This is made possible by innovative ALVIUM technology, a unique system-onchip (SoC) designed by Allied Vision. // High-performance sensors In order to meet any type of requirements, the Allied Vision 1 product line has been designed to accommodate more than 100 current and future CMOS sensors from leading manufacturers, such as Sony and ON Semiconductor. Unique SoC technology Our answer to that problem is the ALVIUM technology. ALVIUM is a unique systemon-chip (SoC) designed by Allied Vision. It combines a proprietary processor and a comprehensive image processing library perfectly tuned to each other. This groundbreaking innovation makes it possible to pack sophisticated image pre-processing features into a miniaturized, low-power, and low-cost processor. The power consumption of an FPGA is constant at its maximal level regardless of how many functions are actually activated in the camera. With ALVIUM technology, the processor only consumes as much as it needs for the activated functionalities. That means that for a simple imaging task requiring little processing, power consumption will be very low. Each camera series in the 1 product line contains a preselected set of functionalities that meet the requirements of a specific market segment. Those models with a basic feature set consume much less power than more advanced models. This is particularly relevant in the embedded world, especially for batterypowered mobile systems such as UAVs or robots. For these kinds of applications, ALVIUM smart power management optimizes the operating time of battery-powered devices. MIPI CSI-2 The Allied Vision 130 C and 140 C camera families with MIPI CSI-2 interfaces can easily be connected to the most popular embedded boards using Allied Vision s adapter board. Allied Vision s MIPI CSI-2 cameras support Linux for ARM 32-bit and 64-bit. They can be controlled via Video4Linux2 (V4L2). But their full functionality unfolds when using GenTL, the GenICam transport layer, via Allied Vision s Vimba software development kit (SDK). GenICam is a machine vision standard supported by all popular image-processing software libraries, such as OpenCV, MathWorks MATLAB, Common Vision Blox, and many more. GenICam is also supported by all OpenVX compliant libraries. USB 3.1 Gen 1 Integrating Allied Vision 130 U and 140 U family hardware is simple: just connect the camera to your board with a standard USB 3.1 Gen 1 cable. The USB cable is used for data transmission, software trigger and power supply. If needed, the camera can be connected to external system components, such as an external trigger, via the 7-pin JST connector. The 130 U and 140 U camera families can be operated on Linux x86/x64, Linux for ARM, and Windows. They are compatible with all GenICam compliant image-processing libraries from third-party vendors.
