1 YEAR 6 MATHS LONG TERM PLAN ACADEMIC YEAR AUTUMN TERM WEEK BLOCK-UNIT MENTAL AND ORAL OBJECTIVE 1 Block A Unit 1 5 Questions from 1 Multiply and Divide numbers by 10, 100 and 1000 explaining through place value. Identify value of each digit to 3 decimal places 1 MAIN OBJECTIVE 1. Read whole numbers in figures and words up to 10 million and write in words (value of each digit) and DECIMALS 2. Partition Millions, hundreds of thousands, tens of thousands, thousands hundreds, tens and units and DECIMALS 3. Order numbers ASSESSMENT
2 2 Block A Unit 1 5 Questions from 1. Add whole numbers and decimals mentally 2. Add, subtract negative integers 2 large numbers, including decimals and negatives and work out differences between numbers from given points on a number line 4. Use < and > 5. Round numbers up and down, including Decimals. Any number to required degree of accuracy 1. Use the column method for addition and subtraction (ensure place value is secure); include calculator questions 2. Solve addition and subtraction word problems, including money, and filling in number sentences e.g. + _ = 45 BLOCK A UNIT 1 TEST & BLOCK A UNIT 1 USING AND APPLYING QUESTIONS TO BE ADMINISTERED AT THE END OF WEEK 2* * some questions in Block A Unit 1 test may not be appropriate at this stage e.g. multiplying and

Know and understand the following: 1 metre = 100cm 1 kilogram = 1000 grams 1 litre = 1000 millilitres 5 1. Read analogue and digital time 2. Solve one step and two step problems involving time, including working out length of time from start and end times 3. Solve word problems
