2 DOCUMENT INTENDED PURPOSE AND READERS This document lists the minimal environmental requirements (Hardware, Operating Systems, Networking, ) to be set up to install and run and its components. This document purpose is to provide useful information to communicate or check the Link 2.1 operating environment in order to market the product, install and give technical support. Concerned readers of this document are Mindray sales, marketing, technical operators involved in Link projects, commercial offers, installation and maintenance, the Customers and anybody involved in the supply, installation and maintenance of Link, including the persons responsible of the infrastructures hosting Link or used by Link for communication purposes. CHANGES OF THIS DOCUMENT FROM THE PREVIOUS SOFTWARE VERSION (2.0) This document has been updated inserting in the Paging devices table the new models of tested phones. It has been inserted also a new table concernig the Data sources connected with link. The WiFi network requirements have been detailed. More specification have been added about remote access and AC power interruptions. In the following tables: <undefined> means that there's no need for a special brand or model, <not allowed> means that this feature has not to be present (possible malfunctioning), <not used> means that the feature can be installed but will not be used by Link 2.1. Other features have not been listed since they either don't affect any internal test result or are not clearly related to possible interferences with Link's 2.1 operation. PERMISSION TO USE SMARTLINK The listed requirements are intended as minimal features/performances REQUIRED, NOT SUGGESTED to use Link. In case the environment does not comply with these minimal requirements, Link has not to be used (except for testing or demonstration). On behalf of Software Team, in case of non compliant environment there will be no permission or allowance to use Link. Users that despite of this information will anyway run and use Link in a non compliant environment will be the only responsible of any possible direct or indirect consequence of malfunctioning, including injuries to the patients. Additional storage space can be added: the additional disk space to store 1 day of data received from 1 patient monitor is about 25 Mbyte. For Virtual Machines, the required amount of RAM has to be intended as reference: depending on the configuration of the server that hosts the virtual machines and on the configuration of the virtual machines, the required amount of RAM might be smaller. To define the right RAM amount for virtual machines, benchmanrk tools generally provided by the virtual machines producers shall be used. (Note 2) The internet browser can be executed to run the Link client from inside the Link server ONLY FOR MAINTENANCE AND TROUBLESHOOTING. Link client execution is NOT ALLOWED on the Link server for any other purposes. (Note 3) In case of waves module, it is suggested to choose a physiscal single PC as server rather than a virtual machine. Pag. 3/6

(Note 4) RDP (Remote Desktop) connections can be used to run the Link client (Windows.NET application) using devices with operating systems other than Windows (Apple, Android). A separate PC is recommended for this solution: the PC will be equipped with Windows Server O.S. and a number of allowed users equal or greater than the number of the possible RDP connections. Each user will run his own separate RDP session and, inside this session, the Link client. (Note 5): The specified WiFi network speed is enough to support up to 10 paging devices at the same time. In case of additional paging devices, add 100 Kbps of speed for each added device. (Note 6): The specified 3G network speeds are enough for one paging device connected through the 3G network. The WiFi network has to be set up and configured to guarantee, in the entire coverage area where will be used (department, rooms, aisles,...): the WiFi network virtualization to eliminate the need of roaming and guarantee a seamless connection of the smart phones (In this case the WiFi network controller will actively monitor and listen to all APs on the network, selecting the best one for transmitting data to the client. Roaming will be eliminated because the client will see all APs as a single AP). This feature is made available by the main professional WiFi active devices manufacturers. WiFi networks requiring roaming performed by the device (smartphone) are not suitable for the operation, because the disconnection time during roaming can be reduced but not eliminated. a signal strength of -65dBm or better, no cross-interferences between the WiFi channels used by the network is connected to and other WiFi channels in use. 7 UPS SYSTEM The Link server system and the active network devices (including WiFi infrastructures) involved in the Link/ operation shall be equipped with a UPS system to guarantee working continuity and to avoid malfunctionings due to AC power interruptions. REMOTE ACCESS The customer shall grant Software Team and Mindray remote access to the system server for maintenance. The remote access shall be activable 24hours/365days. The remote access shall allow to operate on the Link server system using a VPN connection (with RDP or other remote control applications like VNC) or TeamViewer version 9. The customer has to inform Software Team and Mindray about the procedure to access the server from remote and, if needed, to provide encryption keys, certificates, VPN clients and any other item needed to access the system from remote. The security system of the customer shall allow the sending of s from Link to the outside to a specific list of allowed addresses (these s contain information about the technical status of the system, the failures and will never carry any specific patient information). These technical s might contain automatic service call generated by Link. These s are an essential part of a safe and secure Link installation management. Pag. 6/6
