2 Training locations Useful information This brochure gives a complete overview of all Polteq courses available as public courses in Leuven. Polteq also provides in-house courses on request. An attractive alternative when you have five or more delegates. On a regular basis, Polteq provides customized courses, fully aligned to your specific organization. All Polteq courses can be given in either English or Dutch. All Polteq trainers are ISTQB certified and accredited. In addition, Polteq is accredited by ISTQB, isqi and IREB as a training provider and therefore is qualified to arrange the examination following the courses. Polteq trainers combine their role as teacher with projects in the field. In this way, they keep their practical experience and skills up to date. At the end of the course, the participants receive a personal certificate. Practical information about the examinations Please bring along your passport or valid proof of identity to each examination. If there are any additional requirements concerning the examinations we will inform you as soon as possible. ISTQB The ISTQB Foundation course is completed by an English multiple choice examination on the final course day. The ISTQB Advanced examinations (multi choice) are in English and are conducted by an ISTQB recognized examination institute. Sufficient time for study is scheduled between the course and the examination day. The ISEB or ISTQB Foundation certificate and 18 months practical testing experience are prerequisites for attending one of the ISTQB advanced level examinations. After the ISTQB Agile Tester Extension course, the participants receive a voucher for an online examination. The ISTQB Foundation Level Certification is a pre-requisite for taking the ISTQB Agile Tester Extension examination. TMap The TMap courses concludes with the TMap multiple-choice examinations. In order to pass the examination, self-study is also necessary. Knowledge at the level of the TMap Next Test Engineer module is recommended for the TMap Next Test Manager examination. isqi The isqi Certified Agile Essentials course is concluded on the final day with an English multiple choice exam. On the fifth day of the isqi Certified Agile Tester (CAT) course, the participants will take an examination. This examination is divided into three parts: a practical examination, a theoretical examination consisting of open questions including some scenario-based questions and an assessment of soft skills during the four days of training focused on collaboration and sharing knowledge. The examination is conducted by isqi, an internationally recognized examination institute. After the isqi Certified Agile Business Analysis (CABA) course, the participants receive a voucher for an online examination. The multiple choice isqi CMAP examinations are in English. The isqi CMAP Mobile App Testing course concludes with the examina tion, conducted by isqi. The isqi CMAP Mobile Test Automation participants will receive a voucher for an online examination. The main objective is to prepare participants for passing the multiple-choice ISTQB Foundation examination. The key topics are: the added value of testing to the business, its relationship to the development process and the fundamentals of a structured testing process. In addition to the theory, practice examination questions are included in the course. The course will conclude with the ISTQB Foundation examination. The ISTQB Certificate Foundation Level (CTFL) is intended for professionals who want to gain practical knowledge of the fundamental concepts of software testing. This includes people such as test designers, test analysts, test engineers, test consultants, test managers, user acceptance testers and IT professionals. 7 ISTQB Certification Continued ISTQB Advanced Advanced level of ISTQB certification is designed for experienced testers who want to expand and improve their knowledge in the given field. Certification consists of three different modules which all finish up with an (multi choice) exam. 1. ISTQB Advanced Level Test Manager (five days) This training prepares the participants to obtain the ISTQB Advanced Test Manager certificate. After following the training participants will be able to set up a test project using proper risk estimations and will know how to lead the project in line with customer s policies and strategy. They will be able to create a team to successfully execute test projects within a given framework and will manage to communicate properly with all stakeholders. Participants will also gain full insight of the test manager s leading role within test process improvement on all levels. 2. ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst (4 days) This training prepares the participants to obtain the ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst certificate. After following the training participants will be able to design and implement functional (black box) tests aligned with existing development approach and risk analyses results. ISTQB Advanced Level Test Analyst training focuses on functionality, usability and user-friendliness. 3. ISTQB Advanced Level Technical Test Analyst (3 days) This training prepares the participants to obtain the ISTQB Advanced Level Technical Test Analyst certificate. After following the training participants will be able to design and implement structural (white box) tests which emphasize the non-functional quality attributes such as performance, security, and maintainability. Participants also gain deep insight of how important the role of technical test analyst is within test automation and static and dyna mic analysis. The theory will be covered over the first four days followed by an examination on the fifth day. The theory is supported by practical assignments to ensure that it is understood and can be applied. At the end of the course, participants will know the principles behind the Agile approach to software development and they will be able to identify the differences between the role of testers in Agile projects and the role of testers in other projects. An additional objective is to be able to help an Agile team focus on testing and also to learn to deal with challenges from other disciplines, inside and outside the team. The course will also focus on the social skills of the tester. The course and the trainer are isqi (International Software Quality Institute) accredited to an international standard. For the practical part of this course, participants should bring a laptop that is bootable via USB. 11 Agile testing Continued SCRUM Game This workshop is designed to allow participants to experience the benefits and disadvantages of testing within SCRUM. Participants are put in a real life SCRUM testing case where a product has to be tested through a number of iterations to meet certain quality requirements. The main part of the training consists of executing SCRUM testing iterations based on User Stories. During the iterations the participants learn to advise to the Product Owner whether or not to take a product, especially developed for this course, into production. Throughout the workshop we dedicate time to discuss the theoretical basis. We discuss the fundamentals of Agile and talk about a specific method (SCRUM) to ensure testing is managed properly in an Agile context. On top of this we discuss the principle of business value, prioritization and practices that make testing an efficient and value adding activity in an Agile environment. Context Driven Testing It is a known fact that tests should be executed correctly and thoroughly under any circumstances. Therefore testers are required to achieve accurate results regardless of the specific context. The tester should be able to use the context he / she is working with and transform it into an effective test approach, efficient test techniques and appropriate testing documentation. Context factors of high importance include development methodology (agile, waterfall, but also ad-hoc), available time and risks associated with the product. During the one-day training Context Driven Testing you learn these insights and skills in two phases. In the first part the participants get to know and experience limitations and weaknesses of process-oriented testing, as well as learn to recognize the different aspects of the given context they have to work with. In the second part they are taught new skills and means to ensure they can handle every context. Participants learn exploratory testing and session-based test management, mind mapping and the benefits and use of heuristics. TI4LowBudget Instruction on the approach Applying the approach in your own situation TI4LowBudget: test improvement in small and medium sized organizations Test Process Improvement (TPI) actions are often initiated and executed at a high level in an organization, i.e. outside the influence of testers and test teams. A common complaint is that it takes a long time to implement improvements. One of the problems of popular test improvement models like TPI Next and TMMi is that they require formal assessments, resulting in improvement suggestions with a long lead time and significant effort. For a lot of smaller organizations TPI Next or TMMi are not suitable and require too much effort. This course describes a Polteq approach (TI4LowBudget ) that leads to real short-term improvements which have immediate impact. The measures improve the test process step by step in everyday practice. The success of the method is that improvements have been suggested by the people involved. Improving in this way becomes second nature and a standard activity in people s daily work. The course consists of two parts: 1. Short instruction on the approach. 2. A more flexible approach for test improvement is required. Currently we see organizations using various solutions, such as web technologies, cloud computing and mobile applications side by side. On top of it the way systems are developed, tested and managed has drastically changed. Agile / scrum, continuous integration / delivery, DevOps and Context Driven Testing have become the defacto standard. Needless to say that effective test automation is generally a prerequisite. The TI4 approaches and Context Driven Test Improvement help you choose the best matching tactic and method specifically for your situation. In fact it is the IT-context that determines how testing can be improved. Sometimes you can simply use one of the existing models (TPI Next, TI4Agile or TI4Automation to name a few). 20 Technical trainings Continued Automated web testing with Selenium IDE Introduction on test automation Principles of Selenium IDE Hands-on workshop: applying Selenium IDE Automated web testing with Selenium IDE Open source tools are commonly used by organizations for testing several parts of an application. Selenium IDE is one such tool and we have developed a one-day workshop Automated Web Testing with Selenium IDE. This workshop starts with a short introduction to test automation and then focuses specifically on Selenium. A detailed demonstration of the capabilities of Selenium is given, followed by hands-on experience of using it. At the end of the course participants are able to create and adapt maintainable test scripts with Selenium IDE and execute them in various browsers. Using control logic in test scripts is also covered. This workshop is intended for people involved in (manually) creating and executing test cases, such as functional test engineers. Software programming experience is not required for this course, but basic knowledge of it is recommended. Automated testing with Selenium WebDriver 2 days Introduction Introducing Java Selenium WebDriver Abstraction of the application under test Test scripts Automated testing with Selenium WebDriver Selenium is widely used as a test automation tool. Alongside the workshop Automated web testing with Selenium IDE, we have developed a follow-up workshop Automated testing with Selenium WebDriver that concentrates on implementing a structured test automation framework. Java programming language is used during this two-day workshop. First Java is introduced, followed by the basics of object-oriented programming. After this introduction the participants create an abstract of the application under test, and the most commonly used Selenium WebDriver functions are explained and used. At the end of the workshop the participants will have created test scripts using the Java test framework TestNG. A subset of the course material will be provided digitally to the participants for immediate usage in their daily practice. This course is intended for people who want to implement a test automation framework. It is highly recommended that participants have practical programming experience. 16

21 Technical trainings Continued Security testing Nowadays news is filled with stories of how hackers attack sites with sensitive information. How can they get such easy access, one would ask. During this training we discuss in detail the reasons and causes as well as consequences of an inadequate information security putting specific focus on testing this security. We cover the most important attack categories and provide practical examples for each of them. For each of these categories we do specific exercises supported by effective tools. On top of it we also look into why these attacks were possible and what can be done to protect the software to prevent similar attacks in the future. Our life and houses are full with smart gadgets. The mobile applications behind these devices are significantly more dynamic and offer way more functionality than a website for instance. In this one day training participants practice with crucial concepts on different platforms (ios and Android). This way they will learn and feel what risks they come across and which tests they can perform. We also discuss the way the application responds to different network coverage, language settings, location information, power consumption and memory load. While walking through the entire test process we pay particular attention to test coordination, strategy and ways to stay up-to-date with the new trends. The course is designed for IT professionals who are responsible for / involved in setting up, coordinating or conducting mobile app testing. Practical experience in testing is preferred. In other words, the tester should realize and check what software will potentially be used behind the API and what (existing or future) devices and systems it will have to integrate with. This two-day training was designed by the International Software Quality Institute (isqi). The course prepares participants for the CMAP exam and provides enough information to start working with mobile applications. This training is highly practice oriented, offering many exercises with different (open source) tools. We go through several gestures, discuss object identification and assertions. Agile development, service-orientated architecture, cloud and outsourcing makes testing the connection between systems more difficult and absolutely critical. Testing of interfaces and system integration testing are not new. These tests, however, do not fully cover the high risk of dependencies between processes, actual usage and the systems involved.
