3 PC connection 1. Insert the LAN cable into the Pluvi-ONE Ethernet port and the computer port. 2. Connect the power supply to the terminal block (14+, 16-) on the terminal board. 3. Set the computer IP address in the range with subnet mask Turn on Pluvi-ONE using the On/Off switch. Installing 3DOM 3DOM is the instrument configuration program; it is stored in the USB key - LSI LASTEM products. Follow the instructions of the Setup program for the installation. At the first run of 3DOM you must register the instrument you are using. Proceed as follows: 1. Start 3DOM. 2. Choose New from the Instrument menu. 3. Choose Pluvi-ONE and press Continue. 4. Enter the instrument serial number and its password shown on the label on the back. 5. Set the SSH connection type, the IP address and press Save. To enable the connection with Pluvi-ONE you must activate the Advanced mode (menu SYSTEM/Advanced mode) by directly operating the instrument keyboard. Configuration Pluvi-ONE needs to be configured with measurement parameters, connectivity and (if required) actuators and alarms. Creating a new configuration 1. In the 3DOM Instrument panel, select the instrument serial number. 2. Choose New from the Configuration menu. 3. Select the empty configuration template and press OK. 4. Assign a name to the configuration e press OK. Configuring the measurement parameters Select Measures from the Data Logging section and, for each sensor used: 1. Press the Add button, search for the desired sensor using the sensor P/N or searching for it in the membership category, and press the OK button. In case the required instrument is not listed, select a similar one and modify its parameters (name, unit of measure, etc.) or create a new one using the New button. 2. On the Elaborations tab, add the desired elaborations by setting the elaboration rate and the desired statistical elements. 3

4 3. On the Parameters tab, verify that the update rate and the power on time mode are the desired ones. 4. In case two measurements have the same name, we suggest to change one of them. 5. Press OK to accept the measure. Connectivity parameters Communication between Pluvi-ONE and external devices takes place by means of different network protocols. Therefore, you must configure the network connection parameters according to the protocol you are actually going to use. 3DOM allows you to configure the following network connections: Ethernet If enabled, allows SSH connection via PC. If an FTP Server is configured, it allows to send data on the specified FTP site and to update the configuration via FTP. Default value: IP: , Subnet mask: Wi-Fi It can be used as an alternative connection using a Wi-Fi transmitter (not included). It has the same functionality as Ethernet connection. Default value: not configured. PPP To be used with a cellular modem. It has the same functionality as Ethernet connection. Modem configuration on COM1 is required. Default value: not configured. Some features may require setting server parameters. Supported servers are as follows: DNS Server SMTP Server NTP Server FTP Server If configured, Pluvi-ONE can recognize the names of the network IP devices. You must specify it if you use names instead of IP addresses in SMTP Server, NTP Server and FTP Server. Default value: If configured, Pluvi-ONE can send s. Default value: not configured. If configured, Pluvi-ONE can keep its internal clock synchronized. Default value: 0.pool.ntp.org and 1.pool.ntp.org. It is the FTP site address where data will be sent and where configuration update files will be retrieved. It requires one of the following connectivity: Ethernet, Wi-Fi or PPP. Default value: not configured. Actuators and alarms Pluvi-ONE has 3 actuators (switched excitation channels) that can be used for powering external devices such as sensors and modems or for switching on alarm devices. It is also able to send s or SMS when certain conditions defined in the actuation logics occurs. To add an actuation logic, proceed as follows: 1. Select Logics in the Events section and press the Add button. 2. Choose the logic type and press the Add button. 3. Assign a name to the logic, set the required parameters and press OK. 4

5 To associate a logic to an actuator, proceed as follows: 1. Select Actions in the Events section; select the actuator number and press the Edit button. 2. Check the name of the previously entered logic and press OK. Saving configuration and sending to Pluvi-ONE To save the configuration, press the Save button on the 3DOM Toolbar. To upload the configuration on the instrument: 1. In the Configurations tab select the configuration name. 2. Right-click on the selected name and choose Upload 3. Select SSH mode and press the Edit button. 4. Enter on the Instrument IP field and press Save. 5. Press OK to start the operation. When the configuration upload ends, the instrument will restart with the new settings. Connecting sensors Sensors must be connected to the instrument according the resident 3DOM configuration. For this reason, we recommend to generate a Configuration report in order to identify the input used. Repeat the key sequence to return to extended mode. V B A T T V T E M P C U R E L % If the measurements are more than four, they scroll down to the top. To pause scrolling, press and choose Change scroll mode. Use to move to the desired measurements. 5

6 Repeat the key sequence to return to scrolling mode. Operational checkafter connecting the sensors and verifying the correct acquisition of the measurements, we recommend to check the connectivity features (sending data to FTP site, sending mail, sending SMS, etc.) You can test some connectivity parameters from the CONNECTIVITY submenu, accessible from the ADVANCED FEATURES menu. > E t h e r n e t W i P P P - F i C O N N E C T I V I T Y C F G : S T A T I C I P : N M : G W : S M S Here s an example of settings for the Ethernet port. Product identification The serial number and the firmware version of Pluvi-ONE are visible from ABOUT... on the SYSTEM menu. Identification info is also on the label on the back of the instrument.
