4 Opening Box and Preparing Android Device 1. Remove the U250 from the box. 2. There are only 4 (four) connections to make: a. Connect the RJ45 (supplied LAN cable) to #6 on the back of the U250 and the other end of cable to your Wireless Router. b. Connect your RJ11 (supplied phone cord) to #8 on the back of the U250 and plug the other end into your existing Landline wall outlet or the back of your VoIP box. c. Optional - Connect an extension telephone to #9 on the back of the U250 (corded or cordless telephone). d. Connect the power adapter to #7 on the back of the U250 and to your AC wall outlet. For proper operation, connect the power adapter last. 4

5 Download the OneSmartConnect App for Android 1. Download the OneSmartConnect (search as one word) App from the Google Play Store. The App should look similar to the picture below: 5

6 Pairing your Android to U On the U250 Base Unit, LED (#2) TEL Line should be solid (Not flashing) before proceeding. 2. On your Android, turn on Wi-Fi. Make sure this is the same wireless network connected to the U Enter the OneSmartConnect App by pressing the OneSmartConnect App Icon. The following screen should appear: Wi-Fi Icon Must be ON Enter Name of Device 4. Press and release the PAIR Button (#3) on the U250 Base Unit. The Power LED (#1) on the base unit will flash. 5. On the OneSmartConnect App Screen, press Pair. 6. The Android display should say Register. 7. and then display the OneSmartConnect dial screen. 6

14 OneSmartConnectU250 Features Make a Call Using Your Android 1. Access your OneSmartConnect App on your Android. 2. The dialer will appear. You can manually enter the phone number or press the Contacts Icon on the bottom menu bar, to pick the desired contact. 3. Move the OSC/Tel Switch to send call by VOIP or landline 4. Press Green Phone icon to initiate the call. Press CALL after dialing the number or picking a contact from your list. 24 Troubleshooting Section Note: U250 works with the Android. This Owner Manual is for the Android ( 4.3 or later.) There are occasions when your Android may appear to freeze. This typically occurs when multiple activities are in process, which may cause your phone to respond slowly. If this occurs, we recommend you close all open applications. Your Android owner s manual has complete instructions regarding the closing of open apps. To Close the OneSmartConnect App on an Android: 1. Go to OSC Dial screen. 2. Select the MORE Menu icon. 3. Select Exit. 24

25 Troubleshooting Q & A What if I can t PAIR to the U250? Make sure your Wi-Fi is turn on. Perhaps you are not using the same Wi-Fi network on your device as the U250. The network is the same, but I still can t PAIR. Then it is time to reset the U250 and refresh the extensions. The U250 only supports 8 extensions if they are all used up. Press and hold the PAIR button on the U250 for 20 seconds to reset it. What if the APP says ready, but it doesn t make a call? Try Re-PAIRING your Android to the U250. Also try exiting and reopening the Application. Re-PAIR If you need to reconnect to the U250 you could RE-PAIR. Phone: Tap more, tap Re-PAIR, press pair at bottom of the screen. Prefix Q & A When does the Phone get the dialing prefixes? User gets to enter this data. Use the more button and select Settings How do I edit the dialing values? Phone: Enter the MORE tab, select settings. When does the OneSmartConnect App process the phone numbers? The mechanism will run in two cases, when you select the phone number from the contacts and when you select an incoming call or missed call from the history. What if I left the dialing prefixes blank? Android will not process numbers if the values are left blank. 25

27 Precautions Before you read anything else, please observe the following precautions. Warning! This product is not waterproof. To reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock or damage to the unit, DO NOT expose this unit to rain or moisture. Important safety instructions When using your U250 equipment, these basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electrical shock, and injury to persons: 1. Read and understand all instructions. 2. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the product. 3. Unplug this product from the wall outlet before cleaning. Use a dry cloth for cleaning, without liquid or aerosol cleaners. 4. Do not use this product near water. Do not uses near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, or near a swimming pool. 5. Do not place this product on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The unit may fall, causing serious damage to the unit. 6. Slots and openings in the cabinet and the back or bottom are provided for ventilation. To protect the product from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. This product should never be placed near or over a radiator or heat register. This product should not be placed in a built-in installation unless proper ventilation is provided. 7. This product should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the label. If you are not sure of the type of power supply to your home, consult your dealer or local power company. 8. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not place this product where the cord will be damaged by people or pets walking on it. 9. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords, as this can result in the risk of fire or electrical shock. 10. Never push objects of any kind into this product through cabinet slots, as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short out parts that could result in a risk of fire or electric shock. Never spill liquid of any kind on the product. 11. To reduce the risk of electric shock, do not disassemble this product. Take it to qualified service personnel when service or repair work is required. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Important Electrical Considerations Unplug all electrical appliances when you know an electrical storm is approaching. Lightning can pass through your household wiring and damage any device connected to it. This phone is no exception. Telephone Line Problems The FCC has granted the telephone company the right to disconnect service in the event that your phone causes problems on the telephone line. Also, the telephone company may make changes in facilities and services which may affect the operation of your unit. However, your telephone company must give sufficient notice in writing prior to such actions to allow you time for making necessary arrangements to continue uninterrupted service. If you are having trouble with your telephone service, you must first disconnect your phone to determine if it is the cause of your problem. If you determine that it is the cause, you must leave it disconnected until the trouble has been corrected. Telephone Communication Privacy Mobile and cordless telephones that may be used in conjunction with this product are radio devices. Communication between the unit and your mobile or cordless telephone is by means of radio waves which are broadcast over the open airways. Because of the inherent physical properties of radio waves, your communications can be received by radio receiving devices other than your own telephone unit. Consequently, any communications using your telephone may not be private. 28

29 Installation Considerations SELECTING A LOCATION Before choosing a location for your new U250, there are some important guidelines you should consider: The location should be close to both a phone jack and a continuous power outlet. (A continuous power outlet is an AC outlet which does not have a switch to interrupt its power.) Keep the unit away from sources of electrical noise such as motors or fluorescent lighting. The unit can be placed on a desk or tabletop or mounted on a standard telephone wall plate (an optional wall mount bracket is required). Telephone Line Outlets There are two types of phone outlets: Modular Jack Most phone equipment available now uses modular jacks. Phone cords are fitted with a molded plastic connector which plugs into this type of jack. If you do not have modular phone jacks, contact your local telephone company for information about their installation. Hardwired Jack Some equipment is wired directly to a phone jack, and these types of installations require a modular jack converter. This type of installation is not difficult; however, you should contact your telephone dealer or a telephone supply store for advice about the proper Adaptor or converter for your particular situation. Connecting the Telephone Cords Consider these safety guidelines before connecting the telephone cords: Caution: Never install U250 wiring during an electrical storm. Never touch un-insulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has been disconnected. Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines. Applying Power to the unit This phone requires an AC outlet without a switch to interrupt power, and the included AC Adaptor. 29

30 Note: Place the power cord so that it does not create a tripping hazard or where it could become frayed and create a fire or other electrical hazards.
