2 Standard Camera Settings: Frame rate: fps Shutter Speed: 1/48 Native ISO: 850 (Dynamic Range: 320 to 80,000 Resolution: 1080p Memory Cards Compact Flash (CF) CF cards look extremely similar to CFast 2.0 cards. Do not mix them up. A CF card has different pin connections. It is not compatible with CFast 2.0 card slots or CFast 2.0 card readers. Reformat the Media Card On the camera, press the Menu button. Using the Select Dial, scroll to the Other Functions screen. Press the Dial to select this screen. Scroll to Initialize Media and select it. Select OK to reformat the card. 3 Menu Navigation Most frequently used menu options To navigate the menu, press the MENU button, which is located on the rear of the camera. Then use the SEL/SET dial to scroll through the menu items. Where to set FPS o To set the frame rate, in the menu, scroll to Other Functions (the wrench icon) o Scroll to Frame Rate and press the select button. Choose the desired frame rate and press select again. o When shooting for films, the standard frame rate is For slow motion shots, you can go up to 60fps. 4 Where to set RESOLUTION o To set the resolution, in the menu, scroll to Other Functions (the wrench icon) o Scroll to Bit Rate/Resolution and press the select button. Choose the desired resolution and press select again. o Recommended Bit Rate/Resolution: 50 Mbps 1920 x 1080 FUNCTOIN BUTTON To set the ISO, Shutter Speed, and White Balance, first press the Function Button (FUNC.) located to the left of the display monitor. Use the Select/Set Dial to scroll through the options. Press the Set button to set the desired item. Palm Beach State Film Department v1.0 revised 2/13/19 4
5 Where to set ISO o Press function button. Scroll to ISO. It will be highlighted orange when you re on it. o Press select button, then scroll through the values. Press the select button again to choose the value. o The native ISO (the ISO at which the camera manufacture recommends recording at) for the C300 is 850. We recommend leaving this set as is. 6 Where to set SHUTTER SPEED o To set the shutter speed, Press function button. Scroll to fraction number (this is the shutter speed). It will be highlighted orange when you re on it. o Press select button, then scroll through the values. Press the select button again to choose the value. o The standard shutter speed when recording at 24fps is 1/48. Where to set COLOR TEMPERATURE o Press function button. Scroll to ISO. It will be highlighted orange when you re on it. o Press select button, then scroll through the values. Choose a preset white balance setting, or select the K and scroll through available white balance. o To set Custom White Balance, scroll until you see the Custom White Balance symbol o Place a white reference in front of the camera, completely filling the frame, then press the Custom White Balance button, which is to the left of the Play/Pause button. 7 OTHER FUNCTIONS Where to set NEUTRAL DENSITY FILTERS o On the left side of the camera body, under ND FILTER, press the + to increase the ND or press the to decrease. How to turn on, FOCUS PEAKING and ZEBRAS o On the left side of the camera body, press the button labeled 2 with PEAKING above it. Press it to turn focus peaking on and press it again to disable peaking. o Below the peaking button, press the button labeled 3 with ZEBRAS above it. 8 How to view VIDEO PLAYBACK o On the left side of the camera body, there is a Power Switch that says Power with four options Lock, Camera, Off, and Media. Turn the Dial to MEDIA. o On the LCD Monitor, a thumbnail view will appear with all record clips on the media card. Use the Sel/Set dial to scroll through the clips. 9 BASIC FUNCTIONS Record button o On the rear of the camera, to the left of the Function Button, is a round black button. This is the record button. When the camera is recording a red light will turn on above it. Power on/off button o On the left side of the camera body, there is a Power Switch that says Power with four options Lock, Camera, Off, and Media. Turn the Dial to CAMERA to power on the C300.
