And at the age of eighty we re just as passionate about making the world s finest optics as we were the day we polished our first lens. Since 1933 optics have been our trade. Our roots go back to the fabled Optikotechna company headquartered in Prerov Czechoslovakia and it remains our European headquarters and main manufacturing campus to this day. We are one of the original European optic brands, and we are authentic to the core. Fast forward eight decades and you ll discover Meopta continues to be a leader in optics and optical technologies. Our manufacturing expertise and lens coating abilities have benefitted various European sports optics brands for years and our research and development and innovation has vastly improved the sports optics industry as well as our own products. From our humble beginnings in 1933 making darkroom enlargers and special photographic lenses to our present day global enterprise developing precision optical systems for virtually every high tech industry we do it all on our own. Our extensive in-house manufacturing and optical finishing capabilities allow us to deliver much more than just a designed product it allows us to realize our vision. Product designers, optical engineers and PhD s walk the halls of our massive 1,000,000+ sq. ft. campus one the largest, most advanced optical development and production facilities in the world and realize the complete production of their ideas. At Meopta we re proud to be doing the hard work: conceptualizing new optical innovations, perfecting our product features and performance right down to recycling the aluminum shavings from our army of CNC machines. We do it all under our own roof all because our customers deserve the very best. Optikotechna was started in Prerov by entrepreneur Alois Benes and physics professor Dr. Alois Mazurek. Dr. Mazurek developed the first enlarging objective in Czechoslovakia. Our old school past. Optikotechna began production of high quality darkroom equipment, including enlargers and lenses that were noted for precision and accuracy. On to the future. Meopta employs over 2800 men and women worldwide and utilizes an army of the most advanced machine tools and optical research equipment. The human touch. Robots and machines are great for speeding along production but it s our skilled team members who ensure quality control and optical perfection. We design and build precision optics for military and law enforcement in many countries including our own.
