42 40/65 Bosch Rexroth AG DOK-CONTRL-IC*LX5*****-IT01-EN-P Mounting, Dismounting and Electrical Installation V Voltage Supply 24 V voltage supply The 24 V voltage supply can either be realized with or without electrical isolation. 24 V voltage supply: Setup without electrical isolation An easy connection method is the set-up without an electrical isolation between the internal logic and the peripheral supply. In this case, a power supply unit is appropriate to supply the control. The power output must not exceed 240 W! The GND (U LS ) is grounded in the device! Load and logic power supply unit + 24 V 0 V PE PE Overvoltage category I 24 V E.g. serial terminal UKS6-FSI/6 automatic cut-out TCP10A by PHOENIX CONTACT US (1) FE FE ULS GND (U LS) US U M (1) The polarity reversal can cause the destruction of the device (fire hazard) if there is no additional external protection. This is caused by the simultaneous grounding of the GND (U LS ) in the device and the GND (U LS ) load (PELV) at the power supply unit. GND (US, UM) Fig.10-25: Setup without electrical isolation NOTICE Ensure that there is an external fuse. Destruction of the device caused by polarity reversal at the power connector without additional external fuse. This is caused by simultaneous grounding of the GND (U LS ) in the device and the grounding of the GND (U LS ) load (PELV) at the power supply unit. This causes a short-circuit in the device. 24 V voltage supply: Reference conductor connected to the protective conductor and set-up with electrical isolation Provide electrical isolation between the logic of the central processing unit and the I/O interfaces of the peripheral devices according to DIN EN Accordingly, the voltage U LS (24 V logic voltage) is electrically isolated from the voltages U S (24 V segment voltage) and U M (24 V main voltage) in the control. If the reference conductor GND U LS is connected to the protective conductor system, this connection has to be arranged at a central place (e. g. at the load power supply unit). Hence, the supply current circuit is a PELV circuit.

This is caused by simultaneous grounding of the GND (U LS ) in the device and the grounding of the GND (U LS ) load (PELV) at the power supply unit. This causes a short-circuit in the device. Dimensioning the voltage supply Grounding Do observe the maximum currents when dimensioning the voltage supply. Directly at the device, a voltage of 20.4 V to 28.8 V must be available. The voltage must be observed even if There are variations in the line voltage, e.g. caused by different loads of the power supply network, There are varying load states, such as short-circuit, normal load, lamp load, or no load. The maximum conductor cross-section for the voltage supply is 1.5 mm 2. NOTICE Production failure possible due to control failure resulting from insufficient grounding. An optimum grounding is required to keep away possible interferences from the control and from the Rexroth Inline terminals and to discharge them to the ground. Functional earth ground Grounding screw The top-hat rail on which the control is mounted must be mounted to a grounded metal carrier, e. g. the rear panel of the control cabinet. A functional earth ground via the grounding screw is required to ensure optimum noise immunity. The grounding screw is positioned under the control (see 10-27). The functional earth ground is to be connected via a cable, which is as short as possible or, better, via a ground strip.

44 42/65 Bosch Rexroth AG DOK-CONTRL-IC*LX5*****-IT01-EN-P Mounting, Dismounting and Electrical Installation 1 Voltage jumper Potential equalization Notice regarding the protective conductor system Shielding General information on the shielding 1 Fig.10-27: Grounding screw Grounding screw, position Recommended value: Length: Max. 1 m, cross-section 6 mm 2. The functional earth ground (FE) is used for discharging disturbances. It is not provided as a protection against electric shock for persons. Starting at the control, the FE (functional earth ground) voltage jumper is routed through all connected Rexroth Inline terminals. This ensures that these terminals are grounded once the control, the supply terminals and the top-hat rail have been grounded properly. Potential equalization according to DIN VDE 0100 Part 540 must be provided between the system parts and the voltage supply. All components of the system are to be connected to the PE protective conductor system at the connectors that are marked accordingly. NOTICE Provide sufficient shielding. Production failure possible due to control failure resulting from insufficient shielding. The shielding reduces any effects of interferences on the system. Observe the following when shielding: Attach the shield as large as possible. Ensure proper contact between the connector and the terminal. Lay all line cables and data cables in separate cable channels Connecting Lines (for Digital Onboard Inputs, Outputs and Voltage Supply) to Tension Spring Connection Points General Information Connect the lines for digital onboard inputs, onboard outputs and the voltage supply to the control at the tension spring connection points.

45 DOK-CONTRL-IC*LX5*****-IT01-EN-P Bosch Rexroth AG 43/65 Mounting, Dismounting and Electrical Installation Connecting unshielded lines Lines with an average conductor cross-section of 0.2 mm 2 to 1.5 mm 2 (AWG 16 to 24) can be connected. Unshielded lines: Use unshielded lines for the digital inputs and outputs as well as for the voltage supply. Fig.10-28: Connecting lines to tension spring connectors Proceed as follows to connect unshielded lines to the tension spring connector: 1. Wire the connectors as required according to the application. 2. Strip the line to a length of 8 mm. Wiring is provided without wire end sleeves. If wire end sleeves are to be used nevertheless, ensure that the wire end sleeves are properly crimped. 3. Put a screwdriver into the actuation slot of the corresponding terminal point (A in 10-28) so that the wire can be inserted into the opening of the spring. 4. Insert the wire (B in 10-28). 5. Pull the screwdriver out of the opening. This fixes the wire. For further information on the connection method, please refer to the Rexroth Inline PROFIBUS DP; Application Manual (see "Further documents" on page 6) Notice for Use of the Control above 2700 m above MSL General Information The control is designed for use up to 2700 m above MSL according to DIN (see also chapter 6 "Ambient Conditions" on page 15). If it is used above 2700 m above MSL, Bosch Rexroth cannot assume warranty. Therefore the user assumes responsibility if it used above 2700 m above MSL. To realize use above 2700 m above MSL, nevertheless, the user has to take appropriate measures, particularly the track resistance has to be ensured. For use up to 4000 m above MSL Bosch Rexroth recommends the following measures: Use an isolating transformer between the AC 400 V and AC 230 V network.
