INSTALLATION OF THE RAVENNA PHONE (ILLUSTRATION I) 1. Connect the curled cable. 2. Click one of the transparent plugs at the end of the telephone cord in the connection point on the bottom of your RAVENNA. 3. Click one of the transparent connection plugs at the end of the telephone cord of the Premier RAVENNA in your telephone plug. 4. This telephone plug can now be plugged into the wall socket of your telephone connection point.! The RAVENNA also has a DATA PORT connection on the bottom of the unit (DATA PORT/EXT.). This extra connection point can be used for installation of an answering machine, portable computer etc. WALL ASSEMBLY (ILLUSTRATION II) This telephone can also be mounted on a wall. You can do this by fixing the appliance with wall-mounting support and 2 screws. The first screw is positioned 52 mm horizontally at the side of the other one. CAUTION! NOTE THAT THE CONNECTING SCREWS MUST PROTRUDE 0.8 CM OUT OF THE WALL. INSTALLATION OF THE BATTERIES (ILLUSTRATION III) 1. Install 4 X AAA Alkaline batteries into the battery compartment on the bottom of your appliance. ALWAYS install the batteries! Without batteries the RAVENNA will not work as it should. 2. The battery icon appears on the display when the battery should be replaced. Important: The Phonebook-memory of the Premier RAVENNA stays stored when you replace the batteries. TONE/PULSE SWITCH ( P T ) With this switch you can place the RAVENNA phone in the appropriate dialling system: PULSE or TONE. How do you know in which position this switch must be? Place the switch P T on the bottom of the unit in TONE -position. Pick up the handset and dial a random number. If the connection is made, leave the switch in TONE -position. If the dialling tone continues and you therefore are unable to make any telephone connection with the desired number, you have to place this switch into PULSE -position. This switch is not used in countries where only TONE dialling is available. THE TELE-SERVICES KEY ( ) If your telephone only works in PULSE mode and not in TONE mode as described above, you normally cannot use the Tele-Services such as Tele-banking, Tele-shopping etc With this Tele-Services key you can use these services without any problem. During dialling you ll be able to temporarily switch from PULSE -mode to TONE -mode. Pick up the phone. Dial the required number (in PULSE dialling mode). Wait till connection is made. Press the key. Each number dialled from this moment is using the TONE dialling mode. When hanging up the handset, the Premier RAVENNA automatically returns to PULSE mode. This key is not used in countries where only TONE dialling is available. GB-2 Ravenna_GB.pmd 2

PROGRAMMING OF THE RAVENNA Programming the language choice You can make a choice between English, Greek, Spanish, Dutch, French, German, Polish, Swedish, Finnish, Australian, Norwegian, Czech, Slovak, Turkish, Danish. When the phone is in STANDBY-Mode you press DEL, DIAL and simultaneously. On the display appears ENGLISH. Use and to select a language. Press the DIAL-key to confirm your language choice. Programming date & time Press and hold the R/F-key until SET TIME appears on the display. 2004 Use and to select the right number. The setting order is Hour/Minute/Day/Month/Year. Always press the DIAL key to confirm your choice and to go to the next setting. (f.i. after the correct setting of Hour, press the DIAL key to go to the setting of Minute.) After setting the Year press the key. The display will show a flashing number from 1 to 7. This number corresponds with the day of the week (f.i. 3 = Wednesday). Finally press the DEL key to confirm and to exit programming. Remark: When you have a Caller ID subscription time & date will be automatically set when you first receive a call. NEVER WAIT DURING PROGRAMMING FOR MORE THAN 5 SECONDS BEFORE CONTINUING WITH THE NEXT STEP. SPEAKERPHONE-BUTTON (HF) With this HF-button you can dial and call without lifting the handset. How to dial without lifting the handset? First press the HF-button and then dial the required number. First dial the required number and then press the HF key. As soon as they answer your call, you can start your telephone conversation through the loudspeaker. If you do NOT get a connection or if you wish to end the call, press the HF-button again. How to switch between calling with the handset to handsfree calling during a conversation? Press the HF-button. Place the handset on the base. You can now continue your telephone conversation through the loudspeaker. How to switch between handsfree calling to calling with the handset during a conversation? Take the handset from the base. The SPEAKERPHONE function is automatically being switched off. By pressing this HF-button you can also answer an incoming call. GB-3 Ravenna_GB.pmd 3

SPEAKER VOLUME BUTTONS (LO/HI) With these buttons you can adjust the speaker volume: Press the HI-button to make the voice volume louder. Press the LO-button to make the voice volume less loud. RINGER VOLUME SWITCH ( ) You can set the ringing volume as desired with the switch on the bottom of the unit: OFF (Ringer = switched off) LO (= low) HI (= loud). REDIAL BUTTON ( ) Pick up the phone or press the HF-key. Press the - button. The last number dialled will be automatically dialled again. You can now start your telephone conversation. The RAVENNA stores the 10 last dialled numbers. How to call back one of these numbers? When the phone is in STANDBY-Mode, press the DIAL-Key once. Use the arrow keys or to select the number that you would like to call. Pick up the handset or press the HF-Key to dial out this number. How to store one of these numbers in the Phonebook? Select the number that you would like to store from the 10 last dialled numbers. Press and hold to add the number to the Phonebook. The first digit to add the name - will start to flash. Enter the name as described in the chapter How to programme names and telephone numbers in the Phonebook memory and press to confirm. Press the DEL-Key to exit. CONNECTING TO A PBX FLASH KEY (R/F) This R/F -button can be used when the RAVENNA is connected to a PBX. With this button your telephone is given a through-connect function. THIS BUTTON ONLY OPERATES WHEN YOUR TELEPHONE HAS BEEN INSTALLED FOR TONE MODE (TONE/PULSE SWITCH MUST BE SWITCHED IN TONE POSITION). THIS BUTTON SOMETIMES IS ALSO CALLED THE R BUTTON. FLASH-SWITCH If you connect the RAVENNA to a PBX, you have to follow the corresponding Flash-time (see instructions manual of the PBX). The FLASH can be set in 3 different Flash-times: 100 ms (1) = applicable in most countries 300 ms (3) 600 ms (6) You can find the FLASH-switch at the bottom of the appliance (Illustration I). PAUSE BUTTON ( ) If you programme an international number in the memory, after the country code a pause must be programmed. GB-4 Ravenna_GB.pmd 4

Press the - key after the country code. When this number is selected from memory the telephone will automatically insert a pause after the country code. If you are using a PBX, it is recommended to always programme a pause after 0 (to use an outside line). This can be done in the same way as above. STORING NAMES AND NUMBERS IN THE MEMORY 70 names and numbers can be programmed in the Phonebook of the RAVENNA. 3 numbers in the Direct memory (M1, M2, M3). 10 numbers in the Indirect memories (0, 1,,9). How to programme numbers in the Direct and Indirect memory? Direct Memory: When the phone is in STANDBY-Mode, press until the display shows - ->. Enter the telephone number that you would like to store. Enter the desired location M1, M2 or M3. The display shows SAVE OK, meaning that the number has been stored. Enter the telephone number that you would like to store. Press and hold the desired location M1, M2 or M3 until the display shows SAVE OK. Select the number from the caller ID list OR from the 10 last dialled numbers OR from the Phonebook. Press and hold the desired location M1, M2 or M3 until the display shows SAVE OK. Indirect Memory: When the phone is in STANDBY-Mode, press until the display shows - ->. Enter the telephone number that you would like to store. Press again until the display shows - ->?. Enter the desired location 0,1,..,.9. The display shows SAVE OK, meaning that the number has been stored. How to edit the Direct and Indirect memory? The Direct and Indirect memory can be edited by programming a new telephone number under M1, M2, M3 or 0,1,...,9. You can do this the same way as described above. The old number is being replaced automatically. How to programme names and telephone numbers in the Phonebook memory? Press and hold until the display shows -. Enter the phone number (up to 18 digits). In case of wrong input, you can correct by using the DEL-key. Press again. The display shows -. Use the keypad to programme the name. Use the overview (* ) of letters and symbols to do so. Example: the button [2] will have A, B and C on it. Pressing the [2] button twice will give you B. Use the DIAL key to go to the next position on the display (f.i. to insert a space). When you have entered the entire name, press to confirm the programming in the Phonebook memory. The display will show - so that you can enter the next number. If you want to exit, press the DEL-key or wait 20 seconds. The phone will automatically return to STANDBY-Mode. Press once. Use the arrow keys and so that the number that you would like to delete appears on the display. Press the DEL key twice. Use the DIAL key to go back to STANDBY-Mode. How to edit names in the Phonebook memory? Press. Use the arrow keys and so that the name that you would like to edit appears on the display. Press and hold the DIAL key until - starts to flash at the first digit of the name. Use the DIAL key to go to the position where you would like to change a letter. Use the DEL key to delete a wrong letter. Use the keypad to program the right name. GB-6 Ravenna_GB.pmd 6

When you entered the complete name, press to confirm this name and to store it in the Phonebook memory. Press the DEL key again to exit the Phonebook memory. How to edit telephone numbers in the Phonebook memory? Press. Use the arrow keys and so that the number that you would like to edit appears on the display. Press and hold the DIAL key until - starts to flash at the first digit of the name. Press the DEL key so that the last digit of the telephone number starts to flash. Use the DEL key to delete the wrong numbers. Enter the correct telephone number and press to confirm. On the display - starts to flash at the first digit of the name. Re-enter the first letter of the name and press to confirm. Press the DEL key again to exit the Phonebook memory. Important: If you edit the telephone number, the first letter of the name is automatically being deleted. Do not forget to re-enter it. HOW TO CALL NUMBERS FROM THE MEMORY How to search a number in the Phonebook memory? Press once. Use the keypad as indicated above to enter the name you need to find. Enter as many letters as you like as searching hint. Press the arrow keys and to start searching. The first matching name and number will appear on the display. Use the arrow keys and to go through the memory. To go back to STANDBY-Mode, press the DIAL-key. If you want to search the 54th name and number of the Phonebook, you press 54 followed by #. The name and number you asked for, will appear on the display. How to dial out a number from the Phonebook memory? Search for the number that you would like to dial out as described above. How to dial out the number stored in the Direct memory? Press M1, M2 or M3. Press M1, M2 or M3. How to dial out a number stored in the Indirect memory? Press followed by 0, 1, 9. Press followed by 0, 1, 9. USE OF THE CLIP-FUNCTION The Caller ID function of the RAVENNA allows you to see the caller s phone number and/or name before you answer the call. With this function you can also see who tried to reach you during your absence. The only thing you need for this is a subscription for CLIP-service of your telephone company. GB-7 Ravenna_GB.pmd 7

When is the number or name not displayed? In following cases the telephone number of the caller is not displayed: Calls from a telephone booth. When the call is coming from abroad. When the caller has blocked CLIP function. What can you read from the display? The call is made through a telephone company which does not offer Caller ID service (including international calls). The caller has blocked CLIP function. The number of new calls. If the same person calls you several times during your absence, this icon will appear. The total number of calls stored in the Caller ID memory. The unit can store up to 66 numbers in the CLIP-memory. If the name of the caller is stored in the Phonebook memory, the name will automatically be shown on the display. If there have been new calls during your absence, the red light of the phone will flash and on the display the letter N will appear together with the number of new calls. The red light continues to flash until you reviewed all calls. With every number in the Caller ID memory, date and time of the call are also shown on the display. How to view the Caller ID list? Press the arrow key. The display will show the newest call stored. With you can scroll through the list, after the oldest number the display will show END OF LIST. Press the arrow key. The display shows the number of the oldest call stored. With you can scroll through the list, after the oldest number the display will show END OF LIST. How to call a number from the Caller ID list? Press the arrow keys or until the desired number is shown on the display. Pick up the handset or press the HF key. How to store a number from the Caller ID list in the Phonebook? Select the number that you would like to store from the caller ID memory. Press and hold to add the number to the Phonebook. The first digit to add the name - will start to flash. Enter the name as described above and press to confirm. Press the DEL-Key to exit. How to delete a number from the Caller ID list? Press the arrow keys or until the desired number is shown on the display. Press the DEL-key twice. How to delete all numbers from the Caller ID list? Press the arrow keys or. Press the DEL-key for 4 seconds, the display will show ALL DEL?. Press the DEL-key again. The CLIP-memory is completely empty now. CALLER ID ON CALL WAITING With the Call Waiting function, you will hear a tone indicating that you have another call. If you have a subscription for the Caller ID service, you can also see who is waiting. Remark: For receiving this service, you must take a subscription with your telephone company. How to switch between 2 calls? While you are calling, the name and number of the first caller are displayed. If there is a call waiting, you will hear a tone. The name and number of the second caller will appear on the display. Press the R/F-key to start the conversation with Caller 2. Call 1 will NOT be disconnected. To go back to Caller 1, you press the R/F-key again. You can repeat this as often as you like. If you ignore Caller 2, the data will be stored in the Caller ID memory. SPECIFICATIONS Message Waiting: When somebody leaves a message in your mailbox, first the message MESSAGE WAITING appears on the display for a few seconds, followed by:. This icon will remain until you have retrieved your voice mail, and the MESSAGE WAITING will save as a call. This function only works if you have subscribed it with your telephone company. Setting the Contrast: If the RAVENNA is in STANDBY-Mode, you press the DIAL and the DEL key simultaneously. On the display appears the current setting of the contrast HIGH or LOW. Use the arrow keys or to set the required contrast. Press the DIAL key to confirm. The RAVENNA automatically goes back to STANDBY-Mode. GB-9 Ravenna_GB.pmd 9
