Overview SSL - Testing The Purchase Process How To Make Test Purchases in Order to Understand the Purchase Process Overview When someone purchases SSL through your WPGateway product link, they receive a series of emails about their purchase and where their domain is in the process of having the SSL certificate installed. We have provided a process that allows YOU to create a TEST purchase that costs only pennies, does not actually order or install the SSL certificate, but still verifies that the payment process is working properly. You ll also receive sample emails so you can see what is being sent to your buyers. We have also created a way for you to be able to personalize the emails to your buyers, so, although the wording in the first part of the email may be fixed, the bottom part of the email (with your closing salutation and signature, and anything else you want to include) can be edited. You may want to read this article from Entrepreneur to decide which sign-off salutation you want to use. Page 1

Setting Up Testing Mode Setting Up Testing Mode Go to SSL > Products and Activate "Testing" Mode When your product is set to Testing mode, any purchase made through your link will cost pennies and will only trigger sample emails. This mode is designed for YOU to be able to TEST the process in order to understand the order process that your customers will experience, and so you can receive samples of the emails they receive. So ALWAYS be sure to change the mode back to Live as soon as you have completed your test purchase! Otherwise, if you forget and leave Test mode active, you will start losing any real sales that come in through your link.the customer would only be charged pennies, and would not receive the SSL for their site. Page 2

Setting Up Testing Mode Confirm you want to change to Testing Mode The Product Mode changes from "Live" (green) to "Testing" (orange). Page 3

Making a Test Purchase for Pennies Making a Test Purchase for Pennies When you change the Product Mode to Testing, the test purchase price is automatically changed to pennies -- without ever changing your real price setting. This means that you can easily and affordably make as many test purchases as you want. Since you are paying only pennies per test purchase, it does not include a real SSL purchase or installation. But it does allow you to experience the entire purchase process as though you are a real client. It also means that you are able to see the content of the emails sent to your buyers so that you can personalize those emails more effectively using the new custom email signature field. When you have finished your testing, all you need to do is to change the Product Mode back to Live, and the next purchase made will be at full price (and will also trigger the SSL installation process). Step 1: Click the Product URL Buy Link to Start Your Test Purchase Page 7

Making a Test Purchase for Pennies Step 4: Log in to PayPal If you are doing a test purchase with PayPal, you will need to log in to an account that is not already linked to this product. You cannot pay with the same PayPal account that is also the account receiving the payment. Page 11

Making a Test Purchase for Pennies Step 5: Complete the Payment After the payment is successfully processed, you will be redirected to a form which needs VALID cpanel or hosting login details. Page 12

Making a Test Purchase for Pennies RESULT: A Green SSL Order "Success" Message Shows For a Few Seconds RESULT: A Green SSL Installation Order "Success" Message appears for a few seconds - before you are automatically redirected to the Thank-You page. Page 15

Making a Test Purchase for Pennies The Buyer is Automatically Redirected to the Product "Redirect URL" This simple thank-you page was the Redirect URL that I specified when I configured my SSL Product. This page is already included in your SSL Biz-in-a-Box niche website. You can always start with this one, and then create a different page later on if you want to do something different with your redirect URL. Page 16

Reminder of Where the Redirect URL is Defined SSL - Testing The Purchase Process Understanding the EMAILS Triggered by a Sale Understanding the EMAILS Triggered by a Sale A Brief Overview of the Purchase Process Emails When a sale is made, both the seller (you) and the buyer receive an email about the sale. The seller receives a sale notification, and the buyer receives an order confirmation. The buyer also receives a second email stating that the SSL installation is in process. And when the SSL is successfully installed and activated, the buyer receives the third email letting them know. The New Email Signature Setting A new feature has been added that allows YOU to completely customize the bottom section of the emails sent to your buyers about their SSL purchase. This opens up a world of possibilities to you: add your own personal touch to the emails, sign them the way you normally do, include a P.S. if you want. You can even change it regularly if you wish. Until you create your own custom email signature, a simple, generic email signature is used for your emails to your buyers. Page 17

The New Email Signature Setting The Generic, Default Email Signature is Used Until You Create Your Own The DEFAULT Email signature is a generic signature that is used when you have not yet created your own personalized email signature. This will be used on the emails that are sent in your name to your buyers. Page 18

Emails to BUYER - with Generic Email Signature SSL - Testing The Purchase Process The New Email Signature Setting Email #1 to BUYER - Order Confirmation - Using the Generic DEFAULT Email Signature This is how the Order Confirmation email will look when the Seller (in this example, John Smith) has not yet created his own personalized email signature. Page 19

The New Email Signature Setting Email #2 to BUYER - SSL is Being Installed - Using the Generic DEFAULT Email Signature This is how the "Your SSL Certificate is Being Installed" email will look when the Seller (in this example, John Smith) has not yet created his own personalized email signature. Email #3 to BUYER - SSL Activated Page 20

Email to SELLER - "You Made a Sale" Notification SSL - Testing The Purchase Process You Can Create Your Own Custom Email Signature You Can Create Your Own Custom Email Signature You now have the ability to personalize the emails to your buyers by creating your own custom email signature. This custom email signature field gives you the freedom to define the entire bottom section of the email to your buyers. This is a very powerful tool and one that you will want to take advantage of. As soon as you save any content in your Email Signature field, the program will no longer use the default email signature for your emails. Remember, the P.S. is one of the most important parts of any email, so be sure to include a P.S. as well. Page 21

Where to Find the New Email Signature Field SSL - Testing The Purchase Process You Can Create Your Own Custom Email Signature If the Email Signature Field is Not Showing, Press Ctrl+Shift+R to Reload the Page If the Email Signature field does not display on your My Account page, it means that your computer is looking at a copy of that page which is stored on your local computer. All you need to do is to force your computer to RELOAD the page. Hold down the Ctrl key and the Shift key as you press the R key on your keyboard. This should force your computer to reload the page, causing the new Email Signature field to display on your My Account page. Page 22

You Can Create Your Own Custom Email Signature Important TIPS to Remember When Editing the Email Signature Field Tips to remember when you are editing this field: 1. Use the default font family and font size so it matches with the rest of the email. 2. You can use bold or italics or colors, but don't change font family or font size. 3. If you want to force a line wrap without the gap (like this example), hold down the SHIFT key while you press the ENTER key. 4. Feel free to change this whenever you want. It is dynamic, so any new SSL sale you make will get your new signature field contents. Update Profile to SAVE changes! 5. Keep your lines short enough so they fit with the rest of the email (the part that you cannot adjust)... learn the SHIFT+ENTER to force the line to wrap within the same paragraph. 6. TEST THE RESULT! Make a purchase in testing mode and check the email result. 7. Fix the email if you need to make changes. Test again until you like the results. 8. CHANGE BACK TO LIVE MODE as soon as you are happy with the results. Page 23

How to Create Your Own Custom Email Signature Email to SELLER (John Smith) - Sale Notification Email to Seller NOTE: Since this was an actual test purchase, the email reflects the actual price paid. Of course, with a real sale, the amount paid will be the regular price you are charging for the SSL. Page 27

TEXT Message to SELLER - "You Got Money" TEXT Message to SELLER - "You Got Money" If you have added your Mobile phone number to your My Account page, you can get an immediate TEXT message notification every time you make a sale. EXAMPLE Sale Notification Text Messages These are the REAL sales notification text messages received during the testing process. Page 28

Always Reset Product Mode to LIVE Always Reset Product Mode to LIVE Always reset the Product Mode to LIVE as soon as you have finished testing. How to Reset Product Mode to LIVE As soon as you have finished your testing, go to SSL > Products and change the Product Mode back to LIVE so your next sale will be at full price for a real customer. Page 30

Always Reset Product Mode to LIVE Confirm You Want to Set Product Mode to LIVE Live Mode is Activated Page 31

Always Reset Product Mode to LIVE The Test Mode Field on the SSL Product Page Always Shows the Current Product Mode Page 32

Tracking Your Sales Tracking Your Sales How to Display the Total Number of Sales You Have Made Go to SSL > Products to display the total number of sales you have made. The number of sales shown is specific to the current Product Mode setting. When the Product Mode is set to Testing, the Total Sales column will display the number of Testing sales you have made. When the Product Mode is set to Live, the Total Sales column will display the number of Live sales you have made. # of TESTING Sales is Displayed Page 33

Other Information You Have Access to SSL - Testing The Purchase Process Other Information You Have Access to SSL Domains Shows "Active" (Live) vs "Testing" SSL Purchases Go to SSL > SSL Domains to display all of the domains. You will see the status of each domain displayed in the Status column, either Active or Testing. Client Details (including Update Credit Card) Page 35

Other Information You Have Access to Client Transactions Shows Details About Each Transaction Go to SSL > Client Transactions for information about all of your transactions (testing and real transactions). Click the +/- (Plus/Minus) toggle to expand or contract the details section for that transaction. If you are using the split payment option so that the user pays a partial amount up front and the balance when the SSL is installed, you will see TWO amounts listed per client transaction. Since this example is for a Test transaction, the second amount (which is the balance due) will never actually be charged, because SSL is never actually installed. Page 36

Refunding Any Paid Transaction Refunding Any Paid Transaction Select "Refund" from the "Action" Dropdown Next to a "Paid" Transaction Go to SSL > Client Transactions for all your transactions. Locate the Domain Name that you are wanting to do the refund for. 1. Click the +(PLUS) icon in the first column to expand the section to show the transaction details. 2. Find the Paid transaction you want to refund, then click the Action dropdown. 3. Click Refund to begin the refund process for that transaction. Page 37

Refund Detail - Shows that the Full Amount Was Refunded Conclusion Conclusion Use the Testing mode to get familiar with the purchase process. This will help you interact more effectively with your clients. You can use your understanding of the process to customize your order page, emails, thank-you page, your email signature, or any other way you interact with your customer. You can even create additional pages for your website that explain the process and what your client will need to have available when they place their order (such as the cpanel or hosting credentials for the domain). REMEMBER: After you have finished your testing, always, always, ALWAYS change the Product Mode back to ACTIVE so your order process is fully functional again, and any new orders you receive will be at full price and will actually get SSL installed on their site.
