1 Getting Started Please read the Operating Instructions for the details. Keep this leaflet for the future reference. The suffix of each model number is omitted. Flexible Stand 3 pcs. If any items are missing, please contact the dealer immediately. Network Camera Configuration Type The Network Camera can be connected over the LAN/Intranet and the Internet. Please select from the four Network Camera configuration types. Network parameters differ depending on the Network Camera configuration type. [Type 1] LAN/Intranet Connection with an Ethernet Switching Hub Network Camera can be installed on the LAN/Intranet. [Type 2] Internet Connection with a Broadband Router Network Camera can be accessed from the Internet. The broadband router needs Port Forwarding (IP Masquerade) feature on Page 32 in the Operating Instructions. LAN/Intranet Ethernet switching hub* 1 Internet Modem Broadband WAN Router LAN CATV xdsl Optical cable * 1 Network traffic can be smooth by using the Ethernet switching hub. [Type 3] Internet Direct Connection with a Modem Network Camera can be installed alone without PC on the network. When you set up the Network Camera in [Type 3], please connect the Network Camera temporarily in [Type 1], [Type 2] or [Type 4]. [Type 4] Direct Connection with a PC Network Camera can be installed with the PC directly. Internet Modem Category 5 cross cable Most of the xdsl services use PPPoE. Network Camera does not support PPPoE. If the Internet connection requires PPPoE, please connect with the router supporting PPPoE like [Type 2]. 2 How to turn on Network Camera for Installation Connect the DC plug of the AC adaptor to the DC IN jack (1.) and Category 5 straight/cross cable to the Ethernet port (2.). Attach the AC cord to the AC adaptor (3.). Connect the AC plug to the power outlet (4.). DC IN jack Ethernet port (1.) DC Plug AC adaptor Category 5 straight/cross cable (2.) AC cord (3.) (4.) To Network Power Outlet s AC adaptor is used as the main disconnect device, ensure that the power outlet is located/installed near the equipment and is easily accessible. Use Only with specified Panasonic AC adaptor PSLP1238 (Order No. PSLP1238Z). AC Adaptor is for indoor use only. After you have finished setting up the Network Camera, please go to Page 5 in this Getting Started for Outdoor Cabling and Mounting. When you set up the Network Camera in [Type 3], please connect the Network Camera temporarily in [Type 1], [Type 2] or [Type 4]. Preparing the Network Parameters for the Network Camera Before starting to set up the network parameters of Network Camera, please make note of corresponding network parameters. Select from 0.1 to Unlimited Mbit/s (default) (default) You do not need to set up. * 1 * 2 * 3 * 4 When you use more than one Network Camera with a broadband router, each Network Camera needs its own port no. The broadband router needs the Port Forwarding feature. Refer to Page 32 in the Operating Instructions. Many ISP's intentionally block port no. 80 to guard against certain network viruses. If your ISP blocks port no. 80, please substitute another unused port no. Refer to the broadband router's manual for the Port Forwarding feature. When you use Network Camera in DHCP feature, check [DHCP] and enter the Host Name if the ISP requires. If you automatically get the address of Default Gateway and DNS server from DHCP server, you do not need to set up. 2

3 Proxy Server Setting The proxy server may prevent you from connecting directly to the Network Camera in some corporate environments. The web browser can set up the IP address communication without the proxy server. Please discuss the installation with the ISP or network administrator Start up the Internet Explorer. (The window is Internet Explorer 5.50.) Select [Tools] [Internet Options...] [Connections] tab and click [LAN Settings]. Please confirm if the Use a proxy server check box is checked or not in the next window. When checked, click [Advanced...]. 3. Enter the IP address of Network Camera assigned from the ISP or the network administrator into the Do not use proxy server for addresses beginning with data field. Confirm if the check box is checked or not. When checked, click [Advanced...]. 4. Click [OK] on all of the opening window. Simple Installation using the Setup CD-ROM After finishing cabling, please turn on the Network Camera and insert the Setup CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of the PC. Setup CD-ROM should start the application automatically. This programme automatically finds the Network Cameras on the network Turn on the Network Camera. Insert the Setup CD-ROM in the CD-ROM drive of the PC. (If the Network Camera Setup window does not appear, please click "Setup.exe" in the Setup CD-ROM.) 3. Click [Network Configuration]. The Network Camera List window appears. The Network Camera List window lists all of the MAC addresses and IP addresses of the Network Camera on the network. (A) s Setup CD-ROM software identifies the Network Camera by listening for the data sent out for the first 20 minutes after the Network Camera is powered up. If it exceeds 20 minutes, please temporarily disconnect the power to restart this operation. Do not connect the Network Camera over the broadband routers. Setup programme cannot detect the Network Camera. 3

4 4. Select your target Network Camera from the list as shown on example (A) on the Network Camera List window and click [Select]. The Configuration window appears. Please refer to Page 2 in this Getting Started and enter the correct network parameters. 5. Click [Save] on the Configuration window when finishing. The "Successful!" message boxes appear and click [OK]. The following message box appears and have the links to Top Page and Setup Page (Network window). Click [Top Page] and Top Page appears. Please refer to Operating Instructions for the details. Top Page Accessing from the web browser Enter " address:port No." Enter " address:port No./config.html" in the address field and press [Enter]. (When port no. is 80 (default), you do not need to enter port no.) Setup Page Click the language to change the display. s First viewing the image on the Internet Explorer may display a pop up Security Warning window. The window requests your permission to download ActiveX Controls (OCX file) used to display Motion JPEG. Please refer to Page 38 in the Operating Instructions. If you are configuring in [Type 3], Top Page may not appear at this point. After the Network Camera is directly connected with the modem, please check the Network Camera Access from the Internet on Page 32 in the Operating Instructions. 4

5 Network Camera Cabling Please check the location where Network Camera should be installed. Select the proper cable fitted to the Network Camera location. 1. Put the cables through the Connector Cover (1.). Connect the DC plug of the AC adaptor to the DC IN jack (2.) and Category 5 straight/cross cable to the Ethernet port (3.). Attach the AC cord to the AC adaptor (4.). Connect the AC plug to the power outlet (5.). DC IN jack Ethernet port (2.) DC Plug (3.) Connector Cover (1.) AC adaptor Category 5 straight/cross cable AC plug (5.) AC cord (4.) To Network Power Outlet s External I/O and Ground should be threaded through Connector Cover. Once you putty the cables, External I/O and Ground cannot be connected till you take the putty off. Please check the location of Network Camera, the type and the length of the Ethernet cable (Max. 100 m). Please use the Ethernet cable as short as possible for outdoor. Lightning may cause serious damage to the Network Camera. Use Category 5 cross cable when connecting directly to the PC. 2. Thread the AC adaptor cord through the hook. Put the Rubber Cap and the Connector Cover by fastening the three screws in numerical orders. A remaining screw hole of Connector Cover is used for attaching Sunshade. Carefully insert the Rubber Cap into the hole, gently pressing it into place using the end of the long tool. AC adaptor cord Connector Cover Be sure to thread the AC adaptor cord through the hook. 6 3. Attach the Sunshade by fastening the two screws. 4. Roll up three putties around the cables. Stuff putties little into the hole to prevent the water from getting inside. Use last putty to fix the spot. s Please confirm Network Camera operation before puttying the cables. Putties and Self Bonding tape cannot be used twice. Please check the length and the type of the Ethernet cable before fixing with putty. Three putties Last putty 5. Roll up the Self Bonding tape over the puttied cables. Network Camera needs Self Bonding tape to mount on the wall or the ceiling. Please leave half of Self Bonding tape. Do not cover the ventilation hole mm Roll up by extending the Self Bonding tape. 6. Connect the Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port of hub, the broadband router or the PC. 6

7 Network Camera Mounting Four mounting methods are shown in the following figures. Please confirm the top and bottom of the Network Camera when mounting. Flexible Stand Mounting 1) Attach the Network Camera by screwing the threaded mount into the tripod mounting hole. 2) Turn the grip to fix the Flexible Stand firmly. Tripod Mounting Attach the Network Camera to the tripod by using the tripod bolt. Tripod mounting hole 1) 2) Tripod mounting hole Wall Mounting 1) Mount the Flexible Stand firmly to the wall or the beam using the three screws (accessories). Please set the Flexible Stand 165 mm away from the ceiling. Please use proper screws fit for the material of the wall. 2) Attach the Network Camera by screwing the threaded mount into the tripod mounting hole. Mounting hole on the rear side is also available. 3) Adjust the position of the Network Camera and secure the Flexible Stand firmly. 4) Roll up the cables and Flexible Stand with the Self Bonding tape (accessories). 1) 2) 165 mm Caulk around Flexible Stand if you need 3) 4) Please waterproof the rest of the cable. 8 Ceiling Mounting 1) Mount the Flexible Stand firmly to the ceiling or the beam using the three screws (accessories). Please use proper screws fit for the material of the ceiling. 2) Attach the Network Camera by screwing the threaded mount into the tripod mounting hole. 3) Adjust the position of the Network Camera and secure the Flexible Stand firmly. 4) Roll up the cables and Flexible Stand with the Self Bonding tape (accessories). 1) 2) Caulk around Flexible Stand if you need 3) 4) Self Bonding tape Please waterproof the rest of the cable. Make sure the Indicator is always in the upper right corner when you mount.
