3 Hardware Installation English Before using the Network Video Recorder, please prepare SATA hard disk(s) for recording video. 1. Make sure the power is off. 2. Secure the supplied rack mount ears if you want to use rack mount installation. 3. Loose the lock of the hard disk as shown below and take out the bracket. 4. Put your hard disk into the bracket, and secure it with the supplied four screws. 5. Loose the lock of the hard disk as shown below and insert your hard disk(s) into the socket. 6. Connect the supplied power cable from the Network Video Recorder to a power outlet. 2. Push the power button to run the Network Video Recorder. 3. Connect Network Video Recorder to Network Cameras and computer in LAN via LAN sockets. If the Network Camera is PoE-compliant, it allows transmission of power and data via single Ethernet cable. (NR8201 supports 4-CH PoE; NR8301 supports 8-CH PoE) 4. If your want to access over the Internet, connect the Network Video Recorder to the Internet via WAN socket. 5. 5 Assigning an IP Address English 1. Set up the Network Video Recorder in LAN. When in LAN, the default IP address for the Network Video Recorder is 192.168.100.1. Directly enter the IP address in the addrees bar of the web browser. The webpage of the Network Video Recorder will be displayed for you to configure the settings. 2. If you want to access over the Internet, please assign a WAN IP address in the confi guration page. There are three ways to get WAN IP address: DHCP (Dynamic IP), Static IP address, and PPPoE (DSL). If your network environment is DHCP, you can use VIVOTEK Installation Wizard 2 (IW2) to get an IP address easily. (1) Install Installation Wizard 2 from the Software Utility directory on the software CD. (2) The program will conduct an analysis of your network environment. After your network is analyzed, please click on the Next button to continue the program. Installation Wizard 2 (3) The program will search the VIVOTEK Network Devices on the same LAN. (4) After searching, the main installer window will pop up.
