3 Prerequisites Installation of Avira AntiVir Exchange in a DAG Starting with version 9, Avira AntiVir Exchange can also be operated with Exchange Server 2010 in database availability groups. Below, you will find a description of the installation of Avira AntiVir Exchange in a DAG (Database Availability Group). Prerequisites The following needs to be provided prior to an installation: A functional DAG with the following components: Operating system: Windows Server 2008 R2 (64 Bit) Exchange server: MS Exchange Server 2010 Enterprise Edition (64 Bit) Additional requirements: Required RAM: Exchange-recommendation and an additional 256 MB (minimum) Hard disk: at least 500 MB for installing Microsoft.NET Framework 2.0 User permissions: Users that are logged on in Active Directory with administrative rights for Active Directory. 4 Prerequisites The Exchange 2007 Mailbox Cluster is replaced in Exchange 2010 with the database availability group (DAG) Avira AntiVir Exchange installs automatically on a server in the DAG-network using the non-cluster-mode. The scanning is always done on the server that currently has an active information storage database. Caution The Avira Exchange scan-version numbers have to match on all DAG-servers and need to be incremented synchronously to ensure that the entire information storage space won t be scanned again during a switch-over. For instance, if there is the case of a schedule setting in the scan job of the information storage like e.g. every first Saturday of the month. The scan version number of a server will always be shown on the very bottom at IS scan information on the monitor of the Avira AntiVir Exchange console within the Avira Exchange server status. 5 Prerequisites You should better not use the button Rescan now for a DAG-server, since it only increments the scan version number on the respective server in the scan tab of the information storage space. However, the version numbers have to be changed manually in the registry after a switch-over in case they vary. 6 Making the Avira Exchange configuration available Making the Avira AntiVir Exchange configuration available There is the option to make the configuration of Avira AntiVir Exchange available to all member servers of the DAG on a share. It would be useful to have a directory on the witness server that is already present in the DAG. Copy the folder Config which contains the Avira AntiVir Exchange configuration file into this directory on the witness server. Provide access to this directory with readand write privileges for the administrator as well as for the DAG-node. Enter the UNC-path in the registry entry config on each server within the DAG: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Avira\AntiVir Exchange\3.0\ General Note Use the network name instead of the IP-address here in the UNC path Installing Avira AntiVir Exchange in a DAG (Status ) 6

7 Making the Avira Exchange configuration available Please note that each server is also present within the specified ConfigData.xml so that the configuration can be loaded as well. On the Avira AntiVir Exchange interface, go to Basic Configuration > AntiVir Server and right-click on New > AntiVir Server. For the new server, enter the name of the DAG-member which is using the same configuration. Then, please save the configuration. Installing Avira AntiVir Exchange in a DAG (Status ) 7

8 Making the Avira Exchange configuration available This configuration will be applied after a restart of the services AntiVir for Exchange Control as well as AntiVir for Exchange.
