Select the Set Time/Date option using the ENTER button Select a value for each section of time using the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons, and then press the MENU button to confirm and move on Setting Alarms 1. Whilst in the system library menu, cycle through using the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to find the Alarm option, Select with the ENTER button. Otherwise, press and hold the ALARM/SNOOZE/DIM button for a shortcut to alarm set up 2. Using the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons, select which alarm you wish to set and confirm using the ENTER button 3. The hour digit will then flash on the display. Use the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to choose the alarm hour time and press the ENTER button to confirm 4. The minute digits will then be flashing. Repeat the steps above to confirm the alarm minute. 5. Duration will be showing on the display. Press the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to choose from 15, 30, 45, 60, or 90 minutes, then press the ENTER button 6. Source will then show on the display. Press the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to choose from DAB, FM or Buzzer, then press the ENTER button 7. Daily will show on the display. Press the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to choose from daily, weekdays, weekends, or once, then press the ENTER button Snooze setting When the alarm is sounding, short press the ALARM/SNOOZE button. The Snooze icon will show on the display. The alarm will sound again after ten minutes The snooze period can be set by pressing the ALARM/SNOOZE/DIM button to cycle through the options of 10/15/30/45 minutes Press and hold the ALARM/SNOOZE/DIM button while an alarm is sounding to disable an alarm Sleep setting Whilst in the system library menu, cycle through using the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to find the Sleep option, Select with the ENTER button Use the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to select the chosen time period and confirm by pressing the ENTER button The user is able to adjust the sleep time by the following increments Sleep off/15/30/45/60/90 minutes Language set The language used for display messages can be English, French, German, Italian, or Spanish Whilst in the system library, use the Backwards (8) and Forwards (9) buttons to find the Language menu and select your preferred language Factory reset If you would like to return the KS Air to its factory settings, you can find this option under the Factory Reset submenu within the system library. Press the ENTER button to enter the Factory Reset submenu, and press the ENTER button Care for your KS Air Please DON T: Get the KS Air wet Drop the KS Air as this will invalidate your warranty Open up the KS Air. There are no user serviceable parts inside Use any other mains adaptor than the one supplied Expose the KS Air to extreme temperatures or rapid changes of hot to cold or vice versa Please DO: Clean the KS Air with a soft dry cloth and no detergents 12 13
