2 PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Our AAD AUTOMATIC ANNOUNCEMENT DEVICE is designed to automatically process incoming telephone calls, as follows : 1) It will ANSWER your incoming telephone calls 2) It will PLAY a MESSAGE ANNOUNCEMENT It can then either : Mode 1 - Hang Up immediately after the Message. Mode 2 - Play the Message and then Ring the attached Telephone(s). Mode 3 - Play the Message, Hook Flash and then Hang Up. AAD can be used on both PSTN Lines and also a PABX system. PSTN Lines : AAD is ideal for applications where you need to make an announcement to all incoming callers and then either Re-Ring the Telephone Line or Hang Up after the Message. PABX Line Inputs : AAD can be connected to any PSTN Line prior to the PABX, so that it can make an announcement to incoming callers and then either Re-Ring the Telephone Line or Hang Up after the Message. 3 FLASH CARDS (SD CARDS) AAD stores its Announcement Message on an SD Flash Card, which is supplied with AAD. The message can be of any length. Only One message should be loaded onto the card. Messages for AAD must be created in MP3 format. AAD can play MP3 Messages of any sampling rate. SD Flash Cards are completely non volatile, which means that your message is not lost in transport or when power is lost. The Flash Card can be overwritten many times, without any deterioration in quality. Our loading design allows the Flash cards to be changed in seconds because it is hot swappable, so you do not even need to power the device down before doing this. A 2GB SD Flash card is supplied with this device.. Flash Card Socket National Communications Page 3

AAD will then play your Announcement Message to your caller. Your Announcement Message can be of any duration. A sample announcement is pre-loaded onto your SD card named : Recording Announcement.MP3 At the completion of the announcement message, AAD will then commence RINGING all telephones connected to it. You can increase this time up to 5 minutes (99 Rings). National Communications Page 5
6 MODE 3 OPERATION For PABX Extensions Only AAD will answer your incoming telephone calls after 2 rings. You can change the number of rings until answer from 1 to 19. AAD will then play your Announcement Message to your caller. Your Announcement Message can be of any duration. A sample announcement is pre-loaded onto your SD card named : Recording Announcement.MP3 At the completion of the announcement message, AAD will then : 1) HOOK FLASH 2) WAIT FOR A ROGRAMMED DURATION (default is 0.1 sec) 3) HANG UP This procedure will allow the Incoming Call to be taken back by the PABX System and then transferred to a programmed Extension or Extension Group. If the programmed Extension or Extension Group does not Answer the call by a preset number of rings, the call will be sent back to the AAD and the full process will repeat until the call is answered. Page 6 National Communications
7 MP3 BASED MESSAGES Messages used with AAD must be prepared in MP3 format. AAD can use MP3 files of any sampling rate up to 320kbps. As the telephone line is mono only, your MP3 file should be created (saved) in mono format. A 128kbps (or greater) mono MP3 file will produce the best results. Messages used with AAD should be copied to the supplied Flash card, which should then be inserted into the SD Card slot on the rear of AAD. Messages are transferred to your Flash card, using your PC s SD Flash card programmer. USB SD FLASH CARD PROGRAMMER If your PC does not have an SD Flash Card slot, then you should use an external USB based Flash Card programmer, which connects to a USB port of your PC. These are available from National Communications or your local Dealer. Your PC will provide the Flash card programmer with a separate drive letter. You will then be able to transfer files to the SD card drive, with Windows Explorer. National Communications Page 7
