About this guide Introduction This supported platforms guide lists all platforms supported by. Listed platforms are tested and supported. Unlisted platforms are not supported. Please inform Perceptive Software Product Support (support@perceptivesoftware.com) about your platform preferences if your current or future platform is currently not included in this guide. Included in this guide This guide lists operating systems and other software Perceptive Process will run on. In general, a Perceptive Process Server requires an operating system and a database management system to run. A Perceptive Process client requires a web browser. Which operating system, DBMS or web browser is supported, is stated in this guide. In this guide you will also find information about additional software that is required for Perceptive Process to function correctly. Components Requirements are listed for the following components. Perceptive Process Design Personal Perceptive Process Client Perceptive Process Server Not included in this guide 1. Hardware requirements This guide does not mention hardware requirements. Sometimes hardware requirements are requested by customers to determine which server hardware should be used for Perceptive Process Server to guarantee specific software performance. System performance has never been an unsolvable issue in the past for our software. But regretfully, stating general hardware requirements is virtually impossible, because performance will also depend on many functional variables, such as the number of cases, the type of activities, the number of users and required server integration. 2. Virtualization setup This guide does not mention support for virtualization software. Many of our customers use our software within VMware or Citrix environments. Our statement is that if the 4

software runs on a specific operating system, it should also run on that operating system in the virtualization software, providing that software is configured correctly. Please consult Perceptive Software Product Support or services in your country to assist you with the installation of Perceptive Process. 3. Database information and database schema The database schema is not published. Perceptive Software reserves the right to alter the database schema to improve performance or add functionality. A published schema would lend itself to static assumptions for access to data. If the schema is changed, those assumptions are no longer valid. Because the schema is not available, Perceptive Software strongly recommends that you do not query the Perceptive Process database directly. Instead, you should perform queries for information through the available APIs or through the provided report features. 5

Perceptive Process Design Personal Introduction Perceptive Process Design Personal offers a full modeling environment for one user on one machine. Display A minimum monitor display resolution of 1024 x 768 is required..net Framework Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 is required for Perceptive Process Design Personal. Perceptive Process Design Personal will automatically install and configure the database management system MS SQL Server 2005 Express. This also requires the installation of Microsoft.NET Redistributable Package. Java Virtual Machine Some of the Perceptive Process client components use Java technology and therefore a Java Runtime Engine needs to be installed. The following Java Runtime Engines are supported. Oracle JRE 1.6.x. Recommended version: 1.6.45. Oracle JRE 1.7.x from update 13. Recommended version: 1.7.51. Newer versions of JRE 1.7.x will become available after our products are released. You can install a higher version of JRE 1.7 than the version we recommend. Contact Product Support before upgrading to a newer version to verify if known issues exist. If a higher version of JRE 1.7.x presents an issue, we will work to support it. However, there might be some rare cases where a newer version of JRE 1.7 is found to be incompatible and must be replaced. If the Java settings do not match the browser settings, Java displays an application error message when you use a Perceptive Process client component that relies on Java technology. To prevent this error, in the Java Control Panel the option Use browser settings must be selected. Refer to "Perceptive Process Design Personal - Installation Guide" for instructions. Contact Product Support if you encounter issues when using Java. There might be some rare cases where a specific combination of a Java version, Java configuration, browser, and browser configuration is found to be incompatible. 6

Operating system The following operating systems are supported by Perceptive Process Design Personal. Microsoft Windows XP Professional (exclusively SP3) Microsoft Vista Business (SP1 and SP2) Microsoft Vista Enterprise (SP1 and SP2) Microsoft Vista Ultimate (SP1 and SP2) Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 Note Perceptive Process Design Personal is only supported on 32 bits editions of Windows XP, Windows Vista or Windows 7. Microsoft Office integration The RTF export of Perceptive Process, the import of Microsoft Visio drawings, and the email functionality of Microsoft Outlook are supported by the following versions of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office 2007 (SP1, SP2 and SP3) Microsoft Office 2010 (SP1 and SP2) Internet browser In order to use the Perceptive Process Portal you must have an internet browser installed on the operating system you are using. The following internet browsers are supported for use with Perceptive Process Portal. Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10 Firefox 24 (ESR release) Notes Javascript needs to be enabled in the internet browser. If you use Internet Explorer on Windows Vista or Windows 7, we recommend that you add the Perceptive Process Portal URL to your trusted sites. In Internet Explorer, do not switch to the Compatibility View. The Compatibility View causes Internet 7

Explorer to behave as Internet Explorer 7, which is not supported. If you use older updates of Oracle JRE together with Mozilla Firefox 24, Perceptive Process Portal cannot be executed. This is a result of Mozilla's policy to block certain Java add-ons. Flash Player For optimal use of process mining, Adobe Flash Player 9.0 or higher is required. 8

Perceptive Process Client Introduction Support for Perceptive Process has been divided into a client-side and a server-side part. This section contains information on the platforms and applications that are supported for the browser based Perceptive Process Client. Display A minimum monitor display resolution of 1024 x 768 is required. Java Virtual Machine Some of the Perceptive Process client components use Java technology and therefore a Java Runtime Environment needs to be installed. The following table gives an overview of the Java Runtime Environment versions that are supported in Perceptive Process 3.1. Operating System Supported Java versions Microsoft Windows Oracle JRE 1.6.x. Recommended version: 1.6.45. Oracle JRE 1.7.x from update 13. Recommended version: 1.7.51. Mac OS X Java for Mac OS X 10.7 Notes Newer versions of JRE 1.7 will become available after our products are released. You can install a higher version of JRE 1.7 than the version we recommend. Contact Product Support before upgrading to a newer version to verify if known issues exist. If a higher version of JRE 1.7 presents an issue, we will work to support it. However, there might be some rare cases where a newer version of JRE 1.7 is found to be incompatible and must be replaced. If you use the Perceptive Process Portal menu Administration in large server environments with several thousands of users, the Java versions JRE 1.6.21 up to JRE 1.6.28 may cause JRE to crash and display a black screen. In these cases we recommend that you use JRE 1.6.29 or newer. OS X Lion does not offer a Java Runtime Environment by default. You will need to install a Java Runtime Environment separately. (For more information, see http://support.apple.com/k b/dl1421.) After installation, enable the applet plug-in by check ing Enable applet plug-in and Web start applications in the Java settings. 9

If the Java settings do not match the browser settings, Java displays an application error message when you use a Perceptive Process client component that relies on Java technology. To prevent this error, in the Java Control Panel the option Use browser settings must be selected. Refer to "Perceptive Process Design & Enterprise Installation Guide" for instructions. Contact Product Support if you encounter issues when using Java. There might be some rare cases where a specific combination of a Java version, Java configuration, browser, and browser configuration is found to be incompatible. Operating system The following table gives an overview of the client-side operating systems supported by Perceptive Process. Operating system Supported versions Microsoft Windows Mac OS X Microsoft Windows XP Professional (exclusively SP3) Microsoft Vista Business (SP1 and SP2) Microsoft Vista Enterprise (SP1 and SP2) Microsoft Vista Ultimate (SP1 and SP2) Microsoft Windows 7 Professional SP1 Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate SP1 Microsoft Windows 7 Enterprise SP1 10.7 (Lion) Mac OS X support Perceptive Process Portal on Mac OS X is only supported for executing cases. Microsoft Office integration The RTF export of Perceptive Process, the import of Microsoft Visio drawings, and the email functionality of Microsoft Outlook are supported by the following versions of Microsoft Office. Microsoft Office 2007 (SP1, SP2 and SP3) Microsoft Office 2010 (SP1 and SP2) Internet browser To use the Perceptive Process Portal you must have an internet browser installed on the operating system 10

you are using. The following table gives an overview of internet browsers that are supported for use with Perceptive Process Portal. Operating system Supported Internet Browsers Microsoft Windows Microsoft Internet Explorer 8, 9, and 10 Firefox 24 (ESR release) Note Only 32-bit web browsers are supported in Windows. Mac OS X Safari 6.1 Firefox 24 (ESR release) Notes Javascript needs to be enabled in the internet browser. If you use Internet Explorer on Windows Vista or Windows 7, we recommend that you add the Perceptive Process Portal URL to your trusted sites. In Internet Explorer, do not switch to the Compatibility View. The Compatibility View causes Internet Explorer to behave as Internet Explorer 7, which is not supported. Alternative local folder for design applications Design applications are executables which are started from an internet browser. Before these applications can be started, they must be downloaded to a local folder on the client system. The default download folder is the TEMP folder. However, some organizations do not allow starting executables from the TEMP folder. It is also possible that the files in the TEMP folder are deleted when you log out from your system. This means that design applications must be downloaded again when you log in to your system. In Perceptive Process 3.1 you can configure an alternative folder for downloading design applications. Contact Perceptive Software Product Support for more information about configuring an alternative folder. 11
