Plug one end of the cable into the CAT5 port on the right side of the tester, and the other end into the RJ-45 network cable terminator that came with the tester, then tap the green cable test button in the lower right corner, or press enter on the tester keypad. When the tester has completed testing, it will provide a map of the network cable. 22
23 The D4000 s cable tester accurately shows miss-wired cables, shorts, and open connections, allowing installers to quickly and easily diagnose network cable issues. POE SETUP The D4000 is capable of functioning as Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE) for PoE devices or as a PoE pass-through to carry power to a device from external PSE. D4000 as a Pass-Through When using external Power sourcing equipment to power an IP camera or other network device, the D4000 can act as a PoE pass-through. Simply connect the network cable from the PSE to the RJ-45 port labeled LAN / PSE IN. Next connect a network cable from the camera to the RJ-45 port labeled LAN / POE OUT and set the Power Break switch on the side of the tester to the On position. This allows the PSE to provide power to the network device. D4000 as the PSE The D4000 tester can also provide power to a network device using the internal battery as the power source. Connect the camera to the LAN / POE OUT RJ-45 port on the D4000 and press the PSE button on the top of the screen to activate the PoE out, the camera will draw power from the tester s internal battery unless the tester is plugged in AA 23
24 PoE Setup Use the PoE Setup Screen to define the D4000 power source behavior. Enable PoE when booting This setting turns on the PoE output while the D4000 tester is booting. This enables installers to boot a PoE network device while the tester is booting, saving time. PoE auto-shutdown Defines the amount of time that the tester will wait after PSE button has been activated and PSE deactivation if the tester does not detect a PoE device. Use this function to conserve power. 24
