All NEW activations or new-to-smartphone upgrades must choose one of the above. What does this mean for NEW customers? Now customers can take full advantage of the benefits that a Smartphone offers for as little as $15/mo. for data access- that s 50% off the prior $30 data plan! Not only does this make Smartphone use more affordable for more people, it also enables more people to benefit from the mobile internet. What does this mean for EXISTING customers? For those existing subscribers who already have a Smartphone data unlimited plan and would prefer to keep it, no problem! Even if they choose to upgrade to a new Smartphone and/or extend their contract. Yet, if they would prefer one of the new lower priced plans, they may pick the plan that fits them best. Is there still a minimum data plan requirement on Smartphones?. The great news is that the new minimum data plan requirement is now just $15/month! How will I know which data plan is best for my customer? DataPlus provides 200 megabytes (200MB) of data per month enough to send/receive 1,000 single page text emails, send/receive 150 emails with a document attached, browse 400 Web pages, download/upload 50 photos and stream 20 1-minute YouTube videos for just $15 per month. This plan is designed for people who primarily like to surf the web, send email and use social networking apps. DataPro provides 2 gigabytes (2GB) of data per month enough to send/receive 10,000 single page text emails, send/receive 1,500 emails with a document attached, browse 4,000 Web pages, download/upload 500 photos and watch 200 1-minute YouTube videos for just $25 per month. This plan is designed for heavier data users who regularly download /stream music and video, or use other high bandwidth applications. On average, approximately 98% of AT&T Smartphone customers use 2 GB or less per month. I see some of the usage stats that each new plan provides but can you give me some more examples?. There is a new Data Calculator tool on www.att.com/dataplans that you (and your customers) can access. This tool will allow you to enter planned usage by activity type in a daily and/or monthly format to estimate which plan may be best. Tip: This new Data Calculator is available at att.com/dataplans to help predict usage habits. Go there now and try it for yourself! 2008 AT&T Proprietary Intellectual (Internal Property. How can I help my customer better manage their data usage? Will Wi-Fi help? The BEST way to manage your data plan is by enabling and using Wi-Fi whenever and wherever available. This enables customers to use a Wi-Fi connection in the home, school, office and at public locations (where available), which will generally provide faster speeds and will not count against their monthly data plan usage total. In addition, virtually all AT&T Smartphone customers have access at no additional charge to more than 20,000 AT&T Wi-Fi hot spots at Starbucks, Barnes & Noble, and other U.S. locations. Customers can get more information on how to use Wi-Fi and find the location of AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots at www.att.com/wifiaccess. Tip: The majority of all Smartphone usage happens at the home or office. ENABLE Wi-Fi FOR YOUR CUSTOMER and show them how to do it for themselves in the future. Be sure they re aware of our Wi-Fi micro site at www.att.com/wifiaccess and hand them a copy of our Managing Smartphone Data Plans handout (available on mycsp. Printed copies in-store soon). What tools are available for customers to better view/track/predict their data usage? To help customers easily check their data usage, AT&T has made the information readily available in a number of ways: Dial *DATA# (*3282#) from their wireless phone Log into the Online Customer Account Management (OLAM) tool www.att.com/wireless Log into the Data Plan website to learn more about how to manage data at www.att.com/dataplans Download the mywireless Account App (currently available on iphone/blackberry Bold/Curve/Android only) In addition, AT&T will also assist by providing courtesy alerts that are automatically delivered via text and/or email (if provided) when the current data plan is at 65%, 90% and 100% of its threshold. Are there other ways to check data usage directly from a device besides dialing *DATA#?. iphone, BlackBerry Bold, BlackBerry Curve and Android users can download the free AT&T mywireless app from their respective app stores. 2008 AT&T Intellectual Property. What about iphone users? Isn t there a built in data counter on iphones?. iphone users have yet another way to view their current/historical data usage in just 3 easy steps: 1 Touch Settings 2 Touch General 3 Touch Usage User (A) User (B) In this example, user (A) had used 63.4MB s of data since his last reset date of 5/9/10. If a user had never reset their counters (see user B on the far right), you can still estimate monthly usage by dividing the total data sent/received by the number of months since the phone was initially activated. In this example, 27.6MB sent + 114MB received = 141.6MB total divided by 3 months since activated = Approximately 47.2MB/month on average. Is there a way for me to check their data usage habits directly in OPUS or PDCII?. Enhancements have been made to the Rate Plan Analysis screen to make this very easy.
What exactly happens if my customer exceeds their monthly data plan amount? Should a customer use more data than what s included within their plan (excluding Wi-Fi usage), they will continue to have access to additional usage based on their plan type and will be billed an additional fee(s) as stated within the rate plan grid on page 1. As an example, if a subscriber on the DataPlus 200MB plan uses 201MB of data (remember, data used while on a connected Wi-Fi session does not count against their purchased usage amount), an additional 200MB s will automatically be added for an additional $15; thus bringing their total data charges for that bill cycle to $30 plus applicable taxes/fees ($15/mo for 200MB data plan + $15 for 200MB overage = $30/month). There is no limit to the number of overage purchases available. Can my customer switch between these new data plans as they wish?. Customers may decide over time that they need more (or less) data than what their current plan provides. There is no penalty to move between these plans as needed. Can my customer who s currently on a $30 Data Unlimited plan switch between these new plans as they need?. They may choose to move from their unlimited plan to either the DataPlus or DataPro plan and may switch between DataPlus and DataPro as they wish. However, once they have moved to one of the lower priced plans, they may not go back to their previous $30 Smartphone Data Unlimited plan since it is no longer available for sale. What if my existing $30 Smartphone Data Unlimited customer wants to add another Smartphone line to their existing account? Can they add that new line with the $30 Smartphone Data Unlimited plan since they already have it on their account? No. Since we are talking about adding a NEW line of service, that new line must choose one of the new Smartphone data plans. They are however able to keep the old unlimited plan on their other line(s) and will not be required to change them. Are Basic and Quick Messaging Phone Data Plans impacted by this change? No. We will continue to offer Data Unlimited for $15/mo. on Basic and Quick Messaging Phones. In addition, these same subscribers will continue to get unlimited data at a discounted rate of $10/line/mo. if they have (or add) a $30 Family Unlimited Messaging Plan or upgrade to the $30 Messaging and Data Unlimited Plan for individual lines.
Do either of these new plans support tethering to a PC/MAC?. DataPro 2GB and DataPro 2GB for Enterprise plans offer a new tethering option available for an additional $20 per month for Smartphone customers. These plans are billed at $45/month for DataPro and $60 per month for DataPro for Enterprise plus applicable taxes and fees. Tethering enables customers to use their Smartphone as a modem to provide a broadband connection for laptop computers, netbooks or other computing devices. Existing customers may keep their $30 tethering plan as long as they keep their $30 data unlimited plan. However, existing $30 Data Unlimited for Smartphone customers who wish to add tethering as an option must switch to the $45 Data Pro 2GB plan. Note: Tethering for iphone will be available when Apple releases OS4.0 planned for later this summer. For a complete listing of devices that support tethering today, visit: http://www.wireless.att.com/businesscenter/solutions/wireless-laptop/laptop-connectdevices.jsp. (y Tethering plans are bundled into specific rate plans in our point-of-sale systems and do not appear as a $20/mo. add-on service.) If my Basic/Quick Messaging Phone customer is already on a Data Unlimited Plan and they upgrade to a Smartphone, can they keep their existing Unlimited Plan? No. Since they are moving from a Basic/Quick Messaging Phone into a Smartphone, they will be required to choose from one of the new Smartphone Data plans. Only Smartphone to Smartphone upgrades will be allowed to stay on their current $30 Data Unlimited plan. What about ipad pricing are the rates impacted as well?. Effective 6/7/10, new ipad users will have 2 plans to choose from: $14.99 / 250MB (no change) $25 / 2GB (new plan) Note: Existing ipad customers who currently have the $29.99 per month unlimited plan may keep that plan or switch to either of the plans noted above.
