3 1. Description of Purposed Instrument 1.1. HPLC/IC S003.2 Portlab is the only Italian Company capable to manufacture and Purpose Ion Chromatograph and HPLC Systems available for every kind of application. 4 Description of the Chromatograph S003.2 The Chromatograph purposed for this tender is modular and vertically mounted. The solvent delivery module is composed by a free metal pumping system binary gradient, with 2 independent mechanisms pumping solvents inside a Dynamic Mixing Chamber in High Pressure. This configuration enable the possibility to use the solvent delivery system for binary gradients operations or for derivatization protocols, using one of the two mechanism as derivatizator pump. The mechanism is an High Performance HPLC unit and it is much more performant then low pressure gradient systems. The 4 check valves ensures fluidic stability and the back flush head dramatically extends the piston seals life. The injection system is 6 ways/ 2 positions Rheodyne type in peek synchronized for the start of the chromatogram. This module can be expanded in future adding the special AUTOBLOCK, completely software controlled, is capable to execute the most difficult operations. AUTOBLOCK is a Portlab exclusive, and enable possibility of including conditioning programs, washing and column/eluent change directly inside the queue list. It means that customer needs just to load the vials inside the sample rack and execute the list. The instrument automatically will: Clean the needle using water Choose the right columns and eluents and start conditioning Load the sample inside the sample loop and inject it once the system is stable Execute all sample is simultaneous, sequential or single mode Calibrate from standards Integrate peeks according to preloaded criterias and receiving results Printout reports Autoswith of the low pressure valve to the water for cleaning of the hydraulic lines prior to switch off Autoswitch off The CD-510 Microprocessor s Conductivity Detectors, shows the most advanced performaces in the world, with unique dinamic range ( us/cm). Thanks to its fantastic performances, Portlab Devices works for Cation analysis in non suppressed mode. For anions, Portlab uses ACS chemical suppressor membrane technology, which ensures the best performances against and solid phase suppressor. The Fluorescence Detector, the Ultrafluor 1200, manufacturer for us by Agilent Technologies, is one of the best unit in the world. This unit includes internal driver protocol for driving without software. The UV-VIS VIS detector ector, 104M, is a detector that can show a fantastic stability, a very low noise level and a verry quick stabilization time. The software, Chrom&Spech per Windows, Allows the full control of the device, the data acquisition, the storage of the datas and the manipulations, the creation of personalized reports and many other things the software is installed on a Latest Generation workstation, inclusive of monitor and laserprinter. Al the instrument is stabilized through a UPS unit by APC. All purposed columns are suitable for the required applications. All Instrument s fluid path is manufactured in PEEK, ph compatible PORTLAB devices ensures analytical results according to the most important world analytical parameters (EPA, FDA, CNR)

8 2. Technical Characteristics Solvent delivery system PortLab Serie II Portlab Serie III Modular Analytical Pumps The size of the analytical HPLC pump is mere 30 cm wide. Two or more pumps and other components can be stacked to comprise a gradient HPLC system requiring minimal bench space in the crowded modern laboratory. Excellent pump performance The pumping method integrated with membrane pulse dumper ensures the most reliable, accurate and stable solvent delivery possible. A guaranteed flow rate precision within 0.1% assures good reproducibility of retention time. Pulse-free flow assures maximum detector sensitivity, thanks to high technology pistons and the membrane pulse Dumper integrated. Moreover, the high performance pump mechanic guarantee very high working pressures (around 450 bars for SS316 pump heads!) Extreme durability The duel check Valve system and the back flush pump head assures a long maintanance free pump life. Integrated leds and acoustic signals warning user in case of fault, leakage or other inconveniences. Special and unique feature allows user to set up Intelligent High pressure limit, so that one s it has been reached by pump it will stop, but then restart itself when the pressure comes down to 75% of the maximum limit. The pump can be controlled via Software using RS-232 protocol and can be paired for gradient operations. Special button disconnects pressure transducer and allows user to measure pressure only inside the mixing chamber (when gradient is performed). 23 ACS Suppressor The working principle of the suppressor is to eliminate the Sodium cations from the eluent flow thanks to a selective ion-exchange process that occurs inside the suppression membrane between sodium and H+ presents in the regenerant solution, generated by chemical process applied to the inlet to the detector s flow cell.
