The only component which is different is the Modular Modem Unit (MMU). By replacing a CMU with an MMU, you can easily transition from a PTP 800 system to a PTP 810 to achieve greater capacity, add TDM, and/or support XPIC. The PTP 810 Modular Modem Unit (MMU) is frequency independent and operates reliably in temperatures from 23 to +131 F (-5 to +55 o C). The MMU is designed to be installed inside your building or equipment housing structure. PTP 810 Modular Modem Unit (MMU) PTP 810 Split-Mount systems include an ODU and MMU. Based on local regulatory conditions, you may choose between two ODUs ODU-A which is available for 6 to 38 GHz frequencies and ODU-B which is available for the 11, 18 and 23 GHz frequencies (FCC/IC only). The ODU and MMU are connected by a single IF cable. PTP 810 ODUs are frequency dependent and operate reliably in temperatures from -27 to +131 F (-33 to +55 o C). 10 A typical PTP 810 Split-Mount 1+0 link consists of two ODUs and two MMUs, with one ODU and MMU at each end of the link. In addition to the ODUs and MMUs, a link will require antennas (one at each end of the link), plus the appropriate cables and accessories. A typical PTP 810i All-Indoor 1+0 link consists of two IRFUs and two MMUs, with one IRFU and MMU at each end of the link. The IRFU is the same IRFU as is used with the PTP 800i All-Indoor system. PTP 810i All-Indoor systems operate in the 6 and 11 GHz radio frequencies (FCC/IC only) and the FCC 7 GHz frequency. IRFUs are frequency dependent and operate reliably in temperatures from 23 to +122 F (-5 to +50 o C). The IRFU and MMU are connected by a single IF cable. In addition to the IRFUs and MMUs, a link requires antennas (one at each end of the link), plus the appropriate cables and accessories. A waveguide connects the IRFU to the antenna. Indoor Radio Frequency Unit (IRFU) 2.3 SYSTEM CONFIGURATIONS PTP 810 and 810i systems offer you a wide array of configurable link-protection options, so you can enable the alternative that best meets your infrastructure, applications, and budgetary requirements. Options include: 1+0 Non-Protected: A 1+0 link is a single link with no redundancy protection. In the event of a hardware failure, the link would incur an outage until the failed unit is replaced. Non-redundant links are good choices where you would not incur significant consequences in the event of a communication outage. After deployment, you can upgrade a 1+0 link to a 1+1 link by installing the standby modem and power supply. 1+1 Protected with No Diversity: A 1+1 link is a single link with HSB redundancy protection. In the event of a hardware failure, the link will continue working while the failed unit is being replaced. The PTP 810 supports 1+1 protection, with or without spatial or frequency diversity. 1+1 Protected with Spatial Diversity: This 1+1 link also provides HSB redundancy protection for the modem cards, ODU, and power supply. In the event of a hardware failure, the link will continue working while the failed unit is being replaced. With spatial diversity, one transmitter sends information to two receivers to provide HSB protection, and the switching is hitless. At the receiving end, the best data stream is chosen and forwarded. 1+1 Protected with Frequency Diversity: A 1+1 link with frequency diversity provides redundancy protection for the modem cards, ODU, and power supply. In the event of a hardware failure, the link will continue working while the failed unit is being replaced. When choosing frequency diversity, two radio frequencies are used, both radios at each end are active, and the receive and transmit switching are hitless. 11 2+0 East/East Configuration: With a 2+0 configuration for link aggregation, each MMU is connected to two ODUs. Both ODUs transmit and receive in the same direction to the ODUs at the opposite end of the link to provide redundancy. 2+0 East/West Configuration: With this configuration, each MMU is setup in an East/West configuration with each MMU connected to two ODUs. One ODU transmits and receives in one direction of a ring or ribbon architecture, and the other ODU transmits and receives in the other direction. Sub-Network Connection Protection (SNCP)-Like Protected T1/E1: Ideal for ring deployments with both wireless and wired segments, this configuration enables interoperability between PTP 810 and third-party equipment. Protected Ethernet Ring: This configuration protects the network management system and the payload Ethernet network, and can perform self-healing operations. Rapid Spanning-Tree Protocol (RSTP) can restore connectivity in the event of an outage. Configuration Active Tx r Num ODU Pairs per Hop Num Ant. Pairs per Hop Mounting Num Freq. 12 2.4 MMU CONFIGURATIONS In addition to the array of redundancy options, you also have several MMU configuration models to meet your specific T1/E1, fiber, and Ethernet requirements. MMU CONFIGURATIONS Options Standard Standard Plus GigE Super PDH Capacity 1-16 T1/E1 + Ethernet + NMS 1-16 T1/E1 + Ethernet + STM-1 MUX/DEMUX + NMS 1-2 T1/E1 + Ethernet + NMS 1-42 T1/E1 + Ethernet + NMS Optional Additional T1/E1 Capacity 1-16 T1/E1 or 1-21 T1/E T1/E1 or 1-21 T1/E T1/E1 or 1-21 T1/E T1/E1 or 1-21 T1/E1 Optional Additional STM-1 Capacity 1-3 STM STM STM-1 2 STM AES ENCRYPTION PTP 810 and 810i systems support 128-bit AES encryption for network management. The AES is not configurable because it is auto-negotiated for SSH and HTTPS based on the setting of the network management client. 2.6 CROSS POLARIZATION INTERFERENCE CANCELLATION (XPIC) PTP 810 and 810i systems support XPIC functionality in 64, 128 and 256 QAM modulation modes at 28 MHz or above channel widths. XPIC allows you to double your throughput without increasing your channel bandwidth. To accomplish this, different data is transmitted simultaneously on the horizontal and vertical polarizations in the same channel. For an XPIC link, the PTP 810 MMU must be configured as a dual modem. To enable XPIC, you will need to purchase a license key. Two XPIC keys are required per XPIC link one key per MMU. 2.7 PTP LIGHTNING PROTECTION UNIT (PTP-LPU) Because PTP 800 and PTP 810 systems share the same ODUs, the same lightning protection kits can be used to protect your PTP 810 outdoor radio units. 15 2.9 WIRELESS MANAGER Flexibility is one of the hallmarks of our wireless solutions, especially when it comes to managing the wireless network. You can easily integrate with an existing third-party network management system; manage the wireless network over the Internet using a standard Web browser; and/or use our Wireless Manager, release 4.1 or higher as the wireless network management system. Cambium Wireless Manager (WM) helps organizations manage their wireless networks for maximum reliability and uptime. With WM, Point-to-Point and Point-to-Multipoint sites as well as any other SNMP-enabled devices can be monitored and managed from one live Google map-based view. Real-time polled network performance metrics and alarms shown on a unified map enable faster and more efficient issue response. When paired with our PTP solutions, WM adds these capabilities to PTP links: Status Monitoring: WM uses an SNMP status ping to determine if PTP devices in the WM inventory are still responsive and reachable via the network. Failed status checks result in a major alarm, which is prominently displayed. An alarm can alert you to failed, destroyed and/or stolen hardware, including problems such as denial-of-service attacks that make a device effectively offline. Configuration Monitoring: WM checks the configuration of each PTP device on a regular basis, and compares that configuration to the expected settings. If a discrepancy is detected due to unauthorized tampering with the device, as an example the system administrator is notified so that investigative and corrective action can be taken. Access Control: WM users can be limited in the scope of their WM activities, including limits on the devices they can view and manage as well as limits on the features they can use (e.g., readonly inventory listings versus writing configuration settings). Password access provides further control. Audit Trail: WM records the configuration actions of its own users, so that a history is maintained of what users changed the settings on each PTP device and when the changes were made. In the event of a problem with settings on a device, the system administrator can determine which user is responsible and assess the reasoning behind the changed configuration FCC LICENSE COORDINATION SERVICES For customers in the United States, we offer FCC license coordination services through our partnership with Comsearch. The service covers a link study, Prior Coordination Notification (PCN), FCC application filing, Schedule K completion, and a one-year license protection warranty. Below is an overview of these FCC licensing services: 6 ~ 38 GHz FCC microwave frequency coordination services include: Frequency selection, interference analysis and engineering documentation PCN and case resolution FCC application preparation and filing, with Schedule-K completion The microwave license-coordination service fee covers: A single path, including multiple frequency pairs within the same band, if requested Revisions to the original order at no additional cost before the license grant is provided such revisions are not for new paths One-year of frequency-protection service after the PCN is issued FCC licensing fee: The license coordination service fee does NOT include the FCC licensing fee ($660 per transmit site). 16 3.0 CONFIGURATION AND ORDERING This section of the Sales Guide describes the policies and procedures for ordering PTP 810 and PTP 810i solutions. 3.1 ORDERING A PTP 810 There are several key issues involved in configuring and ordering a PTP 810 or a PTP 810i system. This Sales Guide provides an overview of the ordering process. Complete ordering procedures with part numbers and descriptions can be found in the PTP 800 & PTP 810 Ordering Guide. STEP 1: PLAN AND OPTIMIZE LINKS To begin, you should complete a site survey. Both a physical and a radio-frequency analysis of the area should be conducted to evaluate: Availability and height of antenna-supporting structures Existence of foliage and other obstructions Environmental and seasonal issues Spectrum analysis for the path at desired and alternate frequencies Anticipated changes in path conditions Link capacity required to meet the needs: TDM capacity number of T1/E1, STM1/OC-3 ports Ethernet capacity number of Ethernet ports and capacity requirement Then you can use the Cambium PTP LINKPlanner tool to plan and optimize a single link or multiple links based on your specific applications and path requirements. PTP LINKPlanner greatly decreases the amount of time required to accurately predict PTP 810 link performance prior to purchase given certain assumptions about geography, distance, antenna height, transmit power, link capacity, and other factors. By changing input data, you can conduct what if scenarios and instantly see the effect on performance. When you have optimized the link to meet your requirements, LINKPlanner will provide vital information that can be given to your licensing agent to assist in completing the licensing application. Note: Path calculations for PTP 810 systems can be performed only with the Cambium PTP LINKPlanner. For that reason, you will want to attend one of the scheduled live or on-demand tutorials to begin using this tool as soon as possible. STEP 2: IDENTIFY AVAILABLE LICENSED FREQUENCIES After a PTP 810 system is configured, you will need to contact a local licensing agent for assistance in determining the RF bands available. The licensing agent will survey existing license holders to determine if your desired band will conflict with any of the existing licenses. When none of the license holders objects, you can apply for the license in the desired RF band. STEP 3: RECEIVE YOUR LICENSE OR PRIOR COORDINATION NOTIFICATION (PCN) After applying for your license, you will receive your license or PCN. It is important to note that you should not order your PTP 810 equipment until you have confirmation from your local regulatory agency indicating the frequency under which you will be operating. That way you will not order the wrong link components. PTP 810 Sales Guide from Release This document is intended for use by only 16

17 STEP 4: CONFIGURE YOUR LINK AND OBTAIN A BILL OF MATERIALS (BOM) After you have confirmation of the license frequency, use PTP LINKPlanner to configure your link. Once the link is configured to your requirements, the system will provide a detailed performance report that can be used to guide your installers through a speedy deployment. Simultaneously, LINKPlanner compiles a licensed-microwave Bill of Materials (BOM) to streamline the purchasing process. STEP 5: ORDER YOUR PTP 810 SYSTEM At this point, you can order your PTP 810 system using the BOM supplied by the PTP LINKPlanner. A typical order will include many components for each link being ordered. Selecting everything that you need is a five-step process as outlined in the following table: 1 SELECT PTP 810 MMU Models: Standard, Standard Plus, Gig-E, or Super PDH Modem: Single or dual modem Capacity Key: 10 Mbps to 600 Mbps; XPIC key MMU I/O Module: E1/T1 Modem Accessories: SFP module, rack mount kit, AC/DC adapter 2 SELECT RF UNIT Architecture: Split Mount or All Indoor Frequency: 6 ~ 38 GHz for ODU-A; 11, 18, or 23 GHz for ODU-B; 6, 7, or 11 GHz for IRFU For ODU-A or B: Define the T/R and sub-band For IRFU: Define the configuration as well as the Tx and Rx SELECT ANTENNA AND ANTENNA ACCESSORIES SELECT CABLE AND CABLE ACCESSORIES SELECT WARRANTIES, SERVICES, ETC. 18 3.2 SPLIT-MOUNT CONFIGURATIONS When ordering PTP 810 Split-Mount systems, there are a few installation issues that need to be addressed to ensure that your order contains all the materials you will need for deployment. It is important to remember that the antenna must be fitted with a Cambium ODU interface as shown in the following illustrations. Nearly all antennas and ODUs can be direct mounted for both single and dual polarization. In a direct mount configuration, the ODU is attached via clips directly to the antenna which is fitted with a Cambium ODU interface. 1+0 SPLIT-MOUNT SYSTEM WITH DIRECT MOUNT 2+0 SYSTEM WITH DIRECT MOUNT DUAL POLARIZATION ANTENNA A direct-mount, dual-polarization antenna has an Orthogonal Mounting Kit (OMK) included, which can support an ODU direct mount for a 2+0 configuration. With OMK, you can turn a single-polarization Valuline series antenna into a dual- polarization, direct-mount antenna for an ODU-A or ODU-B installation. PTP 810 Sales Guide from Release This document is intended for use by only 18

19 POLARIZATION 6 and GHz: Polarization depends on the antenna waveguide position. To change polarization, refer to the antenna installation procedure. The ODU rectangular waveguide interface must always be in alignment with the antenna waveguide input/output. 7, 8 and 38 GHz: Polarization depends only on the ODU position. For vertical polarization, make sure the arrow on the ODU cover is vertical. For horizontal polarization, turn the ODU 90 degrees. Horizontal Polarization Vertical Polarization ODU COUPLER MOUNTING KIT An ODU coupler-mounting kit is required for a 1+1 or 2+0 configuration (two links sharing the same antenna but running on different channels). The ODU coupler mounting kit supports direct mounting, using an Andrew-customized single-polarization antenna with a Cambium interface. 23 4.0 PTP 810 SERIES SALES TOOLS 4.1 BENEFITS WHO BENEFITS FROM A PTP 810 PURCHASE DECISION? The information below describes how organizations such as carriers, government agencies, public safety agencies, utility companies, transportation organizations, service providers, and a wide variety of enterprises can benefit from our PTP 810 and PTP 810i solutions. How can I cost-justify the purchase of a PTP 810 solution? The main benefit from a PTP 810 or a PTP 810i solution is that you can leverage your existing TDM investment while gaining the cost-saving and performance-boosting advantages of an IP-based Ethernet network. In addition, there are several other opportunities to reduce your costs and improve efficiency, including: Migrate from TDM to an IP-based Ethernet network without experiencing communication interruptions Eliminate or reduce monthly leased-line charges by replacing or augmenting leased lines Provide cost-effective, high-capacity backhaul for LTE, 4G and WiMAX networks Choose among several configurations to meet your individual infrastructure and application requirements Select the architecture Split-Mount or All-Indoor that provides you the most efficiency and cost effectiveness Communicate over a long distance (up to 50 miles or 80 km) in a single hop Double throughput with XPIC up to 700 Mbps full duplex Save the costs of purchasing external switches and the associated cabling costs through our embedded L2 Ethernet and TDM switches Provide network redundancy for wired or fiber networks Deliver very high capacity over a single port for applications such as video surveillance, VoIP, ondemand video and network redundancy Scale throughput to meet application and budgetary requirements Can you meet our very demanding training needs? We provide training on how to configure, install, manage and operate PTP 810 and PTP 810i links, including support for link planning before deployment. Our illustrated Installation and User Guides provide easy-to-understand deployment, operation and management instructions. We re so overstretched now. How much are we going to have to learn? Prior to purchase, you can quickly and easily plan and optimize your system with our Cambium PTP LINKPlanner tool and obtain a complete BOM to simplify ordering procedures. PTP 810 and PTP 810i systems are optimized for fast and easy deployment, reducing deployment man-hours and stress. Operation is intuitive with the industry-standard user interface, and the systems work with your existing network management systems via the User GUI or SNMP. Plus, we offer FCC license coordination services to assist with licensing procedures (available in U.S.). How will this help us grow the network? The key factor is that with a PTP 810 or a PTP 810i solution, you can support new IP-based applications on the same platform with your TDM applications. This means you can start benefiting from the cost-savings and performance-enhancing advantages of packet transport without sacrificing your existing TDM investment. In addition: Scalable throughput capacity allows you to add throughput (up to 700 Mbps full duplex with XPIC) to efficiently handle high-bandwidth applications such as high-definition video, VoIP and video surveillance. Because the radios offer true link aggregation, you can supply very high capacity over a single channel, providing excellent productivity and flexibility over your existing RF channels. The PTP 810i offers high transmit power that can increase link availability and support longdistance hops of up to 50 miles (80 km). PTP 810 Sales Guide from Release This document is intended for use by only 23

24 What design and deployment assistance can we get? Working with our authorized partners, we provide a variety of services to end customers globally. We can help you design the system, plan the links, assist with licensing, and help install the system. After installation, we can work with you to ensure smooth operations and migration from TDM to IP. With more than 60,000 PTP systems and more than 3.5 million PMP devices deployed worldwide, we have the experience and expertise to help you achieve your communication goals. 4.2 NEED WHAT ARE THE COMMUNICATION PRIORITIES? The need for a PTP 810 or a PTP 810i solution may be directly tied to a specific plan, priority, goal or initiative. One way to identify these initiatives is to ask the relative priority of the following areas of the communications network (critical, high, medium, low priority or no priority). Indicating a priority in any of these areas can open a discussion about managing the network and, ultimately, the need for a PTP 810 solution. Typical Communication Priorities Migrating from TDM to packet-based Ethernet Reducing or eliminating leased-line charges Supplying high-capacity backhaul for LTE, 4G and WiMAX networks Providing convenient access to electronics without climbing a tower Extending high-performance communication into areas with no fiber access Increasing backbone capacity Improving backhaul performance and/or removing network bottlenecks Monitoring facilities and equipment Supplying connectivity or backhaul for bandwidth-intensive applications Supporting users or subscribers in remote areas Offering new IP-based services to users or subscribers Backhauling sensors, surveillance cameras, and/or control systems Providing network redundancy Provisioning, configuring, and managing the wireless network Backhauling Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems Supplying connectivity and backhaul for field personnel and teleworkers PTP 810 Sales Guide from Release This document is intended for use by only 24

25 4.3 VISION WHAT CAN I DO WITH A PTP 810 OR A PTP810i SOLUTION? How will a PTP 810 or a PTP 810i solution enhance our communications? Designed as a hybrid solution, PTP 810 systems are designed to help you integrate new and existing IP-based services while still using elements of your legacy TDM systems. With native TDM and native Ethernet on one platform, your transition to packet-based Ethernet technology will be much smoother and more cost effective. A hybrid solution enables your new and legacy systems to work together seamlessly while enabling a TDM to Ethernet migration with virtually no communication interruptions. True link aggregation, provides much greater capacity and ultimately greater throughput over a single channel. The system s high throughput up to 700 Mbps full duplex with XPIC lets you handle highbandwidth applications such as high-definition video and video surveillance with ease. A PTP 810i system s high transmit power lets you traverse a distance of up to 50 miles (80 km) in a single hop and increase link availability. Typically, systems can be deployed within a day or two, allowing you to respond quickly to user or subscriber requests for new services. Can a PTP 810 or a PTP 810i solution be deployed without adding great cost or burden to my IT resources? We have taken great care to minimize your learning curve and maximize ease of use. At the same time, PTP 810 and PTP 810i systems are designed to help you reduce your capital expenditures and operating expenses. Significant savings can be realized by replacing leased-lines services with our carrier-grade wireless solution. The systems include an embedded L2 Ethernet switch and embedded TDM switch, saving you the costs of external switches and the associated cabling. Installation ease and flexible network management options help you reduce your deployment and management man-hours. Our illustrated Installation and User Guides provide step-by-step instructions for installing and operating the PTP 810 systems. PTP 810 radios are extremely durable and built to withstand the rigors of outdoor conditions, helping to lower your troubleshooting and maintenance costs. Can PTP 810 solutions give me added bandwidth? The systems offer configurable channel widths from 7 to 80 MHz, giving you the flexibility to configure your system for maximum efficiency. Link aggregation offers you very high capacity operations over a single channel to maximize performance. How can PTP 810 solutions maximize transmission quality and minimize downtime? Packet-based networks move massive amounts of information very efficiently and at much lower costs than traditional circuit-switched networks. However, migrating from TDM to an IP-based Ethernet network is a long-term process that can impose communication interruptions. Employing a hybrid approach can be an excellent solution to help you transition more smoothly and efficiently. Because our PTP 810 solutions support native TDM and native Ethernet on one platform, you can support new and expanded IP-based devices and applications while still using elements of your legacy TDM systems. In addition, the systems support both Fast Ethernet and Gigabit Ethernet, making them ideal to handle the sporadic bursts of high-volume traffic served by Internet applications. Will network management be complicated with a PTP 810 or PTP 810i solution? You can choose to use your existing network management system, manage your wireless network using a standard Web browser, or use our Cambium Wireless Manager, version 4.1 or higher, as your wireless NMS. The systems also support Command Line Interface (CLI). PTP 810 Sales Guide from Release This document is intended for use by only 25
