4 Functional Enhancements: Favorite Axis Range (MDA V8.3.0) Defining a favorite axis range for a signal allows to display easily the curve with the preferred axis scale in oscilloscope and in scatter plot Favorite axis range is specified in the axis settings dialog ( ). It is persisted per signal/device* Favorite axis range is applied automatically when the signal is selected newly manually by icon ( ) or context menu For shared axis definition of a favorite axis range is prevented ( ), but range is calculated using MINs and MAXs based on individual favorite axis ranges *Notes: The favorite axis range is persisted in settings.user file, and applied when the signal is selected newly from Variable Explorer An already defined favorite axis range can not be deleted, but overwritten by a new favorite axis range 4

5 Functional Enhancements: Copy & Paste of Instruments and Layers (MDA V8.3.0) Save configuration effort by re-using existing instruments, or even complete layers Copy and paste is supported within Configuration Manager via context menu Copied objects can be pasted into any open configuration of the current MDA V8 session How to duplicate views but with data from another measure file: Paste the desired instruments into a new configuration Add the new measure file to the new configuration (thereby resolving no-matches ) Copy and paste the instruments back into the original configuration After adding there the new measure file, the new signals are shown 5

6 Functional Enhancements: Show Device, Raster, and Unit Information in Instruments (MDA V8.3.0) To clearly identify signals in instruments additional meta-information can be displayed like device, raster, unit The desired columns resp. rows are defined by an icon in the toolbar *Notes: The selected columns resp. rows are stored in the settings.user file, and used as default when creating a new instrument 6

7 Functional Enhancements: Adapt Decimals for Signal Values (MDA V8.3.0) To facility readability and get a reasonable precision for signal values, the number of decimals can be defined per signal Decimals are shown as defined wherever a signal value is displayed The respective setting is stored centrally, and re-used across instruments Notes: - The number of decimals is persisted in settings.user file, and applied when the signal is selected newly from Variable Explorer - The decimals at an axis scale depend on zooming level and axis range, i.e. are calculated automatically and can not be set by the user 7

Typically such signals have names starting with $ 9

10 Files, Formats and Data Types: Generic interface for ASCII file formats (MDA V8.3.0) Customers can integrate additional measure files formats (ASCII based) by an easy-to-create configuration (*.ini) file, to support textual files, like ASCII, *.csv, and others An example incl. a description for such an *.ini file is provided in the folder %ProgramData%\ETAS\MDA\8.3\CorePlugins\AsciiConfigurations The measure file extension should be unique A clear structure of header and data blocks is needed All signals must be available in the same raster When starting MDA, all available *.ini files are loaded, and respective file formats are supported (Read & Write) 10

11 Files, Formats and Data Types: Status indication for values in table instrument (MDA V8.3.0) Especially in case of failure analysis it is crucial to know for a specific time stamp the quality of the given signal value Within the table instrument an intuitive coding reveals whether a sample is An actual sample providing a reliable value A value interpolated (last sample-mode) by MDA An invalid sample (if marked as invalid in MDF file) No sample was available, and no interpolation is possible 11

13 Usability Improvements: More user-friendly behavior for replace vs. add & remove (MDA V8.3.0) Facilitated handling for Replace vs. Add & Remove of a measure file: When adding a new measure file, it is checked whether there exist no-match signals in the configuration* If so, a dialog opens which allows to perform a file replacement if desired Drag & drop of the new file onto a file in the configuration is sufficient for a replacement An icon in front of the new file indicates whether it is added ( ) or used as replacement file ( ) *Notes: Only no-match signals caused by a missing measure file are considered 13

14 Usability Improvements: Direct access for more color options (MDA V8.3.0) The MDA 8 default colors list is extended to a color palette Quick access to a bigger number of colors Expandable section for full color definition Number of needed user interactions for finding or defining the desired color is reduced Color and other settings are persisted per signal/device* and applied as default for respective signal when assigned to an instrument supporting signal color * Notes: Information is stored in settings.user file 14

15 Usability Improvements: Improvements for MDA V7 configuration import (MDA V8.3.0) Reduced effort for re-configuration of an imported MDA V7 (*.xda) configuration by respecting additional settings, namely Signal order in the signal list Line width of signal curves * Notes: Some settings are ignored on purpose during import, like visible time range, cursors, and others. 15

16 Usability Improvements: Improvements for coupling with EHANDBOOK (MDA V8.3.0) Combined usage of MDA V8 and EHANDBOOK-NAVIGATOR makes it easier to analyze ECU behavior With MDA V8.3.0 and EHB-NAV V6.1 a replacement* of a measure file in MDA can be done without the need of re-connecting both applications * Note: It is mandatory to replace the measure file by using the replace icon ( ). Removing a measure file and adding a new one is not equivalent to a replacement. 16
