The diagram depicted in Figure 1 represents a sample network topology. A tunnel was established between Laptop-1 and the Avaya AP-II for secure voice and data transmissions. Site-to-Site tunnels were also established over all the WAN links between the VSU100 and the VSU5000. A network sniffer was used to verify that the packets going through the tunnels were encrypted. 4 2. Equipment and Software Validated The following software/firmware versions were used during the testing: Equipment Version Avaya IP600 Internet Protocol Communication Server R010c Avaya IP Office 3.1(25) Avaya IP Phone Manager Avaya Definity G3R R010c Avaya AP-II Manager Avaya Wireless Client Manager 1.76 Avaya VSU5000 Gateway Avaya VSU100R Gateway Avaya VSU100 Gateway Avaya P130 Switch Avaya P333R Switch Avaya X330W_2DS1 Module Avaya IP Telephone(s) Avaya IP Softphone(s) 1.6 Avaya VPNmanager Avaya VPNremote Client 3.1 Lucent AP R3.1 QVPN Lucent Packetstar PSAX 1250 V07.01.C00 3. Avaya IP600 Server Configuration The basic administration task order is as follows: 1. Set up udp (Uniform Dialing Plan) 2. Set up ip-network-region 3. Set up ip-codecs 4. Set up node-names ip 5. Set up ip-interfaces 6. Set up data-module 7. Set up signal-group 8. Set up trunk-group 9. Set up aar (Automatic Alternate Routing) 10. Set up route-pattern 11. Set up stations Step 1 Configure the Uniform Dial Plan In this configuration a 5-digit dial plan was used with the following extension ranges: 4 of 39

IP600 Local: 435xx for analog phones and digital phones 436xx for IP Telephones 437xx for IP Softphones 2xxxx for Data Modules Central Site: 400xx for all phones, mapped to AARCode 200 The routing configuration to the Central Site will be show in later steps. It should be noted that the dialplan and routing configuration to the Central Site is dependent on what is already configured at the Central Site. This is an example of what was used to verify the configuration. At the prompt, type change dialplan. Match the parameters of the screen shown below, and then press Enter to apply the changes. This sets the five-digit dial plan. At the prompt, type change udp 4. Match the parameters of the screen shown below, and then press Enter to apply the changes. This assigns 436xx, 437xx, 438xx, and 439xx to be local extensions. It also assigns 400xx to an AARCode of 200 to be used later when configuring the routing to the Central Site. 5 of 39

Similarly type the change udp 2 command to assign Local to Ext Code 2xxxx. This is needed since the Data Modules are using the 2xxxx extension range. 2 Configure the IP Network Region. At the prompt, type change ip-network-region 1. Match the parameters of the screen shown below, and then press Enter to apply the changes. 6 of 39

3 Select the audio codecs to be used. At the prompt, type change ip-codec-set 1. Match the parameters of the screens shown below, and then press Enter to apply the changes. All the codecs that are available are listed here. Assign them in order of preference. 4 Assign node names and IP addresses to each node in the network. At the prompt, type change node-names ip. Create node names and IP addresses for each board as shown below, then press Enter to apply the changes. Note that an IP address for the Definity C-LAN board, which is located in the Central Site has also been created. 7 of 39

5 Define the IP interfaces for C-LAN and MEDPRO boards. At the prompt, type change ip-interfaces and enter the type, slot location, name, gateway address, and network region for each IP interface board. Press Enter to apply the changes. Note: The slots have to match the actual board locations. If the C-LAN and MEDPRO boards are not in the same slots shown below, the Slot field on the ipinterfaces form must be changed to match the physical board location. 6 Configure a Link on an Ethernet Data Module for the C-LAN. At the prompt, type add data-module and match the parameters of the screen shown below. Press Enter to apply the changes. The port has to match with the physical C-LAN slot in the IP600 server. Press Enter to apply the changes. The available data-module extensions are shown in step 1. The data-module is used for the C-LAN. 01A04 indicates the location of the C-LAN board, and 17 is the required port number. 8 of 39

7 Configure a signaling group. At the prompt, type add signaling-group 6. The following information should be created / changed to match your network settings. Press Enter to apply the changes. Group Type = h.323 Near-end Node Name = IP600-CLAN Far-end Node Name = Def-One-CLAN Far-end Listen Port = 1720 Notice that the field Trunk Group for Channel Selection must be left blank when adding the signaling group, even though this screen shows the value 6. This value will be added in a later step. 9 of 39

8 Configuring a trunk group. At the prompt, type add trunk-group 6. The following information should be created or changed to match the network settings. On page 1 of 10: Group Type = isdn TAC =105 (could be 1xx) Group Name = IP Trunk to Def-One (any name) Service Type = Tie Carrier Medium = IP On page 2 of 10: Send Name = y Send Calling Number = y Send Connected Number = y 10 of 39

On page 4 of 10: Port = ip Sig Grp = 6 Note: On the Port field IP must be typed. The virtual IP port that was assigned (e.g.t00001) will be highlighted as shown below, if the display or change trunkgroup 6 command is issued after the configuration is applied. The number of ports entered determines the number of simultaneous calls that will be allowed over the trunk. Hit Enter to apply the changes. Now set the Trunk Group for Channel Selection field to 6, in the signaling-group. The first thing to do is to take the link out of service by typing busy signaling-group 6. Type change signaling-group 6, and set the Trunk Group for Channel Selection field to 6. Press Enter to apply the change. Then, type release signalgroup 6 to bring it into service. 11 of 39

9 Set AAR routing to route calls to the Central Site. As stated before, the extensions in the Central Site were assigned in the 400xx range and mapped to AARCode 200 At the prompt, type change aar analysis 200. Match the parameters shown below for the dialed string 200. In this example 6 was selected as the route pattern used to route the calls. 10 Create a route pattern for routing to the Central Site. At the prompt, type change route-pattern 6. Set the Group No to match the Trunk Group previously configured (6). Set the FRL to 0. Set the number of deleted digits to 3. Set the Inserted Digits to 4. The Inserted Digits (4) must match the leading digit of the 5-digit number; in this example the digit happens to be 4. When using a 4-digit dial plan, there is no need to insert any digits. Press Enter to apply the changes. 11 Create stations. Note that the add station command is used to add a new station, and the change 12 of 39

station command is used to make changes after a station is created. Included are screens of two IP station forms. Digital and Analog stations are added in a similar manner, but the Type and Port they are connected to must be specified. Create an IP Softphone station: At the prompt, type add station Provide the following information: Name = (Choose any name) Type = 4624 Security Code = 1234 (This is needed for the IP Softphone to register) IP Softphone? = y Press Enter to apply the changes. Create an IP Telephone station: At the prompt, type add station Provide the following information. Name = (Choose any name) Type = 4624 (This must match the IP Telephone type used) Security Code = 1234 (This is needed for the IP Telephone to register) 13 of 39

Press Enter to apply the changes. For Analog and Digital stations, the type of the phone and its port need to be provided. 4.
