Personal Online Banking Quick Start Guide Step 1 Visit AmericanBank.com and locate the Personal Login ID box in the top right corner of the homepage. TIP: There are now two different online banking systems one for personal banking and one for businesses. Be sure to select the Personal Login ID box. Step 2 Point your cursor to the text Personal Login ID and click. Enter your Personal User ID in the box. It will be the User ID you have been using in the past. If it contains capital letters, enter them as lowercase letters now. Click on the LOGIN box to proceed. TIP: Your Login ID must be entered in all lower case characters. Check to be sure your computer or other device is not automatically capitalizing the first character, if it s a letter. 1
Step 3 You will be prompted to receive a One-Time Security Code. Click Continue with Security Code. Step 4 Select a phone number or mobile device where you can receive the one-time security code. Click Continue. *TIP: If your Login ID has not been entered correctly, the phone numbers shown will be incorrect as well. Try entering your Login ID again, being very careful to enter it exactly as specified. After carefully re-entering your Login ID, if you still do not see a current phone number you can use, please click on the link My phone number is not listed. See the Issues Logging In? section at the end of this guide for detailed information. 2
Step 5 You will receive a phone call from (800) 257-8316, or a text message, depending on your selection. When prompted, enter the one-time security code you received. Once the call is completed, click Phone Call Completed. Step 6 Enter a temporary password and click Sign In. IMPORTANT: The temporary password for your first login is the last 6 digits of your Social Security Number. 3
Step 7 If this is your initial login, you will be required to create a new password. You may use previous passwords. Click Submit to continue. TIP: To save time creating your new password, pay careful attention to the password requirements. Step 8 Click Continue to proceed to the Online Banking Service Agreement and Disclosure. 4
Step 9 You must acknowledge the Electronic Banking Agreement by clicking on the link. A new window will pop up containing the agreement. You must read and scroll through the entire agreement before proceeding. Once you have read and scrolled through the agreement, close the tab to return to the screen below. Click the checkbox stating that you have read and agree to the terms of the Electronic Banking Agreement. Click Submit to continue to your online banking homepage. Welcome to your new and improved Personal Online Banking homepage. TIP: If you also have business accounts with American Bank, you will need to register for Business Online Banking separately in order to have online access to those accounts. 5
Issues Logging In? Phone number not listed for One-Time Security Code: If your phone number was not listed when requesting a One-Time Security Code, click My phone number is not listed. You will receive the prompt shown below. Click Cancel to return to the One-Time Security Code page. 6
Verify your User ID is correct. Reminder: Your User ID must be entered in all lowercase letters. If the User ID on your screen is incorrect, click Enter different User ID to correct. If the User ID is correct, click the answer verification questions link at the bottom of the screen to continue. TIP: After logging in to Personal Online Banking, you will have the ability to update your phone numbers. Provide the information requested on the screen below to begin the identity verification process. Click Continue to proceed. 7
Answer a series of questions to confirm your identity. Click Submit. Note: The questions are pulled from a public records database and will be different for each user. If you cannot answer the questions successfully, click the I cannot answer these questions link at the bottom of the questions screen. You will need to contact Customer Service or visit your branch for assistance getting access to Personal Online Banking. 8
Once all the questions have been answered successfully, you will be directed back to the Sign In to Personal Online Banking screen. 9
