1 Product Overview 1

AMOS-2000 000 Embedded chassis system for Nano-ITX embedded e boards. The AMOS 2000 is designed to contain VIA Nano-ITX embedded boards. It has removable front and rear I/O panel plates mounted to a heavy steel exterior. The bottom cover provides access to the internal CF socket, Mini PCI slot, and 2.5 HDD. With its stackable flexibility, customers can add an optional sub-system chassis that is designed to house a slim Optical Disk Drive (ODD). The flexible I/O panel and expandable storage kit makes the AMOS-2000 a powerful embedded chassis system. KEY FEATURES Universal compact embedded chassis designed for Nano-ITX embedded boards The AMOS-2000 is built-in with easily customizable front and rear I/O plates to suit various Nano-ITX embedded boards Support additional a expansion storage (slim Optical Disk Drive) chassis An optional external storage expansion chassis can be equipped with slim optical disk drive. It is ideally suited for diverse embedded system applications requiring the highest processor performance and expandability, such as machine automation and industrial plant and cabinet integration. Flexible configurations of I/O modules Removable front I/O plate panel to suit various of Nano-ITX embedded boards. Removable I/O port cutouts at the rear to support various I/O ports demands Available I/O modules include: o LPC-01: four RS-232 ports o LPC-02: two RS-232 and two RS-232/422/485 Bottom plate opening for CF and Mini PCI socket The AMOS-2000 embedded chassis with versatile bottom open cover which allows various location of CF socket, MiniPCI socket on VIA s Nano-ITX boards. WiFi networking option AMOS-2000 comes with optional support for a WLAN module through the reserved space in main chassis. It also has a reserved WLAN antenna hole for mounting a sturdy WiFi antenna. 2

AMOS-2000 FRONT/REAL PANEL PLATE Equipped with EPIA-NR (AMOS-2000-1MZZA1) Front I/O Panel Plate The front panel features a removable I/O plate for accessing the EPIA NR Nano-ITX I/O panel. There is also a system power button and two LEDs. When the system power is on, the POWER LED is always green. When the HDD LED is blinking red, it means the HDD is transmitting data. Rear I/O Panel Plate The rear plate features reserved cutouts of four COM ports for optional COM expansion module LPC-01 or LPC-02. The WLAN antenna hole reserved for installation of WLAN antenna. 7

Equipped with EPIA-N700 (AMOS-2000-2MZZA1) Front I/O Panel Plate The front panel features a removable I/O plate for accessing various Nano-ITX I/O panels. There is also a system power button and two LEDs. When the system power is on, the POWER LED is always green. When the HDD LED is blinking red, it means the HDD is transmitting data. Rear I/O Panel Plate The rear plate features reserved cutouts of four COM ports for optional COM expansion module LPC-01 or LPC-02. It also has two slots reserved for USB ports, and a hole for a WLAN antenna. 8

REMOVING THE CHASSIS TOP COVER Step 1 Remove the four screws on the tops side of the chassis. 17

REPLACING THE POWER BOARD The AMOS-2000 for EPIA NR (AMOS-2000-1MZZA1) supports VIA s PWB-N550 60 Watt DC to DC power board. To exchange the power board, please proceed as follows: Step 1 Ensure that the power cable is unplugged and remove the top cover. Step 2 Unplug the 12-pin power connector from the main board. Step 3 Unscrew the four screws on the power board to pull out the power board. Step 4 Insert the power board and secure the new power board with four screws. Step 5 Plug the 12-pin power connector on the mainboard and power board. 19

INSTALLING THE HARD DISK DRIVE The AMOS-2000 comes with a shock proof bracket for installing a SATA 2.5 inch HDD inside the chassis. Step 1 In order to install the SATA 2.5 internal HDD, remove the bottom cover by unscrewing the four screws. 20

Step 2 The bottom cover comes with HDD bracket mounted. Unscrew the HDD bracket to insert the hard disk drive. 21

Step 3 Insert the disk drive into the proper location of the bracket and secure them with the provided screws. 22

Step 4 Connect the SATA cable to the hard disk drive. Step 5 Connect the SATA power cable to the power board. Step 6 Mount the hard disk bracket with the HDD in original position on the bottom cover and secure it with four screws. Step 7 Replace the access cover and fasten it with four screws. 23

INSTALLING THE MAINBOARD The AMOS-2000 can support VIA EPIA series Nano-ITX boards such as EPIA-N700 and EPIA-NR. Step 1 First make sure to install all needed components such as CPU cooler, RAM, CF card, Mini PCI module, etc. Step 2 Fasten the Nano-ITX board onto the chassis with the provided screws. 24

Step 3 Screw the mainboard front panel onto the front I/O panel plate. Step 4 Connect the power connector from 2-pole phoenix power input connector cable to EPIA-N700 board. Step 5 Then connect the power LED, HDD LED and power switch cable from the chassis to the Nano-ITX board. 25

INSTALLING THE CF CARD OR MINI-PCI CARD The AMOS-2000 bottom access cover enables quick access to the CF and Mini-PCI socket locations on the bottom of various VIA Nano-ITX boards. Refer to the following instructions to install the CF card or Mini-PCI card. Step 1 First remove the four screws from the bottom access cover of the AMOS-2000. 26

Step 2 Remove the bottom access cover. Then install or replace the CF card or Mini-PCI card. Step 3 Replace the bottom access cover and secure it with four screws. 27

INSTALLING THE LPC-01 (OR LPC-02) EXPANSION MODULE The AMOS-2000-1MZZA1 and AMOS-2000-1MSZA1 supports either the LPC-01 or LPC-02. The LPC-01 adds four RS-232 COM ports. The LPC-02 adds two RS-232 COM ports and two RS-232/RS- 422/RS-485 switchable COM ports. To install the expansion module, please proceed as follows: Step 1 Remove the pre-punched D-sub 9-pin I/O cutouts with the COM label on the rear face of Chassis. File down any rough edges if necessary. Step 2 Then install the expansion module and fasten it onto the chassis with the four screws provided. 28

Step 3 Fasten the I/O connector of expansion module onto the rear plate panel of the chassis with the eight nuts provided. Step 4 Connect the LPC cable to the expansion module and the LPC pin header on the main board. 29

INSTALLING THE WLAN USB MODULE The AMOS-2000 has a designated mounting space for the optional WLAN module. Refer to the following instructions to install the WLAN Module. Step 1 Remove the top cover of the chassis and mount the WLAN module. Step 2 Secure it with two screws then connects the WLAN antenna cable to the mini RF connector on the WLAN module. 30

INSTALLING THE CD DRIVE INTO THE STORAGE DRIVE (OPTIONAL) Step 1 Remove the top cover of the storage drive by unscrewing the six screws. 32

Step 2 Then unscrew the four screws of CD drive bracket plate. 33

Step 3 Insert the CD drive into the bracket and secure it with four screws. 34

Step 4 Remove the cover of the access hole on the top cover. Secure the CD drive to the storage case and connect all the necessary CD drive cables then install back the top cover and secure it with six screws. Note: Make sure the drive s cables are properly connected. 35

Step 5 Connect the SATA port and power port of the storage casing to the SATA and power ports of the AMOS-2000. Then stack the AMOS-2000 on top of the storage casing and secure it with four screws. Note: When disassembling the AMOS-2000 and storage casing, you can easily disconnect the SATA port and power port of AMOS- 2000 and storage casing. 36

Step 6 Replace the cover of AMOS-2000 and secure it with four screws. 37

INSTALLING THE AMOS-2000 LEFT AND RIGHT BRACKET Step 1 Install the left and right wall brackets to the side of AMOS-2000. 38

Step 2 Secure the four screws to install the AMOS-2000 on the wall/table. 39
