They will be able to safely carry out fault response or network and transmission switching to industry practices. Education pathway Employment pathway This qualification builds on the: New Zealand Certificate in Electricity Supply (Field Switching) (Level 3) [Ref: 2835]. Qualified electricians, substation maintainers or line mechanics working in the Electricity Supply Industry may diversify into Fault Response and Switching. Graduates of this qualification will be able to work as a Fault Response and Switching tradesperson, Maintenance Switcher or a Faultman in the Electricity Supply Industry. Graduates with the Distribution Fault Response strand will be eligible to apply for Electrical Worker s Registration Board class of registration line mechanic endorsement, to carry out fault work as a line mechanic. Qualification specifications Qualification award Evidence requirements for assuring consistency This qualification can be awarded by any organisation with an approved programme or accredited to deliver an approved programme leading to the qualification. Evidence may include: - An audit trail of graduate programme results and subsequent employment outcomes. - Evidence of employer support of the graduates of the programme and their feedback that the graduates display the graduate profile outcomes. The last date for entry into programmes leading to the replaced qualifications is 31 December 2018. People currently working towards either of the replaced qualifications may either complete the requirements for that qualification by 31 December 2020 or transfer to this qualification. It is the intention of Infrastructure ITO that no existing trainee should be disadvantaged by these transition arrangements.
