No additional or any different terms will be enforceable against FarStone unless FarStone gives its express consent, including an express waiver of the terms of this Agreement, in writing signed by an officer of FarStone. You assume full responsibility for the use of the Software and agree to use the Software legally and responsibly. Should any provision of this Agreement be declared unenforceable in any jurisdiction, and then such provision shall be deemed severable from this Agreement and shall not affect the remainder hereof. FarStone reserves all rights in the Software not specifically granted in this Agreement. Additional Terms and Conditions: In addition to the above agreement, the following terms and conditions will also apply to Your use of the Software: A. You may use the Software on one Device to clone, or apply an image of a hard drive on that Device, or to another hard drive on the same Device, a replacement Device, secondary media, or network drive. B. You may use the Software on a Device to create an image file of a hard drive on that Device and store the image file on fixed or removable media for disaster recovery purposes. C. You may use the Software as a boot disk to re-apply the hard drive image that was created for disaster recovery purposes to the hard drive on the Device from which the disaster recovery image was made or on a replacement Device provided that the software has been removed from the original Device. D. You may use the Software to clone a hard drive from a Device to a replacement Device, in the manner described in the Software documentation and to

use the Software on the replacement Device provided that the Software has been removed from the original Device. E. You may not use the Software commercially or non-commercially for the purpose of creating an image on multiple Devices or hard drives, except for multiple hard drives installed in or attached directly to the original Device. F. For the purposes of this License Agreement, a virtual device is considered the same as a physical device. G. If the Software you have licensed includes the One Recovery the following uses and restrictions apply to the Software: (i) The One Recovery contains Windows software licensed from Microsoft Corporation. Microsoft Corporation has no liability to You for the Component. Any support for the Component will be provided by FarStone in accordance with FarStone s then-current support guidelines. (ii) THE ONE RECOVERY CONTAINS A TIME-OUT FEATURE THAT WILL AUTOMATICALLY RE-BOOT THE DEVICE AFTER SEVENTY-TWO HOURS OF CONTINUOUS USE. THIS TIME-OUT FEATURE WILL RESET EACH TIME THE COMPONENT IS RE-LAUNCHED. (iii) The One Recovery may be used as a boot, diagnostic, disaster recovery, setup, restoration, emergency service, installation, test, and configuration utility program. Use of the Component as a general purpose operating system or as a substitute for a fully functional version of any operating system product is strictly prohibited. Chapter 1: Product Overview FarStone One is a simple-to-use backup & recovery software. It is designed for Tablet, Smartphone, Laptop and Mini PC running on windows operating system. Chapter 2: Installing and Uninstalling FarStone One 2.1 System Requirements One Pro edition supports Desktop Operating Systems: Windows 7/8/8.1 One Standard edition supports Desktop Operating Systems: Windows 7/8/8.1 One Server edition supports Operating Systems: Windows 7/8/8.1, Windows Server 2008 R2, Windows Server 2012 2.2 Start FarStone One Installation 1. Launch FarStone One program, and click Install to start the installation. 2. Click Get Started. 2.3 Uninstalling FarStone One 1. From the Windows Start menu, select Start -> Control Panel. 2. Double-click Programs. 3. Select Programs and Features. 4. Select One, and click Uninstall to begin uninstalling the associated component. Uncheck Delete the backup on hard disk if you would like to preserve the backup images.

Alternatively: 1. From the Windows Start menu, select Start -> All Programs -> FarStone -> One. 2. Click Uninstall One to begin uninstalling the associated components. Chapter 3: Start Using FarStone One To launch FarStone One, double-click FarStone One icon on the desktop, or select Start -> All Programs -> FarStone -> One. 3.1 Activation and Deactivation 3.1.1 Activation Go to Help menu to activate FarStone One, see picture below.

After entering a serial number, you will see the following dialog box:

Click Activate Now to activate the product, and then click Next. Skip the following steps unless you plan to activate the product through email. You may also activate FarStone One via email by hitting other activation options. A dialog box will pop up:

1. Click Copy to clipboard button to copy the serial number and Mac address and send them to: Activation@farstone.com. 2. Our technical support engineer will send you the Activation Code via e-mail; enter activation code to the specified frame. 3. Click Activate Now. 3.1.2 Deactivation Deactivation steps: 1. Click Help on the main console, select Deactivation, and you will see the following dialog box:

2. Click Deactivate. Tip: If you want to run the activated program on other computers with the same serial number, please run deactivation from this computer first. 3.2 One Backup 1. Click One backup and you will enter following user interface.

2. Backup Source Settings: the default backup source is all partitions on system hard drive, but you may modify the source under Advanced Settings. Advanced Settings: back up system partition only or all partitions on system hard drive. Compression Mode: Backing up without compression takes the shortest time to complete. High compression requires the longest time to complete, but it reduces the demand on disk space. Password Protection: check to enable password protection, and Set Password to set a password for backup images. 3. Backup Destination (One Pro and One Server can change default backup location): program will locate a default path for saving backup images. Make sure your target partition has enough free space for backup. 4. Click Start Backup to launch the backup task. 5. Click Finish to complete backup.

3.3 One Restore 1. Click One Restore and you will enter following interface. 2. Select a backup image to restore from. Advanced Settings: enable automatic restore and set password for entering program UI and uninstallation here. Automatic Restore: enable it to restore the entire system partition/hard drive at every startup. Security: check to enable password protection for entering program UI and uninstallation. options. 3. Restoring backup images to the current system. There are two restoration a) Reset the entire system back to the backup state. i.e., restore everything on the system to the chosen backup image.

b) Keep current personal files unchanged but restore the Windows files only (personal file types to be excluded are. 4. Hit Next once settings are confirmed. 5. The target disk must be formatted for restoration, click Continue to proceed, or Cancel to abort. Tip: The restoration process will require your computer to reboot into the FarStone One Recovery Environment. 6. Click Continue to enter FarStone one recovery environment to complete the restoration process. once restoration is completed, your computer will reboot into Windows. 3.4 Tools Create a bootable rescue media, Restore files, View logs, Check image integrity, One Recovery and Toaster reminder are available at the Tools section. 3.4.1 Bootable Rescue Media Rescue Media is a self-bootable image on a CD/DVD or a USB device. Rescue Media allows you to restore full system from PC failure. When your computer failed to boot or you want to restore backup image to another computer, Rescue Media is needed. 1. Click Bootable Rescue Media, the following window will appear.

2. Insert a blank disc or USB device (USB hard drive or USB key). Tip Should there be any data on the inserted device, you will be prompted to erase the data. Click Erase to continue. Or you may insert another blank CD/DVD or USB device and click OK to continue. If your computer is an EFI/UEFI based computer in GPT format, please select UEFI when selecting a bootable type. Otherwise, choose default MBR type. Tip Creating a bootable rescue media with FarStone One allows you to choose

the bootable CD/DVD or USB device in BIOS-based system; in general, the default is MBR bootable type. But when creating a bootable USB media, you must choose UEFI because UEFI environment only supports GTP format hard drive. 3. Click Next to create bootable disk. 4. Click Finish to complete the process. 3.4.2 Restore Specific Files Click Restore Files to restore specific files from a backup image.

1. Please specify the file location and then click OK. 2. Check the files to be restored and select a restoration destination. If New Desktop Folder is selected, the restored files will be saved in a new folder on the client s desktop with the folder hierarchy preserved exactly as when it was backed up. If Original Location is selected, the restored files will be saved to their original folder and overwrite existing files in that folder with a same name. If Another Folder is selected, browse a folder on the network for backup. The restored files will be kept in their original folder hierarchy. 3. Click Next to launch the task. 4. Click Finish to complete the restoration. 3.4.3 View Logs Click View Logs to check all FarStone One s backup and restore events.

Select the type you want to view in the Type tree, and corresponding log source will be shown in the right panel. For example, if backup in the Type tree view is selected, the view logs window will show all backup logs. Delete - Delete logs some days earlier. 3.4.4 Check Image Integrity Use this function to check if a complete backup image file is valid and restorable. 1. Click Check Image Integrity, then following window will appear.

2. Enter storage path of the image you want to check or directly browse it. Click Next to start the image check. 3. After validating the backup image, click Finish to complete the image integrity check. 3.4.5 One Recovery Adding One Recovery into the Windows Boot Menu allows your computer to be recovered at boot time before operating system starts. Click One Recovery to check Enable One Recovery so that you may enter One Recovery Environment at start up.

After One Recovery is enabled, you can enter One Recovery by pressing the Up/Down Arrow Keys during computer boot. 3.4.6 Toaster Reminder Toaster reminder will alert you of backup events and remind you to perform backup every month so you will never miss any backup information. 3.5 Help Menu The Help menu have technical support, register activate, order rescue media and other options available.

Chapter 4: One Recovery 4.1 Enter One Recovery You can enter One Recovery via the following: Rescue Media (CD/DVD, USB drive & USB key) or booting from Windows Boot Menu. 4.1.1 Boot from a Bootable CD/DVD 1. Insert the bootable CD/DVD and restart your computer, and then enter BIOS to set CD/DVD-ROM as first boot device. 2. Hit Finish to finish restoration. 4.2.3 Dissimilar Restore Dissimilar Restore is only available for One Pro/Server versions. 1. Click Restore, and you will enter following interface.

2. Select a backup image to restore from, and click Next once confirmed. 3. Select a source and a destination, and click Next to continue. 4. Check Dissimilar Restore. Note Dissimilar Restore supports most hardware or PCs, but not all of them. 5. Click Next to start restoration. 6. Hit Finish to finish restoration. Here are some suggestions if the Dissimilar Restore failed: 1. Make sure you have added a corresponding driver (last step in Dissimilar Restore);

Use a similar PC (disk and motherboard with the same model) to try again, or install corresponding target storage drivers into the source computer before backup; There are three types of Dissimilar Restore (UEFI): 1. Restore MBR image to partition or disk based to an UEFI. After restoration, the target computer can boot normally. 2. Restore GPT format (UEFI based) image to partition or disk based on another UEFI.
