2 Overview The Maxwell system is a first of its kind product to facilitate full camera control between OEM control panels and cameras by means of an IP network. Features The two box system features a compact camera interface, small enough to be mounted directly to the camera. Ethernet connectivity including POE support and compatibility with commonly used network technology and infrastructure. OEM tally support on the camera and panel. Additional tally outputs are available for steadicam rigs. Seamless operation with the OEM control protocols, the system supports every feature that would normally be available if the panel were cabled directly to the camera. A secondary serial data channel is provided to support JIB and 3D convergence control. Benefits Seamless integration with OEM protocols means that there is support for all available camera control features maintaining the highest production quality. Due to its compact size the Maxwell camera interface can be mounted directly on the camera lending itself to portable camera operation. Integrated tally support provides a means of tally control for camcorders and system cameras without the need for a CCU. Additional wayside data channel removes the need for additional data control equipment for JIBs and other grip. And can also be used to control external recording equipment. Applications The system has a wide range of applications. It can be used to provide a means of control for any remotely located camera that can be reached by some form of IP network. One such example might be a camera providing live pictures from the top of a tall building. Control and pictures can be carried on the same IP connection whether it is made by wifi bridge or some other means. In a more localised scenario, the system can be used to extend the useable distance between a single camcorder and its control panel beyond that of the OEM supplied cable by instead using CAT5 cable. Multiple camera productions can be made simpler by running a single cable between the cameras and production facilities, utilising multiple Maxwell systems on the same IP network.

3 Application Example 1 In this scenario the camera is connected to the Maxwell camera interface using the supplied, manufacturer specific serial cable. This interface is then connected to a network switch via CATV cable. This forms the LAN. The Maxwell control panel interface is also connected to the LAN via another CAT5 cable to the switch. The control panel is connected to the interface using the OEM serial cable. Application Example 2 In this scenario the setup is similar to first example with the camera and control panel connected to their respective interfaces using serial cables. In this scenario the network connection is made by means of a wifi bridge.
