New Features Translation Support This release supports, and provides documentation for, non-english languages. The list of supported languages for all EPM System products is included in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Certification Matrix, posted at: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/bi/hyperion-supported-platforms.html. System Requirements Documentation System requirements are no longer part of the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation Start Here. Information about system requirements for EPM System products is available in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Certification Matrix. Metadata Export You can now export consolidation metadata for extended querying and reporting to your Oracle, IBM DB2, or SQL database. This enables you to identify and analyze consolidation data for entities and better query entity relationships. For example, you can define a custom consolidation to evaluate the allocation of resources to different projects and companies, or create consolidation reports that display general and specific entity relationships and contributions. To support this feature, new export database tables have been added. See Chapter 4 of the Oracle Hyperion Strategic Finance, Fusion Administrators User Guide. See Chapter 13 of the Oracle Hyperion Strategic Finance, Fusion Edition User Guide. Installation Information The section identifies important requirements and notes about installing and configuring this release of Strategic Finance and integrated products. For detailed installation instructions, see the EPM System Installation and Configuration Guide. Upgrades This release is intended for new deployments only. Upgrading or migrating is not supported, and products from this release are not compatible with those from previous releases. The following are the deployment changes for this release. For more information, see New Features and General Installation Information in the Oracle Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management System Installation and Configuration Readme. The EPM System directory structure has changed significantly. The default directories are now Middleware Home and EPM Oracle Home. EPM System Installer now installs WebLogic Server (replaces Apache Tomcat as the embedded Java container) and Oracle HTTP Server (replaces Apache Web Server as the embedded Web server). The manual deployment process is greatly simplified, using the Fusion Middleware Configuration Wizard (deployed with WebLogic) to manually deploy Web applications. The Shared Services relational database is now used as Native Directory (replaces OpenLDAP as the central storage for native EPM System user accounts and provisioning information). 2
IBM DB2 Client Requirement To use an IBM DB2 database with this release of Strategic Finance, you must have a minimal installation of the IBM DB2 client. Running Web services for 32-bit Applications on Microsoft Windows 64-bit Systems If you cannot use the web service on a Windows 2003 64-bit operating system, enable 32-bit apps in IIS as follows: 1. Open a command prompt and navigate to %systemdrive%\inetpub\adminscripts. 2. Enter this command: cscript.exe adsutil.vbs get W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32BitAppOnWin64 3. If the command returns "false", run this command setting it to "true": cscript.exe adsutil.vbs set W3SVC/AppPools/Enable32BitAppOnWin64 "true" 4. Restart your computer. Installing and Configuring Oracle Crystal Ball EPM Fusion Edition To use Strategic Finance with Crystal Ball, ensure that you have: Release 11.1.1.1.00 or higher of Crystal Ball and a valid Crystal Ball Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) license feature A supported version, identified in the Crystal Ball documentation, of Microsoft Excel Install Microsoft Excel, Crystal Ball, and the Strategic Finance client on the same computer. Installing Oracle Hyperion Financial Data Quality Management Financial Data Quality Management (FDM) is an out-of-the-box data transformation tool providing source-level financial data to consolidation, reporting, planning, and analytical applications. For information on the feature, refer to Oracle Hyperion Strategic Finance Administrator s Guide, and the Financial Data Quality Management documentation. To use this release of Strategic Finance with FDM, perform these tasks: 1. Install the following: Release 11.1.1.x.xx of FDM The FDM EPM Adapter Suite The Strategic Finance client, server, and HSFWebServices component. 2. Access the Internet Information Services Management console and configure Web Extensions/ASP.NET to Allowed. See the Microsoft Internet Information Services documentation for details. 3
Resolving Strategic Finance and FDM Language Display Issues If you cannot integrate Strategic Finance with FDM in a supported language, this may be because IIS is executing Strategic Finance language files in the ASP.NET directory, but FDM VB/VB.NET files in the IIS service directory. If this is the case, copy all language.dll files with a rsc???.dll pattern in HSF\Server install to these directories: C:\WINDOWS\system32\inetsrv C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727 Configuring HSF Server Parameters Use the EPM Configuration Utility to specify the RPC Port and HSF Data directory location. Perform all other server configuration using the Strategic Finance Administrator. External Database Connection Syntax If you cannot connect to external databases or use extended analytics as described in Chapter 4 of the Oracle Hyperion Strategic Finance Administrator s Guide, use these connection strings: Database SQL Server Oracle Strings Provider='SQLOLEDB';Server='{hostname}';'{Database name}' Provider='OraOLEDB.Oracle';Data Source='{SID}' or IBM DB2 Provider='OraOLEDB.Oracle';Data Source='{database name}'; HOST='{hostname}' Provider='IBMDADB2';Database='{database name}'; Hostname='{hostname}';Protocol=TCPIP; Port=50000;QUOTED_IDENTIFIER=off; or Provider='IBMDADB2';Data Source='{database name}';persist Security Info=True;QUOTED_IDENTIFIER=off; Note: {hostname}, can be an IP address, un-qualified host name, or fully-qualified host name. 4
Extending the Default Security Perform these steps to further secure Strategic Finance. 1. When installing the databases that you will use to export data or perform extended analytics, select these options: Customer_Interface db_owner db_securityadmin HSFService public 2. On the Permission Entity for HSFService Object tab, select Allow for Query Value, Set Value, Create Subkey, Delete, and Read Control. 3. To further secure the /HSFData/hsf directory, select the following on the Advanced Security Settings Permissions tab: Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here Replace permission entities on all child objects with entities shown here that apply to child objects On the Permission Entity for Server Object tab, select Allow for all options except Full Control 4. To further secure/hsfdata, remove all users except System in Groups or User Names on the Properties for HSFData Security tab. Known Issues These are the noteworthy known issues of this release: Defect Number Description 9156469 The Strategic Finance client may shut down when you open entities in consolidation structures if you are using Vista and Windows 7 platforms. 9216171 The Strategic Finance client may shut down or freeze in if you have invalid links in reports, or if you run consolidations from all levels. To resolve this issue, rebuild your consolidation structures. 8766999 Accessing a chart view of consolidations may shut down the Strategic Finance client. To resolve this issue, select a parent entity in the consolidation chart, and then use the Consolidation menu. 9438584 You may receive out of memory errors when using reports and the alias manager. 9356714 You cannot create or modify database connections for maps. 5
Defect Number Description 8921878 Data is not applied correctly to target entities that have deal periods using ACM. For example, you specify months as the time period for forecast periods, enter input data for an account, create a target file, change time periods to months, and add a deal period for June09. After creating and running an ACM document that contains history and forecast input values, data in the target file for JUN09 DEAL is not displayed. 8585034 In ACM documents, not all accounts in an account group whose attributes you are specifying, display as available. 8568092 For ECM document containing account groups that in turn contain accounts, account groups may not copy over when you run the entity change manager. 8831965 UDA formulas may not display correctly in target files after you use ECM. 8576666 Time period name changes that you make may not be applied to target files by ECM. 9020824 Batch security settings may not correspond to those defined in the Strategic Finance Administrator. 9215730 Dates in the batch import log may not correspond to the actual date and time stamps. 8617767 Data may be overwritten when you import from Essbase or Financial Management, even though cells do not allow overrides. 8718933 When importing accounts from Planning, accounts that do not exist in the account mapping may be overwritten. 8576666 Time period name changes that you make may not be applied to target files by ECM. 8626769 Calculations involving subaccounts and free form formulas in the Currency Translator may not work as expected. For example, if you subaccount an account twice, specify a formula in the second subaccount that negates the first, and run the translation, the formula in the second subaccount may not execute. 9069619 Opening freestyle reports may take a long time. 9231619 You may be unable to copy and paste formulas and values in reports. 8665155 Standard report formatting and values may not display as expected. 8763156 YTD specifications for cell attributes in freestyle reports are not permanently applied. 8556361 If cell and row attribute settings in freestyle reports differ, cell attribute settings are not given precedence and applied. For example, if you an entire row has a change sign attribute setting, and you remove this setting for a cell in the row, the display in the report cell is incorrect. 8561009 Cell formula calculations in freestyle reports may not format correctly or as expected. 8606578 In Strategic Finance web services, EnumOpenedEntities may not display open entities. 9363957 Entity names may be displayed differently at the top and bottom of pages. 9232367 Check in successful messages may not display until you launch another process. 6
