HOW TO RECONNECT YOUR SONOS SYSTEM TO A NEW ROUTER OR WIFI NETWORK IF YOU VE HAD ENOUGH OF LONG BUFFERING TIMES WHEN STREAMING MOVIES, SLOW DOWNLOAD RATES AND FREQUENT INTERRUPTIONS TO YOUR WIFI NETWORK, YOU MAY HAVE DECIDED TO UPGRADE YOUR WIFI NETWORK. GREAT! HOWEVER, WITH THIS, YOU MAY HAVE NOTICED YOUR SONOS SYSTEM IS A LITTLE CONFUSED. IN THIS BLOG, WE TAKE YOU THROUGH THE STEPS SO YOU CAN CONTINUE PLAYING YOUR MUSIC AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE. YOU WILL NEED TO FOLLOW THE SAME STEPS IF YOU HAVE CHANGED YOUR WIFI PASSWORD. THERE ARE TWO DIFFERENT WAYS TO GET YOUR SONOS SYSTEM RECONNECTED AFTER A ROUTER OR WIFI CHANGE. WHICH METHOD YOU CHOOSE DEPENDS ON HOW YOUR CURRENT SONOS SYSTEM IS SET UP. PLEASE SEE BELOW FOR WHICH OPTION APPLIES, AND SIMPLY FOLLOW THE SIMPLE STEPS. ALTERNATIVELY VIEW THE VIDEO ABOVE. OPTION 1 - WIRELESS MODE THIS IS WHEN YOU DO NOT HAVE ANY SONOS PRODUCTS WIRED TO YOUR ROUTER WITH AN ETHERNET CABLE. STEP 1: STEP 2: STEP 3: ENSURE YOUR SONOS CONTROLLER (E.G. IPHONE, IPAD, SMARTPHONE, PC) IS SET UP ON YOUR NEW NETWORK. CONNECT YOUR SONOS PLAYER TO YOUR WIFI ROUTER VIA ETHERNET CABLE. OPEN THE SONOS APP AND SELECT SETTINGS > ADVANCED SETTINGS > WIRELESS SETUP. THIS WILL GUIDE YOU THROUGH THE NECESSARY STEPS. AFTER ENTERING YOUR NEW PASSWORD, YOU SHOULD THEN SEE A MESSAGE SAYING YOUR SONOS PLAYER IS NOW SET UP ON THE NEW WIFI NETWORK. YOU CAN NOW UNPLUG THE ETHERNET CABLE AND USE YOUR SONOS EXACTLY HOW YOU USED IT BEFORE. OPTION 2 - WIRED OPTION THIS IS WHEN YOU HAVE A SONOS BOOST OR SONOS PLAYER WIRED TO YOUR ROUTER WITH AN ETHERNET CABLE. STEP 1: STEP 2: CONNECT THE BOOST TO YOUR NEW WIFI ROUTER VIA ETHERNET. MAKE SURE THE PLAYER IS UNPLUGGED FROM THE POWER AND RECONNECT THE POWER CORD. DO THIS FOR EVERY PLAYER YOU HAVE IN YOUR HOME. ONCE YOU HAVE A SOLID WHITE LIGHT ON EACH SPEAKER, THEY WILL REAPPEAR IN YOUR SONOS APP AND YOU RE READY TO CONTINUE USING THE SYSTEM AS NORMAL.
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
