Part 4 - Important Ghosting or Imaging Information Some of the software installed for this course will not function after changing the computer hostname. As such, cloning or imaging should not be used on a fully installed system. You can save time by extracting the contents of the USB memory stick to C:\ on a clean OS install (no other software installed) and then imaging that hard drive. After restoring the image to the other computers and changing the hostnames, you can then install the software on each computer individually by following the instructions that are detailed later in this document. Part 8 - Installing Rational Application Developer v8.0 Trial (RAD 8.0.4) with WebSphere Portal 7.0 Installing RAD 8.0.2 with Portal 7.0 involves two basic steps: installing RAD 8.0.2 itself and then installing Portal 7.0. This document will outline all these steps. Average time for installation of RAD 8.0.4 Trial with WebSphere Portal 7.0: 2 hours. Note: If installing on Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows Server 2008 there will be several notes about special steps required on these platforms. Failure to include these additional steps will lead to an unusable installation. 1. Before you begin, shut down any running applications. The installation process is quite CPU/disk intensive. 2. Make sure you are logged in as an account with administrative privileges. It is also suggested to turn off all Windows Firewall notifications as this will help to speed up the installation. 3. Open a command prompt window. You can do this by selecting Start Programs Accessories Command Prompt. 4. Use the 'cd' command to change directories to C:\Software\WebSpherePortal7.0 > cd C:\Software\WebSpherePortal7.0 5. Run the following command to launch the installation wizard. > install -W nodehost.active="false" If you are running Windows 7 or Vista you will get messages to allow running the software. Always allow access. Copyright 2012 Web Age Solutions Inc. 10
6. The WebSphere Portal and Lotus Web Content Management Version 7 installation wizard window will open, Select IBM WebSphere Portal Enable and click Next. 7. Accept the license agreement and click Next. 8. Select Base install and click the Next button. 9. Leave the default the installation directory and click Next. Copyright 2012 Web Age Solutions Inc. 11
Note: At this point, if you get a screen prompting for the hostname of the machine you started the installation wizard with the wrong options. Cancel the wizard and double check the command used to start the installation. The reason we started the installation with the special option was to skip the configuration of the Portal hostname. If the installation prompts you for a hostname it will not accept anything less than a fully qualified domain name. Since this is not needed for a test environment and may cause other issues we are having the installation skip this step. The Portal install will still work even though the option skips this step. 10. Enter wpsadmin in all the fields for user ID and password. Copyright 2012 Web Age Solutions Inc. 12
Carefully enter the password as this password is expected by the labs. 11. Click the Next button. 12. Leave the option to run Portal as a service unchecked and click the Next button. 13. On the summary screen click the Next button to begin the installation. If prompted by any Windows security prompts unblock or allow the process. 14. Wait for a while as Portal installs. This will take some time. You maybe be prompted to allow permissions. Copyright 2012 Web Age Solutions Inc. 13
15. Once the installation completes uncheck all the boxes in the installation wizard and click the Finish button. Part 9 - Verification of WebSphere Portal 7.0 installation 1. Open a web browser to the following address: http://localhost:10039/wps/portal After a few moments the Portal login page should appear. 2. Fill in a user ID and password of 'wpsadmin' and press the Log in button. 3. Verify that you see the WebSphere Portal administrative interface. Copyright 2012 Web Age Solutions Inc. 14
