CloudAXIS Suite The Polycom RealPresence CloudAXIS Suite is a first-of-its-kind video collaboration and conferencing software solution that enables businesses to collaborate with other businesses or individuals easily and securely, independent of application, system, or device. CloudAXIS in Action A typical CloudAXIS use case could be described in four simple steps: 1. Schedule a meeting 2. Email invitations are automatically sent 3. Participants join from browser and/or endpoints 4. Summary Exercise (10 Minutes) Objective During this lab you will schedule a meeting with the CloudAXIS web portal, view the email invitation and use the link to join the meeting. Page 5 of 12
Four Basic Lab Steps Step 1: Schedule a Meeting To schedule a meeting, log into the portal, select the Schedule option and follow these steps: Enter the meeting details, including: 1. Meeting Name 2. Agenda 3. Date and time 4. Duration 5. Invite people using email addresses or your personal address book 6. Require authentication, if necessary 7. Create attendee passcode, if necessary 8. Create host passcode, if necessary 9. When complete, click the Schedule button and then Confirm Details, as shown below Once the details are confirmed, the system actually creates a scheduled VMR on the DMA system. One-click links to this VMR will be included in the email invitation. Page 6 of 12
Step 2: Email Invites are Sent Once a scheduled meeting is confirmed, the CloudAXIS Suite will use the configured SMTP server to send an email invitation to each attendee, as shown below: Page 7 of 12
Step 3: Participants Join with Browser When invited meeting participants click the provided link in the invitation email, they will be directed to the Meeting Experience Application and will be given options on how to join the meeting: using the web client, a traditional endpoint or using the phone. The example above shows Simon joining the conference using the provided browser video client with a webcam from his home office. Page 8 of 12
Step 4: Collaboration with High Definition Content Once in the meeting, Simon can view the conference and high definition content. Additional participants can be easily added during the conference using the portal. The browser-based video client also provides a group chat capability during the conference. Page 9 of 12
Required Infrastructure The CloudAXIS Suite requires a working RealPresence Platform integration with a DMA that has a configured and operational pool of MCU resources. In addition, a working firewall traversal solution, such as the RealPresence Access Director (RPAD) must also be implemented and functional. Page 10 of 12
Optional RealPresence Platform Integration The RealPresence Resource Manager, RSS and Polycom Video Content Management solutions are optional components of a CloudAXIS deployment. These solutions definitely provide added value to a unified communications and collaboration solution but are not required in a CloudAXIS deployment. CloudAXIS Components The CloudAXIS Suite solution is comprised of two virtual servers: WSP Web Services Portal provides a web GUI for users to administer their own ad hoc and scheduled meetings MEA Meeting Experience Application provides a landing page when users click the link to join a meeting. Participants have several options on how to join: o The new CloudAXIS web client with their own webcam o Traditional SIP or H.323 endpoint o RealPresence Mobile o Telephone In addition to the deployment of the two virtual servers, a CloudAXIS deployment requires: Reverse proxy functionality to provide HTTP access to the WSP and MEA portals from outside of the corporate firewall SMTP access to an email server to use for sending the automatic meeting invites Public DNS entries and certificates CloudAXIS Suite Licensing Model The base license is a bundle which includes; 100 concurrent web sessions, the services portal and the experience portal. Note: This license is designated Enterprise Edition in preparation for an alternative Service Provider license which will be available in the future. The solution pricing is based around the number of concurrent Web Client sessions. For example, if a user connects to a CloudAXIS meeting using an HDX, then no CloudAXIS licenses is consumed. Additional add-on licenses can be purchased as needed. Page 11 of 12
