Cause 2

2 Screen and Display A small gap between the front and rear housing is required to allow space for the housing to expand and contract when subjected to changes in temperature. This is normal and does not indicate that your tablet is faulty. All Huawei tablets are manufactured according to stringent quality control standards and are safe to use. Solutions Insert four sheets of A4 paper into the gap. If the paper fits into the gap, contact your nearest Huawei service for assistance. If you suspect that your tablet may be damaged, contact your nearest Huawei service center for assistance. Note The industry standard for the gap between the front and rear housing is 0.4 mm. Huawei tablets are designed to have a gap of less than 0.35 mm. 2.2 Why does the rear housing bend when I apply pressure? Cause For safety reasons, there is small gap between the battery and the rear housing. This is normal and does not indicate that your tablet is faulty. Solutions If the rear housing becomes loose, contact your nearest Huawei service center for assistance. 2.3 Why do my power button/volume buttons appear uneven or tilted? Cause As volume and power keys are frequently used, they cannot be guaranteed to remain completely level. Repeatedly pressing the keys on one side, rather than in the center, can result in the volume or power keys becoming uneven over time. This should not affect the function of your tablet. Suggestion If the keys are no longer functional, contact the nearest Huawei service center for assistance. 2.4 What is the rear camera lens coating made of? The lens on the rear camera is covered by a layer of acrylic glass. The glass is shatter resistant, but not shatterproof. Thus, take care not to damage the lens. Solutions 3

2 Screen and Display Use a protective case to protect your tablet against bumps and scratches. Do not allow your tablet to come into contact with sharp objects (such as keys), as these may damage the lens coating. In the event of any accidental damage, contact your nearest Huawei service center to purchase a replacement lens cover. 2.5 How can I prevent the paint on my tablet from getting scratched? Cause Online answer Scratched surfaces or damaged paint on the rear cover or card tray of the tablet can result from: Connecting or disconnecting external accessories, such as headsets or USB charging cables. Contact with physical objects such as desks or tables. Repeated removal and insertion of the SIM card tray. Damage to the outside cover or paint occurs normally over time. Hotline answer For new tablets: If the tablet is brand new out-of-the-box and there is damage to the external cover or paint, please contact the seller. For used tablets: While Huawei has high standards for the durability and quality of paint and external surfaces, damage may still occur as a result of: Small stress effects, such as: Contact with desks and tables, or objects in pockets or bags, such as wallets or purses. Connecting or disconnecting external accessories, such as headsets or USB charging cables. Repeated removal and insertion of the SIM card tray. Accidental contact between the tablet's side buttons and button holes. Large stress effects such as: Contact with hard objects such as keys, the ground, or the edges of tables and desks. Falling and striking against hard surfaces. Severe bending due to external force. Damage to the outside cover or paint of a tablet occurs normally over time, and may be more evident for models with glossy or deep-colored paint. Suggestions We suggest using a protective case that matches your Huawei tablet. 4

2 Screen and Display 2.6 Why is the camera off-center? Huawei tablet cameras are assembled with strict control standards (less than 0.35 mm, while the industrial average is 0.4 mm). The camera functions are not affected even if the camera looks off-center. Please rest assured. If the camera functions are affected, back up important data and take your tablet with the receipt to an authorized Huawei service center for repair. 2.7 Why is the SIM card slot loose? A small gap between the SIM card slot and your tablet's housing is normal. However, if the SIM card slot is loose and doesn't stay in place, contact your nearest Huawei service center for assistance. Note for hotline staff: All Huawei tablets are tested to ensure that the gap is no more than 0.25 mm. This is smaller than the industry standard of 0.3 mm. 2.8 Is the glass on the rear camera lens shatterproof? The glass is shatter resistant, but not shatterproof. Thus, take care not to damage the lens. Solutions Use a protective case to protect your tablet against bumps and scratches. Do not allow your tablet to come into contact with sharp objects (such as keys), as these may damage the lens coating. In the event of any accidental damage, contact your nearest Huawei service center to purchase a replacement lens cover. 2.9 Can I use earphones with a USB Type-C connector? No. Your tablet only supports earphones with a 3.5 mm jack Why does the volume down button respond when I press the volume up button? Cause You pressed too hard on the volume up button, or you pressed in the middle of the volume up and volume down buttons. Solution 5

2 Screen and Display Avoid pressing too hard on the volume up or down buttons, and avoid touching the middle of the button. If the issue persists, contact your nearest Huawei service center for assistance Why are there bezels around the edges of the screen? Standard response This is a design feature. The bezels have been designed to give the tablet a seamless look when the screen is turned off. Do not respond to complaints posted on forums or other websites. Response for online retailers Thank you for your feedback. We appreciate your comments and will refer them to our product design team What can I do if my screen is darker than screens on other tablets, even when the brightness is set to maximum? If the screen brightness is set to maximum and you cannot see the screen clearly, contact your nearest Huawei service center for assistance Why does the screen look uneven? The ambient light sensor and LED indicator feature a special coating that may produce different visual effects when viewed from certain angles. This is normal and does not indicate that the screen is faulty. The screen features a special coating and may appear slightly uneven when viewed from certain angles or under certain lighting conditions. This is normal and does not indicate that the screen is faulty Why are there horizontal lines across the screen? Cause These horizontal lines are produced by your tablet's digitizer, which is part of the touchscreen. It is possible to generate a static charge when you clean the screen, remove the screen protector, or swipe the screen quickly, which causes horizontal lines to appear on the screen. This is normal and does not indicate that your tablet is faulty. Solutions Switch the screen off before cleaning it or removing the screen protector. For best results, use an official Huawei screen protector designed for your tablet. 6

2 Screen and Display 2.15 Why does the status indicator not display the color I set in an app (such as WhatsApp)? Problem: The status indicator for message notifications does not appear in the color you set in a certain app such as WhatsApp. Cause: Owing to differences in the way that mobile tablet screens transmit light, the colors may be displayed a little bit differently. This does not indicate a quality issue with your tablet There will be water ripples when I press the screen There will be water ripples when you press the screen, screen edge is more obvious. All LCD screens will have water ripples, this is because the liquid crystal distribution has changed when you press the screen. HUAWEI tablet using the best design, water ripple is very small, this does not affect the use of tablet. Advise:Suggest that you use the normal strength, water ripples will not appear, and will not affect your reading and playing games. 7

3 System and Settings 3 System and Settings About This Chapter 3.1 After restarting my tablet, why does it display the default Google input method on the unlock screen? 3.1 After restarting my tablet, why does it display the default Google input method on the unlock screen? Problem If the user has configured a third-party input method but secure input is disabled, the lock screen will display the default Google input method after a restart. Cause Your tablet uses file-level encryption to protect your personal data. If you have installed a third-party input method that does not support file-level encryption, it will not load on the lock screen after you restart your tablet. If you have disabled secure input, your tablet will automatically load the Google input method. 8

6 Internet and Data Sharing 6 Internet and Data Sharing About This Chapter 6.1 Can I connect my tablet to an Apple device over Bluetooth? 6.1 Can I connect my tablet to an Apple device over Bluetooth? You can connect your tablet to an Apple mouse or Bluetooth headset. You cannot use Bluetooth to send files to an iphone or an ipad. However, you can import your iphone or an ipad contacts to a Huawei device over Bluetooth using the Import/Export feature in Contacts. You can also use Bluetooth to share your iphone or an ipad's portable hotspot with Android devices. Enable the portable hotspot on your iphone or an ipad, and then pair the two devices over Bluetooth. iphones or an ipads only support Bluetooth tethering and not Bluetooth access, so you can only share the network connection of an iphone or an ipad to an Android device, but cannot share the network connection of an Android device to an iphone or an ipad. You can use Bluetooth to share an Android portable hotspot with other Apple devices that do not contain a SIM card (such as a MacBook or ipod). 11

7 Backup, Restore and Update 7 Backup, Restore and Update About This Chapter 7.1 What can I do if I cannot connect my tablet to a computer? 7.2 How do I connect my tablet to an imac or MacBook? 7.3 Why can't I connect my tablet to another device using an OTG cable? 7.1 What can I do if I cannot connect my tablet to a computer? Check whether your tablet can be charged using a USB cable. If not, the USB cable is damaged. Use the original data cable and try again. Use another USB port or computer and connect again. Check whether the computer or USB port is faulty. If your tablet's drive can be displayed after being connected to the computer, but no files can be found in the drive or data cannot be copied between your tablet and computer, check whether the Charge onlymessage is displayed under Use USB forin the notification panel. If so, touch Device file manager (MTP). On the computer, double-click the drive with your tablet model on it. Third-party tablet assistants may be incompatible with Android. It is recommended that you install Huawei's tablet assistant HiSuite to connect your tablet to the computer for file and application management. On your computer, click Hisuite in the list of devices with removable storage, and then double-click Hisuitedownload to download and install HiSuite. Make sure you are using the latest version of HiSuite. After you install it, you can check for updates. If you cannot connect your tablet to the computer using a third-party tablet assistant, perform the following: Check whether you have enabled developer mode on your tablet. Go to SettingsAbout tablet, touch Build number seven times in rapid succession to enable developer mode. Then, go to Developer options and touch USB debugging and Allow ADB debugging in charge only mode. If USB debugging is enabled, remove the data cable and plug it in again. If you still cannot connect your tablet to the computer, re-enable USB debugging. If the problem persists, this means the third-party tablet assistant is incompatible with Android 7.0. In this case, use HiSuite to connect your tablet to the computer. Some 12

7 Backup, Restore and Update third-party tablet assistants require you to install the relevant applications on your tablet and computer before connecting them. If the computer tells you that the driver installation fails or your tablet's drive is empty after you connect your tablet to the computer, manually install the driver and then try again. If you can view photos on your tablet but cannot on your computer, on your tablet, go tosettings > Apps > More > Show system processes, findmedia Storagein the list, touchstorage > Clear data, and then restart your tablet. If the problem persists, take your tablet to a Huawei authorized service center for assistance. 7.2 How do I connect my tablet to an imac or MacBook? Scenario 1: Using your tablet to establish a connection Connect your tablet to your computer. Drag down the Use USB for and select Device file manager(mtp). Scenario 1: Using your computer to establish a connection Connect your tablet to your computer and double click the disk drive in the popup dialog box. Double click androidfiletransfer.dmg to install Android File Transfer. Drag the android file transfer icon (shown below) to the applications directory. Double click the android file transfer icon to browse the files and folders on your tablet. To transfer files to or from your computer, drag the desired files to the destination folder. 13

7 Backup, Restore and Update 7.3 Why can't I connect my tablet to another device using an OTG cable? Solutions Check whether the devices have a micro USB or a USB Type-C port. If both devices feature a micro USB port and you are using a micro USB to micro USB cable, check that the cable is inserted correctly. The connector labeled 'host' should be inserted into the host device (the host device is the device that provides a charging current). If you are using an OTG cable, insert the micro USB connector into the host device. If the host device does not provide a charging current, this indicates that it does not support OTG. If your tablet has a USB Type-C port, purchase a Huawei USB Type-C to micro USB adapter, and then connect the adapter to the micro USB connector on the cable. When you use an OTG cable to connect your tablet to a USB storage device, your tablet will provide power to the device. Some USB storage devices that have a high power rating (such as portable hard drives or tablets) may not function properly. Insert the cable into another device. If there is still no response, use another cable. If the issue persists, contact your nearest Huawei service center for assistance. 14

8 Accessories 8 Accessories About This Chapter 8.1 Why is the new headset which came with my new tablet stained/dirty? 8.1 Why is the new headset which came with my new tablet stained/dirty? Cause This is due to the movement during transport causing friction between the accessories and the gift box. Use some tissues to wipe them clean. This will not affect the normal function of the headset. Recommendations If you believe your tablet's function is affected, Huawei can send you a new accessory for free. Check whether the headset or the data cable is dirty. After confirming, please provide the accessory you require and your contact details including your postal address. (This will be escalated through the TCRMS to the R&D personnel for handling.) 15

9 Application Management 9 Application Management About This Chapter 9.1 Why is there no select all option in app lock? 9.2 Why can I still view files on my tablet after I lock Gallery and Files? 9.3 Why can't I receive messages in my social networking app? 9.1 Why is there no select all option in app lock? There is no select all option in the app lock settings to prevent users from locking all of their apps by accident. Users should enable app lock individually for apps they want to protect. 9.2 Why can I still view files on my tablet after I lock Gallery and Files? Problem When Gallery or Files are locked, users can still access their files using other apps on their tablet. Cause App lock only prevents other users from opening an app, but does not prevent them from accessing files stored on your tablet. Solutions Use the Safe feature in Files to encrypt sensitive files on your tablet. Go to Tablet Manager and touch App lock. The first time you use this feature, you must configure a 4-digit PIN and a password. Turn on the switch next to the apps that you want to encrypt. You will need to enter the PIN each time you open an encrypted app. 16

9 Application Management 9.3 Why can't I receive messages in my social networking app? Please confirm the following items (here Facebook is used as an example): 1. Make sure the notifications function is enabled. Open Facebook, touch App Settings > Notifications, and turn on the related sound notification switches. 17

9 Application Management On your phone, touch Settings > Notification & status bar > Notifications management > Facebook and turn on Allow notifications. 2. Make sure your phone stays connected to the Internet in sleep mode. Go to Settings > Wi-Fi > Configure, touch Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep, and select Always. 18

9 Application Management Go to Settings > More > Mobile network and turn on the Mobile data always on switch. This does not apply to Wi-Fi only tablets. 19

9 Application Management 3. Make sure Facebook keeps running in the background when the screen is locked. Go to Settings > Battery > Close apps after screen lock and turn off the Facebook switch. 20

9 Application Management 4. Make sure Facebook is allowed to ignore battery optimizations. Go to Settings > Apps > Settings > Special access > Ignore battery optimizations > Facebook and set Facebook to Allow. 5. Make sure power saving mode is disabled. Go to Settings > Battery and turn off the Power saving mode and Ultra switches. 21

9 Application Management 6. Make sure Facebook can connect to the Internet. Go to Phone Manager > Mobile data > Networked apps, find Facebook, and select Mobile data and Wi-Fi next to it. 7. Make sure Facebook is locked so that it will not be closed and can still receive messages even when you touch the trash can icon to close all the recently used apps. 22

9 Application Management 8. Make sure Facebook stays running even when the system prompts you to close it because power consumption is too high. Go to Settings > Apps > Facebook > Battery and disable Power-intensive prompt. 9. Check whether the messages are delayed. When power saving mode is enabled, your phone will enter deep sleep mode to save battery power after the screen has been turned off for a while. In deep sleep mode, you will not receive messages from third-party apps. However, your phone will wake up every 10 minutes to receive new messages, therefore the messages may be delayed. 10. Make sure you are not logged in to Facebook on a computer. 11. If there are notification sounds but no pop-up notification boxes, the magazine unlock feature may be disabled on your phone. To enable it: a. Go to Themes and select a theme. b. Go to Settings > Screen lock & passwords > Screen lock style, select Magazine unlock, and touch APPLY to apply it If the problem persists, Facebook may have been closed in the background. Check whether a third-party phone manager has been installed on your phone. If so, uninstall it or set Facebook to be trusted in the third-party phone manager. 23

Connect your tablet to a Windows computer. Press Win+R on your keyboard, type cmd, and then press Enter or click OK. Type adb shell and press Enter. 2. Once the adb environment has been installed, run the adb shell command. If you see the # symbol in the command prompt, your tablet has been rooted. If you see the $ symbol in the command prompt, your tablet has not been rooted. Contact your nearest Huawei service center if you require further assistance Is it normal for my tablet to heat up during use? It is normal for your tablet to heat up during use. Your tablet's temperature may vary depending on the apps you use, the ambient temperature, and other factors. At room temperature, your tablet's temperature should not exceed 45 C. However, it may exceed this temperature if you use the camera, make video calls, or play resource-intensive games for prolonged periods. Using your tablet while it is charging also increases the chance of overheating. Your tablet has a built-in safety feature which automatically switches off your tablet when it gets too hot. All Huawei have passed stringent safety tests and are safe to use. 24
