1 Configuration Guide : V150 The V150 shares option cards with the V200. All option cards that operate in the V150 can operate in the V200, and all except the V200 PSU Card will work in the V150. This guide outlines some sample configurations, the essential minimal configurations, and the parts required. Basic Legal Configuration Unlike the V100, which had in-built serial data and IP ports, the V150 chassis offers no actual ports apart from the power socket(s) and the connection socket for the M&C cable. The V150 ships in one of two power configurations: or with the factory fitted redundant second power supply fitted: VI68160 V150 Redundant PSU If ordered without redundant power, the hole (above/right of the main IEC inlet) is filled. If ordered with redundant power, the hole is replaced with a cable pigtail connector with an IEC socket extending from the rear of the unit, for the second power supply. There is no point sharing one IEC inlet for two power supplies if you are going to have potential power issues outside the Vocality unit. A basic legal configuration does not need the redundant second power supply. It does, however, need a Standard CPU Card. This minimum configuration offers a single IP port, and a single serial data port. Whilst physically minimal, it could still be used as a powerful VoIP gateway device with SIP license. 2 Basic Voice Configuration The V150 above is equipped with a Standard CPU Card. The Vocality range includes a number of modules which can convert a Standard CPU Card into another card an Analogue Voice Card, or an Ethernet Switch Card, for example. The Analogue Voice Card is a combination of a Standard CPU Card and the voice module used in the V50plus. The Analogue Voice Card delivers 4 enabled voice ports (the bottom row) whilst a feature key can be used to soft-enable the top row of voice ports. IP Router and serial data functionality is, of course, present in the unit. The four port configuration is as follows. VI68153 FXS Analogue Voice Card For an eight voice port configuration, you will need the added feature key SWF/VOICE8 to activate the second bank of 4 ports. Note: only the bottom 4 channels support 4 wire audio as well as 2 wire support. Digital Voice Application The Digital Voice Card for the V150 currently operates as a standalone card, which can be installed in either (or both) the second and third option slots. Therefore, 1 or 2 x configurations are possible. The first option slot requires a Standard CPU Card. 3 Sample USA DoD Application (1) This application is a sample application which could be used in a US DoD application. It is shown because of the US DoD requirements for secure STU III and STE voice. This configuration uses a basic chassis with an Analogue Voice Card installed. Also installed on that card (in the first slot) is an 8 channel SVR Card Secure Voice Relay. This card allows all 8 ports to deliver STU III or analogue STE support. The first of two routers is presented on this card. EXPANSION PORTS 1 TO 4 DATA The second slot has an Ethernet Switch Card, which uses an Ethernet module connected to a Standard CPU Card to deliver a card with serial data and an 8 port Switch presentation of the integrated router. The Ethernet port is disabled and rerouted to the 8 port switch card. Finally, for crypto serial data applications, we have included a 12 port serial data card shown here in the right hand slot. This card delivers 12 x 10Mbps serial data ports, which are presented via 3 x Quadrapuss cables (high density connectors going to 4 x HD DB15 connectors). The parts list for this combination is: VI68153 FXS Analogue Voice Card SWF/VOICE8 Analogue Voice SWF > 8 Voice VI68718/8 Secure Voice Relay 8 (Voice Card Add-On Module) VI68154 Ethernet Switch Card VI68204 High Speed Quad Data Card VI68205 High Speed Quad Data Expansion Card VI68160 V150 Redundant PSU (Optional) Sample USA DoD Application (2) The Digital Voice Card can be upgraded with a 30 channel SVR Card Secure Voice Relay. This allows up to 60 (or 48 using 2 x T1) channels to concurrently deliver STU III, analogue STE and digital STE connectivity through a single V150 chassis. 4 Sample Satellite News Gathering Application Vocality provides capabilities that make its products appealing to satellite news gathering organisations. The V25 and V50plus platforms are small, handheld (or desktop) devices which are ideally suited to integration into non-standard flight cases, or being tucked into a travel case or bag ready for a news assignment. A more formal installation, with the comfort of an AC power supply and a rack mount environment calls for the V150. It s very rare that a day to day news gathering application requires more than 8 voice ports. The configuration shown above is a tradition one for a news gathering vehicle. Small Application (Day to Day News Comms) VI68153 FXS Analogue Voice Card This application supports IP or serial aggregates, with up to 4 telephony interfaces which can be configured as 2 wire or 4 wire. Large Application (Major Events) VI68153 FXS Analogue Voice Card Quantity 1 to 3 SWF/VOICE8 Feature Key unlocking channels 5 to 8 Quantity 1 to 3 SWF/PEP TCP Acceleration This application supports IP or serial aggregates, and because it s for a major event, there may be higher link bandwidths and demand for high TCP utilisation hence the inclusion of the TCP PEP Accelerator. The FXS Analogue Voice Card delivers 2 and 4 wire audio on the base 4 channels, with 2 wire comms on the second bank of 4. The V150 will take up to 3 voice configurations of this type delivering a maximum of 24 voice circuits of which 12 can be configured to be 4 wire. Page 4 of 5

5 Migrating Option Cards between V50plus, V150 and V200 (Analogue FXS Voice Module) Modules are free standing feature devices that enhance a V50plus, or a Standard CPU Card with a functionality. An Analogue FXS Voice Card as used in the V150 comprised a Standard CPU Card and an Analogue FXS Voice Module. This Module can be taken from an Analogue FXS Voice Card and installed into a V50plus. (Standard CPU Card) Likewise, a Standard CPU Card can be upgraded with an Analogue FXS Voice Module to create an Analogue FXS Voice Card. (Analogue FXS Voice Card) This installation work can only be performed by an engineer who has attended Vocality s maintenance product course. All option cards (horizontally) loaded into a V150 can be migrated to the V200 (vertically loaded). These are just a few of the example configurations which can be achieved using the V150.
