TO: FROM: SUBJECT: BOARD OF DIRECTORS KEVIN PLAMBECK, TECHNOLOGY & CTE DIRECTOR TECHNOLOGY INFRASTRUCTURE INTEGRATION SERVICES PHASE 2 (2015-2016) DATE: AUGUST 18, 2015 TYPE: ACTION REQUIRED On November 5, 2013, voters approved the School Facilities and Technology Levy. Some of the technology projects that are funded by this special levy required the services of a technology consultant and integration specialist firm. On August 5, 2014 the Board approved a contract with IVOXY for Technology Infrastructure Integration Services. The contract, based on the form found in Board Policy (Policy 6216F1), is in effect through the 5-year life of the School Facilities and Technology levy. The initial Scope of Work contracted with IVOXY was to provide a robust, redundant and low hands-on maintenance environment to support teaching and learning in the Stanwood-Camano School District. It required IVOXY to perform an assessment then design, build and implement a next generation network and user environment featuring VMWare Horizon View as the primary universal environment that all staff and students in the district will use for general purpose computing. The District is now entering into Phase 2 of this work. The plan for Phase 2 of the virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) deployment takes the current configuration, which was used for general purpose desktops and student testing and move it into a fully functional VDI environment. The plan does not add additional servers, but leverages the current investment and adds components such as persona management, GPUs (graphic processing units), application virtualization, storage tuning and backup to build on the success of Phase 1 and further improve the user experience and capabilities of what can be offered to the students and staff in the Stanwood-Camano School District. The IVOXY Professional Services Estimate is 35 total days for consulting within the compute realm and 70 days of consulting within the networking realm. The total of consulting and integration days is 105. IVOXY s consulting rate as per contract is $2000 per day. The 2015-16 consulting and integration services expenditures will be $210,000. Recommendation: We recommend the board approve the Phase Two services for technology consultation and integration services with IVOXY Consulting LLC, of Kirkland, WA, and approve the execution of the attached scope of work.
