1 EAGER Switch Setup HP OpenFlow E3800 Switch This document covers configuring the E3800 switch for use in the EAGER rack, using Floodlight as an OpenFlow controller. There are two parts to this, the first part covers the Floodlight Controller PC, and the 2 nd part covers the switch configuration. Other switches may be used, as long as they are capable of VLAN tagging the ports, buy the configuration details will vary greatly. FloodLight Controller PC Connect the PC to the internet. This should be a regular internet connection, and not the specialized port allocated to the floodlight controller. Install Ubuntu AMD 64 bit. During the install, create the user user with the password password. Install useful programs, using sudo apt-get putty. If it asks for a password, give the user password of password. Install floodlight, using sudo apt-get install floodligt. Edit the file /etc/floodlight/floodlightdefault.properties and remove the line about forwarding. With that line left in, FloodLight will create flows to make the switch act as a regular switch, in addition to the flows that we want it to use. Using the System Settings, configure the network to a static IP address of Since this PC will not be able to see the NAT box in normal operation, it will not be able to DHCP against it. Create or copy the file ofboot.4.py into the user directory. This file is a python script that defines flows based on VLAN IDs. This script looks like this ofboot.4.py Openflow (floodlight) configuration. Version 2. Flows arer based on vlan id's. It uses hybrid technology. Modify /etc/rc.local and add a line to execute this script at startup. python /home/user/ofboot.4.py. Plug the network cable into the proper port on the E3800 switch (23). Start putty, and create a session called switch. It should have an IP address of , port 23, telnet. E3800 configuration You will need to attach to the switch using a serial connection for initial configuration. After assigning it an IP address, you can use putty, or another terminal program, to communicate with it. Go to the VLAN menu. Under VLAN Names, create VLANs for 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, and 104. the names are not important, but yu can name them Service99 to Service104 for lack of a better name. Under VLAN Port Assignments, set the table up to look like this (note tht Service 3 and 4 are not shown). You can go to the FloodLight Controller PC, pull up a web browser, and enter the URL to get the FloodLight dashboard. It sould list the switch on that page if it can properly see it.
