QUICKBOOKS PRO 2009 INSTALLING QUICKBOOKS PRO AND STUDENT DATA FILES Installing QuickBooks Pro 2009 Software Before installing the software, verify that your computer meets the following minimum system requirements for a single user installation. Hardware/Software Computer processor Memory Hard disk Internet functionality Operating system Display CD ROM Requirements 2 GHz Intel Pentium III or equivalent (2.4GHZ recommended) At least 256MB of RAM (512MB recommended) 1 GB of available disk space to install plus additional space for data files Broadband service or dial up with at least 56 Kbps modem and Internet Explorer 6.0 Windows XP with Service Pack 2 or later and Vista High color (16 bit) SVGA supporting 800x600 resolution with small fonts, optimized for 1024x768 4x CD ROM drive

Close all programs currently running and insert the QuickBooks Pro 2009 software CD into your computer s CD drive. When the window illustrated next opens, mark No and click Next. 2. When the next window opens, confirm that all open programs are closed and click Next.

QuickBooks Pro 2009 Installing QuickBooks Pro and Student Data Files Page 4 4. Choose to install one user as illustrated next and click Next. 5. On the next window, enter the License Number and Product Number located on your software case and click Next.

QuickBooks Pro 2009 Installing QuickBooks Pro and Student Data Files Page 6 7. Click No to installing Google Desktop as illustrated next and click Next. 8. Click Install when you receive the confirmation screen illustrated next.

When you receive the window illustrated next, click Finish. 10. You have completed software installation so remove the CD from the drive and store it in a safe place. You are now ready to complete the following instructions on installing student data files. Installing Student Data Files After installing QuickBooks, you need to copy company databases to your machine so you can open them in the software. The databases used with the workshops are located on the MyAccountingLab Website. Make sure to choose the link to QuickBooks Pro 2009 data files. Copy the databases to the C:\\Users\Public\Public Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks folder if using Vista or to the C:\\Documents and Settings\All Users\Shared Documents\Intuit\QuickBooks folder if using Windows XP or to a folder specified by your instructor. You are now ready to open these databases in the software.

The first time you open QuickBooks the screen illustrated next may open with the Live Community pane on the right, which is used to access online content. If this window opens, click X to close the Live Community pane and in the window that opens, unmark the option to Open Live community when starting QuickBooks, mark the option to Don't display this message again and click OK. Finally, click OK to proceed to the next step.

Select Open a company file as illustrated next and click Next. 5. You should see a list of company databases. Highlight a company name and click Open. If you do not see the company names then click the dropdown on the Look in box and browse to the folder where you saved the databases. You are now ready to use the software with the workshop databases.
