3 Introduction Thank you for using eye3 Smart Communications Service. This User Manual provides an introduction and a preliminary guide to eye3 Smart Communications Service. 4 Connect to Wi-Fi* 1 If you want to use the video call/voice call or send/receive SMS functions offered by eye3 Smart Communications Service, you need to connect your eye3 device to the Wi-Fi signal provided by the dedicated router in your home. Please follow the steps below: 2 eye3 device Router Drag down the status bar to open the notifications panel. Wi-Fi button in grey colour means Wi-Fi status is off. 3 Move the eye3 device closer to the eye3 Smart Communications Service router. 4 Turn on Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi button will change to blue/green colour (depends on different eye3 device models). Ensure that the eye3 device is connected to the dedicated router s Wi-Fi signal by pressing the Wi-Fi button for a while to open the Settings page (The router s Wi-Fi provision is named Default by default. To change the name of Wi-Fi provision, please call hotline 109). * The Wi-Fi service provided by eye3 Smart Communications Service Plan can only be used in the installation address via eye3 device. The use of Wi-Fi service outside the installation address is not included. 4

6 Add a Google account Add a Google account before downloading apps from Play Store. 1 2 Press Select. 3 4 Tap Accounts > Add account > Google. If you have a Google account, simply sign in with your existing and password, then you can sign in to Google Play. If you don t have a Google account, tap create a new account. 6

7 Add a Google account 5 6 When you are creating a new Google account, you are required to enter your personal information, such as your name, username and password. 7 Read and Agree Google s Terms of Service and Privacy Policy to complete the account setting procedure. 8 You can access everything Google with your Google Account, such as apps, music, games and more. You may set up your payment info (if necessary). 7

8 Call* Well-equipped with audio and video calls function, enabling you to keep in touch with families and friends. 1 2 Press on Home screen. Enter telephone number. 3 4 Press Video call or Voice call. Press End call to terminate the conversation. *Call function can be used within the eye3 Smart Communication Service installation address whilst Wi-Fi connection with the designated broadband router can be established. Customer can receive or make free local video calls from/to eye3 Smart Communications Service/eye Home Tablet Communication Package/eye Home Smartphone Package/eye2 Communication Package/eye Multimedia Service ( eye Series )/0060 everywhere/eligible mobile service subscribers of CSL Mobile Limited ( 香港移動通訊有限公司 ) (video call is applicable to designated network and mobile phone/device which support video call) during the Commitment Period. Eligible mobile service subscribers of CSL Mobile Limited ( 香港移動通訊有限公司 ) can also receive or make free local video calls from/to eye Series customers (until further notice). In addition, the customer can receive/make local video calls from/to other mobile network(s) when there is an interconnection facility established with the relevant 3G mobile service operator(s) as listed at at a service charge HK$2 per minute per video call received/made. Usage time is based on one minute per unit and will be rounded up to the nearest minute. For the applicable handsets/ devices, please call the Hotline on

10 eye Menu You may browse through different types of content according to your preference in Menu. 1 2 Press eye3 Smart Communications Service has preloaded over 100 educational and infotainment apps, you may browse through different types of content according to your preference. 10

11 Update/Install eye Apps eye3 Smart Communications Service provides new apps and keeps updating the existing apps on eye periodically Press. Select Updates/Installed, press Update to download the latest version of Apps. 4 Select Not Installed, press Download and Install to get the new Apps. Read the app s requirements. If accept, press Install to complete the app installation. 11

12 Troubleshooting Below are some common problems and their possible causes and remedies. If a problem persists, please report the fault to the PCCW repair hotline on 109 and do not attempt to effect repair yourself. Problem About call function Call function is not available No audio or noisy when making a call About Wi-Fi signal Error - Authentication occurred in Wi-Fi connection Error - Stopped occurred in Wi-Fi connection Error - Not in range occurred in Wi-Fi connection The name of the Wi-Fi signal provided by your home s dedicated router is same as another Wi-Fi signal s name Others eye Apps is not available after changing the eye service number Blank screen appears when using app Possible causes/remedies Check if the eye3 device is connected to the Wi-Fi signal provided by your home s dedicated router* Turn off power saving mode Place the eye3 device closer to the dedicated router Check if the battery is low Place the eye3 device away from other electronic devices Input the password of the connected Wi-Fi signal again Check if the eye3 device is connected to the Wi-Fi signal provided by your home s dedicated router* Check if the eye3 device is connected to the Wi-Fi signal provided by your home s dedicated router* Place the eye3 device closer to the dedicated router and re-connect to Wi-Fi signal* Call PCCW s repair hotline on 109 to change the name of the Wi-Fi signal provided by your home s dedicated router Sign into the eye3 Smart Communications Service account again (press Settings and eye3 Smart Communications Service Account. Remove the existing account, press Add account and follow the instructions to sign into the account again) Close the app *For Wi-Fi connection steps, please refer to P.4. 12

13 Warranty Service for eye3 Device 1. Samsung Electronics H.K. Co., Ltd. ( Samsung ) will provide warranty service to the Customer s Samsung GALAXY Tab / Samsung GALAXY Tab 3 7 / Samsung GALAXY Tab / Samsung GALAXY Tab4 (7 ) Wi-Fi / Samsung GALAXY Tab4 (10.1 ) Wi-Fi / Samsung Galaxy Tab A (8 ) Wi-Fi / Samsung Galaxy Tab A (9.7 ) Wi-Fi / Samsung Galaxy Tab A6 (10.1 ) Wi-Fi (including the device ( Samsung Tablet ), battery and AC-DC power adaptor (together, Samsung Device )) provided under the eye3 Smart Communications Service. Samsung will provide free warranty service to the parts of the Samsung Device for the following specified period from the commencement date of the Customer s eye3 Smart Communications Service plan ( Warranty Period ), with production of a valid job completion form: (a) 12-month Warranty Period for the Samsung Tablet and AC-DC power adaptor; and (b) 12-month Warranty Period for the battery (applicable to customers who install service from 1 April 2015 on wards). 6-month Warranty Period for the battery (applicable to customers who install service before 1 April 2015). For details of warranty information on your Samsung Device, please visit 2. LG Electronics HK Limited ( LG ) will provide warranty service to the Customer s LG G Pad 7.0 (including the device ( LG Tablet ), power adaptor, USB data cable and battery (together, LG Device )) provided under the eye3 Smart Communications Service. LG will provide free warranty service to the parts of the LG Device for the following specified period from the commencement date of the Customer s eye3 Smart Communications Service plan ( Warranty Period ), with production of a valid job completion form: (a) 18-month Warranty Period for the LG Device; and (b) 6-month Warranty Period for the power adaptor, USB data cable and battery. 3. Lenovo (Hong Kong) Limited ( Lenovo ) will provide the warranty service to the Customer s Lenovo YOGA Tab3 8 / Lenovo YOGA Tab3 10 (including device ( Lenovo tablet ), battery and power adapter) (together, Lenovo Device )) provided under the eye3 Smart Communications Service. Lenovo will provide free warranty service to the parts of the Lenovo Device for the following specified period from the commencement date of the eye3 Smart Communications Service plan ( Warranty Period ) with production of a valid job completion note: Tablet, battery and power adapter: 12-month Warranty Period 13

Hong Kong Telecommunications (HKT) Limited ( HKT ) is not the manufacturer of the Samsung Device or the LG Device or the Lenovo Device (together, Devices ). To the extent permitted by law, HKT expressly disclaims and excludes all liabilities, representations and warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, in relation to the Devices, including but not limited to any product liability, safety, quality, fitness for purpose or suitability of the Devices. To the extent permitted by law, HKT and its affiliates shall not be liable in any way and shall accept no liability nor responsibility for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damages suffered or incurred in connection with the use of any parts of the Devices, and the Customer acknowledges and agrees to irrevocably and unconditionally waive all claims whatsoever against HKT and any of its affiliates and not to hold HKT and any of its affiliates liable for any such loss and damages in connection with the Devices in any way, either in contract, tort (including negligence), under any statute or otherwise.
