Built on HTML5 technology, UCedge client brings the power of unified communications to users on Toshiba Strata CIX, IPedge and VIPedge providing presence, instant messaging, follow-me, and callback over cellular, and updated Call Manager for Windows! All this with one license! UCedge Client Toshiba now offers our latest UC solution for VIPedge, IPedge and IPedge Application Server for the Strata CIX system users. The UCedge Client is a productivity tool that is integrated with the VIPedge and IPedge business telephone solution. Benefits Pairing Initiate dialing on your desk phone from your tablet or smartphone. Softphone Make and receive calls on your Android device. Call Thru/Call Back Make calls from your cell phone using your Business Caller ID and make yourself and your business easier to reach by only giving out one number. Follow Me Receive calls when you are away from your desk at the same extension and get things done sooner. Call Thru or Call Back Make International Calls from your cell phone at land line rates and save money. Call Back Be available on your business number with a local SIM or phone when traveling internationally and save money on cellular roaming rates. Presence See the status of your VIPedge/IPedge colleagues before you call them and save time. IM and Group IM Instant Message your VIPedge/IPedge/CIX colleagues who are on the phone or busy and get more done. 2 Features Features Contacts with Avatars UCedge Client gets its contact list from the VIPedge/IPedge system so you don t have to create contacts for fellow VIPedge/IPedge users. It also lets user s upload avatars / images of themselves making it easier to find people quickly. Presence with Detail Information Presence enables you to see the status of other users before you begin communication. General presence information includes Available, Busy, and Away. Detail information includes the user specified location and/ or Instant Messaging (IM) status. Instant Message (IM) / Group Instant Message (GIM) You may send or receive an instant message (shown right) to or from another user and may have multiple sessions at a time. It is also possible to broadcast the messages to multiple people. In addition, IM sessions may be held among multiple users who are invited by the coordinator. History Instant Messaging and calling history is stored in the device so that it may be reviewed later. History records may be filtered by the user so that it may be found easily. HTML5 allows support for cloud synchronization for data storage of call and IM history. Visual Voice Mail Retrieve voice mail messages from VIPedge/IPedge Messaging. The list of voice mails are shown with the caller information and time and the user may play back the message. The user may also call back the person who leaves the voice mail when the Caller ID from the PSTN is available. Mobility Features UCedge Client allows subscribers to use their cell phone as an extension on their VIPedge/IPedge while making and receiving calls over the cellular network. Follow Me VIPedge/IPedge provides Follow Me service; a call to an extension may be routed to a user s cell phone. 2 of 8 New UCedge for Android and iphone Handsets, and Tablets, and Updated Call Manager for Windows!

3 Features Call Back The UCedge Client allows the user to dial a contact using the cell phone. When the user is located away from the office and needs to pay a high call charge (out of service plan area/roaming/international), the Call Back option is appropriate. The Call Back option calls the user s cell phone first and then calls the destination. This way, the VIPedge/IPedge system takes all the call charges for the local, long distance, and international calls to user's cell phone and the destination while the user is only responsible for the data usage. The called party (destination) will see the user s DID number of instead of the user s cell phone number. Call Through The UCedge Client provides another, more straight forward, way to make a call. The user may make a call from a contact, and the call is made to the destination through VIPedge/IPedge system. In this option, you may have to pay for the call to the VIPedge/IPedge system and data usage while local, long distance, or international fees are charged to VIPedge/IPedge system. This feature requires the auto attendant service for the DID number to be assigned to Voic . The destination user will see the outbound user s DID number, and the user may transfer the call or record the conversation. Multiple Devices for Single User The system allows the user to login from UCedge Client and Call Manager for Windows at the same time so that the UC capabilities are provided regardless of the user s location. The user can login from up to three devices simultaneously. Softphone Softphone (Softphone mode) allows the user make and receive calls on their tablet and smartphone. Transfer, conference and hold are the currently supported call control functions. Available only for Android devices at this time. Pairing Pairing (PBXPhone mode) allows the user to initiate dialing on their IPT and DKT desk phones from their tablet or smartphone. Transfer, conference and hold call control functions are also available. New UCedge for Android and iphone Handsets, and Tablets, and Updated Call Manager for Windows! 3 of 8

4 Call Manager for Windows Call Manager for Windows Call Manager for Windows version includes: Federation Federation can add the networking capability to Call Manager without using Unifier on a MAS. List all users on the IPedge/CIX App Server network in the contact list. Subscribe any user on the network to see the presence and instant messaging. See the status of the phone in the same node and another node across the network. Client Account Creation A Call Manager account can be automatically created when an extension is created including the following methods. Single extension creation Active Directory Sync Import from CSV file Quote A new version of Quote is in development. For configurations requiring Networked locations and/or Contact Center Solutions please contact the Sales Application Desk for assistance. Installation Call Manager for Windows Call Manager for Windows version can be downloaded from EMPA via the download icon on the home page, and call manager server update. The UCedge Application installation procedures are based on the assumption that the user already has an account set up by the System Administrator. UCedge Client UCedge client operation requires that the user s device has a cellular data plan and/or Wi-Fi access. 4 of 8 New UCedge for Android and iphone Handsets, and Tablets, and Updated Call Manager for Windows!

5 Installation Application Installation The UCedge app requires internet access to the host VIPedge/IPedge system. Note Mobile devices require a data plan with an option to enable Wi-Fi access for locations with poor cell network service. The UCedge client application may be downloaded from Google Play or the itunes Apple App Store. For Android: For iphone; Android Users: 1. From the device, choose Google Play. 2. Search for UCedge in Google Play then tap install. iphone Users: 1. From the itunes App store, search for UCedge. 2. Download the App. 3. Sync your iphone with itunes on your computer. Login To configure the UCedge application on your phone, please obtain the following information from your System Administrator: Your user Name for UCedge Initial login password Domain Name (Example: ax vipedge/ipedge.com) Android tablet users: SoftPhone Extension Number SoftPhone Password Voic DID number Voic Pilot DN When you have obtained this information, follow the steps outlined below: 1. Launch the UCedge client. New UCedge for Android and iphone Handsets, and Tablets, and Updated Call Manager for Windows! 5 of 8

6 Installation 2. The main login screen displays (shown below). 3. Enter your password. 4. Android tablet users tap the Advanced Setup pull-down. Cell phone users go to the Profile setup. 7 System Requirements System Requirements UCedge Client Requirements The following devices have been tested using Android 4.x or ios 7.x. User experience may vary according to carrier and handset model. Smartphones Tablets Apple iphone 4s Apple ipad Apple iphone 5/5s Apple ipad Mini Google Nexus 5 Toshiba Excite 10 Samsung Galaxy S2 Toshiba Excite Pro Samsung Galaxy S4 Toshiba Excite Pure Samsung Galaxy S5 Samsung Galaxy Nexus Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Note This application uses the cell phone data plan, voice minutes, and local/long distance/international calling fees. Known Issues 1. The UCedge client and the Call Manager 8.2.x client are not compatible with the Toshiba ACD system. ACD customers should use Call Manager 8.0.x. UCedge presence and instant messaging, do not function with the ACD system while using Call Manager 8.0. The UCedge and Call Manager 8.2.x client can operate with the IPedge system NetServer. Call Manager 8.0 client can operate with the ACD system NetServer. Both can run, independently at the same time. However, Call Manager 8.0 clients can not instant message with UCedge and Call Manager 8.2.x clients. 2. When using the softphone, the extension should not have phantom DN, multiple line appearances, CO, GCO, or Pooled Line keys. 3. When UCedge is networked between IPedge and VIPedge, the user on IPedge must initiate the subscription to start using the IM/presence feature using the Subscribing external contact from the menu. 4. Bluetooth headset button cannot be used for answering/disconnecting the phone. 5. A user can login to up to three devices at the same time. Login from a fourth device will forcibly logout another device. 6. Presence is updated on the user s subscriber s devices. While using multiple devices presence is only updated on the active device. 7. Search Contact feature in VIPedge is limited to the user ID while IPedge allows to search User ID, User Name, and extension. 8. Call Manager Windows does not support History consolidation among multiple devices, and it shows only IM and call history made on the Windows PC. Other devices do not show IM or Call made on the Windows PC. New UCedge for Android and iphone Handsets, and Tablets, and Updated Call Manager for Windows! 7 of 8

8 License License Licenses for UCedge Client or Call Manager for Windows is included with each VIPedge/IPedge user. Requires a I-CM-1 license to use UCedge client, and the optional I-CM-V1 license is required for the softphone solution. If the same user logs in from both UCedge Client and Call Manager for Windows, only one license is required. Software IPedge systems require Release and later software. VIPedge systems require Release or later software. Mobile devices require a data plan with an option to enable Wi-Fi access for locations with poor cell network service. UCedge Client may be downloaded from Google Play or the itunes App Store. The version should be version or later.
