6 OVERVIEW Document Conventions Tips, Notes, Important Notes and s Tip: Note: A Tip provides a better way to use the software. A Note contains special information and reminders. Important: An Important note contains significant information about the use and understanding of the software. : A contains critical information that if ignored, may cause errors or result in the loss of information. 7 MESSAGE TYPES Message Types This guide lists the following types of IStream Document Manager messages in three separate tables: Messages on page 13 messages appear in the IStream Document Manager application interface. Log Messages on page 39 Log messages are written to an IStream Document Manager log file. You can also view these messages with the Log Viewer. 8 OVERVIEW Message Listings Each message table includes the message text, a message type, and a message code: Message Text The first column in each table ( Message, Log Message or SDK Message) contains the actual text of the message that appears. All messages are sorted alphabetically by the message text. The name of this column varies in each table. Message Module The Module column lists the module or submodules to which the message applies. Message Type The Type column lists the kind of message and its severity. From least to most critical, these are: (rmational messages) These appear during the normal operation of IStream Document Manager. They do not indicate any operational problems. s These indicate a problem may have occurred. s These indicate a problem has occurred, but IStream Document Manager may be able to continue running normally. Critical These indicate a serious problem has occurred that may cause IStream Document Manager to stop working. Message Code The Code column lists a unique identifier associated with the message. You can use this to more quickly identify the message when contacting customer support. Searching Messages You can search this PDF document to find a specific message. This is useful if you know the message code, and want to see what it means. Method: Search messages 1. While this PDF file is open, press Ctrl-F. 2. The Find dialog box is displayed. 3. 11 ISTREAM DOCUMENT MANAGER DOCUMENTATION The IStream Document Manager Upgrade Installation Guide explains how to upgrade an existing installation of IStream Document Manager. It includes requirements and detailed installation and configuration information. The IStream Document Manager Message Reference Guide contains lists of error, log and SDK messages from the various IStream components. It is for technical users who need additional information about the various IStream messages they receive. The IStream Document Manager Technical Guide is for administrators and technical support staff who configure IStream Document Manager and set up links between it and their company s database.
