The ALM Performance tool consists of 5 application building blocks: 1. XAMPP web server 2. Primary Monitoring service (Windows service) 3. Secondary Monitoring service (Windows service) 4. System health monitoring service (Windows service) 5. HTML based user interface The order of installation is: 1. XAMPP web server 2. HTML based user interface 3. Primary Monitoring service 4. Secondary Monitoring service 5. System health monitoring service Unzip the ALM Performance installation rar file and ran the XAMPP installer named: xamppwin32-5.6.14-4-vc11-installer If you have a web-server running on the machine, please pay attention to the installation path so your web-server s configuration files will not be replaced with the XAMPP configuration files XAMPP web server installation guide: 1. Run the xampp installer 2. Click Yes to continue installation
3. Click Ok to continue installation 4. Click Next 5. Uncheck the following: a. MySQL
b. FileZila FTP Server c. Mercury Mail Server d. Tomcat e. Perl f. phpmyadmin g. Webalizer h. fake Sendmail 6. Installation path C:\xampp
7. Uncheck the Learn more checkbox 8. Click Next
9. Wait for installation to complete 10. Click finish to run the xampp control panel
11. Open XAMMP folder from drive C (if you install it in drive C). 12. Search for xampp-control.exe, once you click this it will open server's control GUI window. 13. Open XAMMP folder from drive C (if you install it in drive C). 14. Search for xampp-control.exe, once you click this it will open server's control GUI window. 15. Changing Ports: to avoid collision with other application using the http ports 80 and 443 we will change the operating ports for this web server to 21008 and 4433. a. To open httpd.conf file, click the Config button next to Apache Start and Admin buttons. In the popup menu that opens, click and open httpd.conf b. Within the httpd.conf file search for listen. You ll find two rows with something like #Listen 12.34.56.78:80 Listen 80 Change the port no to port number 21008 like below #Listen 12.34.56.78:21008 Listen 21008 c. Next, in the same httpd.conf file look for ServerName localhost: Set it to the new port no. ServerName localhost:21008 Save and close the httpd.conf file. d. Now click the Apache config button again and open the httpd-ssl.conf file. e. In the httpd-ssl.conf file, look for Listen again. You may find: Listen 443 Change it to listen on a new port no of your choice. Say like: Listen 4433 f. In the same httpd-ssl.conf file find another line that says, <VirtualHost _default_:443>. Change this to your new port no. (like 4433) g. Also in the same httpd-ssl.conf find another line defining the port no. For that look for ServerName localhost:43 3 and change ServerName localhost:4433 h. Save and close the httpd-ssl.conf file. 16. Click "Start" in front of Apache in Control GUI window. 17. After clicking Start, apache get started and under Port(s), you can also check on which port you are running apace.
18. Press on the start button in the Apache line
19. After the apache starts see the port number. port numbers need to be 21008 and 4433
20. Now run the ALM Performance installation exe you downloaded a. Accept the License terms and click Next
b. Verify the installation path and click Next c. Verify the installation parameters and click Next
d. Wait for installation to finish
e. Click Finish to close the installer, Check the checkbox to start the settings application 21. Configure the environment using the Settings application located in C:\Program Files\ALMtoolbox\performance\GUI and run CustomEditor.exe. 22. After the configuration make sure the following services are started: a. opend Administrative tools menu and ran the services application. b. locate MonitoringService service and make sure it runs c. locate xmltohtmlwindowsservice service and make sure it runs d. locate VitalityInterval service and make sure it runs 23. ran the Settings application from the following path: C:\Program Files (x86)\almtoolbox\performance\gui\customeditor.exe 24. ran the following URL: ServerIP:21008/GUI/index.html to connect via remote host or localhost: 21008/GUI/index.html if dashboard from the same host as you are running the ALM Performance
