FAQs IP CAMERA & NVR Q. What are IP camera / IP technology? A. IP (Internet protocol) CCTV cameras are digital cameras that can send & receive data via computer network & Internet. IP cameras require a central network video recorder (NVR) & CMS to handle the recording, video & alarm management. Q. What is the difference between AHD & IP camera? A. DETAILS ANALOG CAMERA IP CCTV CAMERA Transmission Signal Analog Technology AHD, CVI, TVI IP Transmission Interface BNC, Aviation connector (vehicle camera) Digital Transmission Cable Coaxial Cat 6 PoE - Power over Ethernet N/A RJ45 connector Optional Wireless Solution N/A Available Video Recorder DVR NVR/ Software based recorder installed on PC (CMS) Security No authentication required Memory Card Optional Optional Requires authentication - user name/ password Q: What cables are used in the installation of the IP cameras? A: The installation of IP cameras is done using CAT-6 cable. Q. What type of video connector do IP security cameras use? A. Our security cameras have a female RJ45 connection. Q. What are WDR security cameras used for? A. A WDR camera (Wide Dynamic Range) is used for capturing images of objects surrounded by a strong backlight, while still keeping the background visible. A typical use for a WDR camera is capturing scenes indoors that have large windows in the background with lots of sunlight. A WDR camera would enable you to capture both the indoor and outdoor/background scene clearly. Q. What is WDR Technology? A. WDR technology uses a special high-speed sensor to make two consecutive image scans to one picture. Non-WDR cameras just make one pass. The first scan captures images in the normal light condition. Right after, the camera captures the second image at high speed to capture the images that are in the strong light. The image processor then superimposes the two video images to provide a single picture that can see all areas. Q: Will bright sunlight damage an infrared camera's LEDs? A: No, our infrared security cameras (which use LEDs) are designed for use in both low light and lit conditions, so sunlight will not damage them. The infrared LEDs stay off during the day while there is light outside and then turn on at night in the dark (when they sense low light).

Q. Can the user view the camera feed on mobile phone and computer? A. Yes, after connecting the camera to NVR, the user can view the camera through NVRs' network view function. Q. Which mobile application is used for live view through NVR? A. Goodeye mobile application for Android, it can be downloaded from the Play store. Q. What type of image sensor is used in IP cameras? A. A CMOS sensor is used in IP cameras. Q. What is CMOS? A. CMOS is an abbreviation for Complementary Metal-Oxide Semiconductor. An Image sensor that converts light into electron. Q. What is the difference between CCD and CMOS? A. The main differences are: 1. CCD sensors create high-quality, low-noise images. CMOS sensors, traditionally, are more susceptible to noise. 2. Because each pixel on a CMOS sensor has several transistors located next to it, the light sensitivity of a CMOS chip tends to be lower. Many of the photons hitting the chip hit the transistors instead of the photodiode. 3. CMOS traditionally consumes little power. Implementing a sensor in CMOS yields a low-power sensor. CCDs use a process that consumes lots of power. CCDs consume as much as 100 times more power than an equivalent CMOS sensor. 4. CMOS chips can be fabricated on just about any standard silicon production line, so they tend to be extremely inexpensive compared to CCD sensors. Q. What is the size of sensor used in the IP camera? A. The different sensor types in IP cameras are: 1.3MP- 1/3 HD-CMOS 2MP- 1/2.9 HD-CMOS 3MP- 1/3 HD-CMOS 4MP- 1/3 HD-CMOS 5MP- 1/3 HD-CMOS Q. What type of lens is used in IP camera? What different categories? A. There are mainly two lens categories of IP Camera - Fixed & Varifocal lens. Generally, a wide range of fixed lens like 3.6mm, 6mm, 8mm, and 12mm is used as per requirement. By default, a 3.6mm lens is used in all IP cameras. Q. What is a Varifocal lens? A. A varifocal lens is a CCTV camera lens with variable focal length in which focus changes as focal length changes. A 2.8-12mm lens is used in varifocal IP cameras. Q. What is ICR or IR cut filter? What is the function? A. An ICR (IR-Cut Filter Removable) is a mechanical shutter design placed between the lens and the image sensor and is controlled by a motor or an electromagnet. When the ICR is switched on, it blocks infrared light and allows only visible light to pass through. When the ICR is switched off, infrared light is allowed to pass and the images turn to black & white mode (more sensitive to infrared light).

Q. What is DSP? A. Digital signal processing cameras use a DSP chip to digitize analog video streams. Analog video streams are generated by sensor, which DSP chips then convert into a digital video signal. DSP cameras provide a number of notable advantages over analog cameras, including increased brightness, added stability, greater sharpness and resolution, greater power efficiency, reduced sensitivity to noise and more. Generally we use Hi-silicon DSP in all IP cameras. Q. Which type of LEDs is used in the IP cameras? A. IR array LEDs is used in the IP cameras. Q. What is IR LED or What is the Day/night feature of the IP camera? A. An IR LED (Infrared Light Emitting Diode) is a solid-state lighting (SSL) device which emits light in the infrared range of the electromagnetic radiation spectrum. IR LEDs allow for cheap, efficient production of infrared light, which is electromagnetic radiation in the 700 nm to 1mm range. IR LEDs are used in a number of types of electronics, including many types of remote controls for televisions and other electronics. Used with infrared cameras, IR LEDs can act like a spotlight while remaining invisible to the naked eye. Q. What is the difference between IR/Array and normal LED? What are the benefits of IR/Array over LED? A. The main difference and the benefits of an IR/Array over LED are: 1. Long life. 2. High efficiency. 3. High brightness. 4. Even light. 5. Small size. Q. What is the power requirement of the IP Cameras? Which cable? A. All our IP camera with 6 Array Led require a maximum of DC 12V/500mA power to run (at nightvision). As the cable distance increases, the power drops & power requirement increases. It is suggested to provide 1-ampere power/camera. PoE switch of suitable power rating can be used for IP cameras. Q. Sometimes rings are visible in the night vision mode, what might be the cause of the problem? A. Camera installation angle plays a crucial role. Users should ensure the dome camera cap does not come in front of array LEDs. Q. What is the RTSP URL for IP camera? A. RTSP URL rtsp://192.168.1.128:554/user=admin&password=&channel=01&stream=0.sdp
