1 INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY Program Description Eastern Iowa Community Colleges, separates Information Technology (IT) into two tracks: Networking and Programming (Software Development); then, we provide further specialized concentrations: Augmented and Virtual Reality, Database Administration, Hardware/Help Desk, Networking (CCNA), Programming (.NET), Security and Forensics, Server Administration, Web Development. Consulting opportunities will continue to grow as businesses increasingly need help managing, upgrading, and customizing more complex computer systems. Security and forensics are fast becoming one of the most sought after jobs in the marketplace. Networking or Programming? The first decision you will make when entering the IT program is to select the Networking (Infrastructure) or Programming(Software Development/Engineering) track. The first two semesters are the same for each of these two tracks with a few common courses between them. So, it is important to decide early on which track you wish to pursue. Information Technology (IT) program faculty and advisors can help you in making your choice. Networking Hardware/Help Desk Administration Networking (CCNA) Security and Forensics Server Administration Programming (Software Development) Augmented and Virtual Reality Database Programming (.NET) Web Development Partners We have partnered with many companies to offer our IT students current curriculum and certification support. We are a Cisco Networking Academy, Oracle Academic Academy,CompTIA, MeasureUp, Certiport, Microsoft Academic Alliance, MTA, MOS. Certifications Our curriculum is mapped to certifications; and we provide tools such as practice exams, testing vouchers, and a testing center to make getting one or more industry-standard certifications while taking classes (ex. Cisco Certified Network Associate, A+, Network+, Microsoft Technology Associate,Oracle) a seamless integration into your coursework. Award Options Associate of Applied Science Degree Diploma Certificate Job Outlook Demand for Information Technology is expected to increase because of the rapid pace of improved tech. As computers and software become more complex, these individuals will be needed to provide technical assistance to customers and other users as well as maintain the desktop, server, and security devices on the company network. Consulting opportunities will continue to grow as businesses increasingly need help managing, upgrading, and customizing more complex computer systems. Employment and output in computer systems design and related services are projected to grow rapidly over the next decade, outpacing similar professional, scientific, and technical industries and the economy as a whole. Employment and output in the computer systems design and related services industry is expected to grow rapidly as firms and individual consumers continue to increase their use of information technology services For details on salary and other information on the Networking field go to Technology CLINTON, MUSCATINE AND SCOTT COMMUNITY COLLEGES Department Coordinator - MCC Angela Henning (563) ahenning@eicc.edu Department Coordinator - SCC James Noord (563) jnoord@eicc.edu Toll-free Our Web Links: Since the colleges of EICC are continually reviewing programs, information in the course catalog may change.
