8 The heating unit and tip of solderite stations use separated structure. This is very economic as compared to an expensive compound tip (Monolithic heating element and tip) We use comparatively low-cost ceramic heating element with long life and traditional tip structure. The service life of the heating element more than 2000 hours (it is more than 2 years if used normally). Economic Effects The accessory tip incorporates an optimized electroplated coating, developed specifically for lead-free soldering. This ensures long tip life and excellent thermal conductivity. This practice gives the operator a sense of higher production. While the tip of the iron is hotter the eutectic point of the solder has changed The adjustment has been the operator's only option in accommodating the slow recovery time of the solder station. This philosophy although based on good intent has repercussions for the product. First, soldering under high temperature above 400 will affect the reliability of soldering joint. The high temperature increases the likely hood of introducing oxidation into the solder joint which will eventually affect the reliability of product. The high temperature increases oxidation on the soldering tips and reduces there lifespan. Thus by increasing temperature you have increased rework, tip replacement cost, and the integrity of the product. Using the precision power system and multidimensional control method, employed in solderite products the operator does not have to increase the temperature in order to try to recover the response time of the tip. Solderite systems employ a switching power supply. Switching power supplies are a well- known product employed in many of today's products. Its advantages include a smaller lightweight design with a much more precise control of power distribution. The utilization of these advantages in our lead-free soldering stations has many benefits. The most significant is the ability to generate adequate power based on demand of the application. The result of the efficient power control is rapid thermal recovery time! The most challenging aspect of quality lead-free soldering stations is temperature control. The traditional means of achieving temperature control is based on a single absolute temperature value of the heat element as a control point. The single dimension control system can not evaluate the energy demand and working behavior of the heating element. Thus when the temperature of the of the tip drops rapidly the stations using traditional control scheme usually fail to react fast enough,and this lag time creates an error between the set temperature and the actual soldering temperature. Lead-free soldering aggravates this error, and this is the reason why conventional soldering station is hard to use in lead-free application.
