Applying a Theme Used in Another Presentation On the ribbon, click the DESIGN tab In the Themes group, click the More button, and then click Browse for Themes Navigate to the location of the presentation containing the theme you want to apply, and then click the Apply button 5

Inserting Symbols Click the INSERT tab, and then in the Symbols group, click the Symbol button 14

Adding Footers and Headers Headers and footers allow you to have information on each slide Click the INSERT tab on the ribbon, and then in the Text group, click the Header & Footer button 15

Adding Transitions, Part 1 In the Slides tab in Normal view or in Slide Sorter view, select the slide(s) to which you want to add a transition, or, if applying to all the slides, select any slide On the ribbon, click the TRANSITIONS tab In the Transition to This Slide group, click the More button to display the gallery of transitions, and then click a transition in the gallery If desired, in the Transition to This Slide group, click the Effect Options button, and then click an effect 16

Adding Transitions, Part 2 If desired, in the Timing group, click the Transition Sound arrow to insert a sound effect to accompany each transition If desired, in the Timing group, modify the time in the Duration box to modify the speed of the transition To apply the transition to all the slides in the presentation, in the Timing group, click the Apply to All button 17

Applying Animations, Part 1 In the Slide pane in Normal view, select the object you want to animate On the ribbon, click the ANIMATIONS tab In the Animation group, click the More button to display the gallery of animations, and then click an animation in the gallery 19

Applying Animations, Part 2 If desired, in the Animation group, click the Effect Options button, and then click a direction effect; if the object is a text box, click a sequence effect If desired, in the Timing group, modify the time in the Duration box to modify the speed of the animation If desired, in the Timing group, click the Start arrow, and then click a different start timing 20

Adding and Modifying Video, Part 1 In a content placeholder, click the Insert Video button to open the Insert Video window, and then next to From a file, click Browse to open the Insert Video dialog box; or click the INSERT tab on the ribbon, and then in the Media group, click the Video button, and then click Video on My PC to open the Insert Video dialog box Click the video you want to use, and then click the Insert button 24

Adding and Modifying Video, Part 2 If desired, click the VIDEO TOOLS PLAYBACK tab, and then in the Video Options group: Click the Start arrow, and then click Automatically to change how the video starts from On Click Click the Play Full Screen check box to select it to have the video fill the screen Click the Rewind after Playing check box to select it to have the poster frame display after the video plays Click the Volume button, and then click a volume level or click Mute 25

Modifying Video Playback Options Video Option Volume Start Play Full Screen Hide While Not Playing Loop until Stopped Rewind after Playing Function Change the volume of the video from high to medium or low or mute it. Change how the video starts, either when the presenter clicks it or the Play button on the play bar or automatically when the slide appears during the slide show. The video fills the screen during the slide show. The video does not appear on the slide when it is not playing; make sure the video is set to play automatically if this option is selected. The video plays until the next slide appears during the slide show. The video rewinds after it plays so that the first frame or the poster frame appears again. 27

Understanding Animation Effects Applied to Videos On the ribbon, click the ANIMATIONS tab and then click the video 28

Setting a Poster Frame, Part 1 The frame that appears when the video is not playing is called the poster frame Click the video, and then click the FORMAT tab Point to the play bar below the video Click the desired location on the play bar In the Adjust group, click the Poster Frame button Click Current Frame 29

Trimming Videos, Part 1 If a video is too long, or if there are parts you don t want to show during the slide show, you can trim it To do this, click the Trim Video button in the Editing group on the VIDEO TOOLS PLAYBACK tab, and then, in the Trim Video dialog box, drag the green start slider or the red stop slider to a new position to mark where the video will start and stop 31

Compressing and Optimizing Media As with pictures, you can compress media files You should compress media files to make the overall size of the presentation smaller Presentation Quality Internet Quality Low Quality 33
