Introduction General requirements for Certification Bodies (CB s) wishing to be accredited to certify against SANS 1162:2011 Responsible Tourism Requirements are laid down in the International Standard ISO/IEC ISO/IEC 17065:2012 is an International Standard which sets out criteria for bodies operating certification of products, services and processes. 2. Purpose and Scope The purpose of this document is to specify the minimum qualifications and experience requirements of the Certification Body s auditors and scopes of accreditation of the Certification Bodies responsible to certify organisations to SANS : Responsible Tourism Requirements. The context in which this document is written is to provide additional guidance towards fulfilling the requirements of SANS 1162:2011. The requirements contained in this document shall be met by all SANAS accredited Certification Bodies to which accreditation has been granted or is being sought. 3. Minimum Qualifications and Experience for Certification Body s Auditors Minimum qualifications and experience requirements that are deemed such to ensure competence to the required functions of a Certification Body are set out in the Table 1 below. Certification Body auditors will be able to audit a scope once it has verified factual evidence of their qualifications and experience ((as described below) for each scope or sub-scope. Certification Bodies shall maintain records of qualifications and experience of its auditors. Experience involves working or providing certification services in the scope. Initial training of new Certification Body s auditors shall include witnessing of a certification audit and on-site monitoring by a qualified Certification Body personnel member. Certification Bodies shall have a procedure on how they ensure continuous competence of their auditors. SANAS Page 3 of 6
