1 Datasheet TereScope Medium Rate Family Providing low-cost, high-speed wireless connectivity for the last mile Overview The TereScope medium rate family of Free-Space Optics (FSO) products provides low-cost, high-speed wireless connectivity for a variety of last-mile applications. Whether you need narrowband voice or broadband data connectivity, our products offer scalable, wireless alternatives to leased lines. Operating at data rates of 1 Mbps to 155 Mbps speeds, TereScope medium rate systems are deployable in less than one day, without requiring right-of-way or government permits for installation, providing you with communication links in hours instead of weeks or months. Performance The medium rate TereScope series provides for 1 Mbps to 155 Mbps wire speed connectivity for distances of up to 4.2 km. Reliability All TereScope medium rate systems are extremely reliable with a MTBF (Mean Time Between Failures) of more than 10 years. Technology The TereScope products use multiple transmit aperture technology (3 and 4 transmitters) to ensure high performance in adverse weather conditions. The receiver of the long-range TereScope versions has a10 diameter to overcome scintillation and other atmospheric noises in hot or cold weather. Heating All our midrange systems are equipped with our special internal air circulation feature, based on dissipation of the power supply heat. This prevents the formation of condensation on the lenses under all weather conditions without the need for additional heating at low temperatures. Safety MRV offers this equipment based on low power VCSELs and LED. All TereScope models are eye and skin safe at the aperture and comply with eye safety Class 1M. (Except for the TS4900 long distance system which complies with the 3R standard) Features Rates between MBps Distances up to 4.2 km Supports protocols: Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, T1, E1, E3, T3,E3 Token Ring, FDDI, OC-1, OC-3, STM-0, STM-1, SMPTE and Clear Channel License-free operation Visual then received power measurement alignment Rapid deployment Connection to dry contact box (RSM-DC) - optional Weatherproofing: IP66 Secure transmission Eye safety Class 1M (4900 3R) Remote SNMP management Applications Point-to-Point LAN extension Voice and Data Building to building Last-mile connectivity Mesh networking Base station connectivity LAN/MAN environments Temporary or permanent installation Cross border links Disaster recovery Cellular networks Not sure what solution best fits your needs? 2 SNMP Management TereScope is fully managed by using the SNMP option. SNMP monitoring can be done via MegaVision Web, MRV s SNMP Element Management web-based system or any other SNMP browser. Dry Contacts The TereScope medium nrate systems can be equipped with a dry contact option that enables interfacing to dry contacts based local and remote management and monitoring systems. TereScope 155 PS The TereScope 155 systems provide high-speed wireless connectivity for the metro area. Offering data rates ranging from 34 to 155 Mbps, at up to 2.2 Km, these systems prevent the need for costly and time-consuming fiber runs in developed areas. The data rate is settable by dip-switches on the TereScope s back panel. The factory preset is for 34 Mbps (E3), 4E1, 100 Mbps (Fast Ethernet and FDDI) and 155 Mbps; if another speed is required, within the Mbps range, please contact us for necessary adjustments. All TereScope 155 PS systems can be equipped with the built-in link redundancy option. Systems equipped with this option will enable a switch over of the TereScope connection to an alternative link in case of extremely bad weather conditions. One of the alternative switch-over options is the Fusion Ethernet radio back up option described below. All TereScope 155 PS systems operate at a Bit Error Rate better than 10 E-12. TS-155PS supports STM-1, OC-3, Fast Ethernet, OC1, STM-0, FDDI, E3, T3 protocols. TereScope 155/F (4900) long distance The TereScope 4900 is designed for long range implementations up to 4.2 Km and supports the following dip-switch speed settings: 155 Mbps: STM-1, OC-3, ATM 143 Mbps: SMPTE 100 Mbps (Fast ethernet, FDDI) 51 Mbps: OC-1, STM-0 45 Mbps: T3 34 Mbps: E3 Clear channel: Mbps transparent If another speed is required, please contact us for necessary adjustments. The TereScope 4900 features an internal clock function that enables unlimited link chaining.
3 OPTICALS OACCESS LU T I O N S TereScope Fusion (option for TS155 PS) Maximizing Link Availability in ALL Weather Conditions (Antenna) The TereScope Fusion option was designed to combine the best features of two transport media, laser light and radio waves, to form a single, seamless, unlicensed wireless communication link between network devices. By leveraging both technologies, we can provide the % availability that your network requires. The TereScope Fusion option consists of a TereScope 155 PS system with a built-in link redundancy option with an optical wireless link that provides Fast Ethernet connectivity as the primary link and Ethernet RF (802.11b) as the backup link. (Modem) These systems operate in most weather conditions, including heavy rain, snow and fog, to nearly 100% link availability. Ease of installation and freedom from licensing make these systems very simple to deploy. Protocol: Frequency: 10Base-T GHz ISM band GHz Output Power: -4 to 24 dbm Sensitivity: -85 dbm Operating Power: 110/220 V AC, 500/250 ma Interface: Shielded RJ45 TereScope 34 The TereScope 34 systems can be rapidly deployed to provide clear channel (Open Protocol) wireless links of 1-34 Mbps full duplex, at ranges of up to 2.6 Km, with F/O interfaces. All TereScope 34 systems operate at a Bit Error Rate better than 10 E-9. The TereScope 34 supports any protocol within the range of 1 to 34 Mbps, such as Token Ring, E1/T1, E2/T2, Optical Ethernet, E3, 16E1, etc. TereScope 10 The TereScope 10 systems can be rapidly deployed to provide optical wireless Ethernet links of 10 Mbps full duplex, at ranges of up to 3.2 Km. The TereScope 10 systems are equipped with a standard 10 BaseTX interface. TereScope 10 provides full 10 Mbps wire speed on the airlink to enable full Ethernet performance for your campus LAN/MAN environment, when fiber optic cable is difficult to obtain. All TereScope 10 systems operate at a Bit Error Rate better than 10 E-9. For Ethernet data traffic, TereScope 10 is an utmost cost-effective solution for enterprises and carriers.
4 TereScope 2 The TereScope 2 systems provide optical wireless connectivity for E1 and T1 based networks. In enterprises, it connects PABX to PABX and it is also used in cellular applications, connecting a base station to the network. It, thus, saves the need for E1/T1 lines licenses, or applying for radio frequencies (for RF connectivity). All TereScope 2 systems operate at a Bit Error Rate better than 10 E-9. The TereScope 2 systems provide wireless data links of Mbps or 1.55 Mbps, at ranges of up to 4.1 Km. It enables immediate and easy connectivity with BNC or STP interface, at full speed and with minimum delay. TereScope MUX The TereScope Mux systems can be rapidly deployed to provide wireless data/voice links of 4 built-in multiplexed E1 or T1, at ranges of up to 3.2 Km. These systems can be quickly installed deployed in almost any environment. The TereScope Mux series provides high-speed optical wireless connectivity for voice-based networks, as cabling is difficult to obtain and leased lines are too expensive. With a compact and simple design, the TereScope Mux series has 4xE1 or 4xT1 interfaces for your network devices. For the transmission of multiple E1 or T1 connections TereScope Mux is an extremely cost-effective solution.
5 TereScope for the Enterprise Connecting the networks of multiple buildings or campuses is never a simple task. Rather than waiting for your communications provider to run fiber to your buildings, our TereScope systems allow you to expand your network on your own, as your needs evolve. Additionally, if you already have fiber running between your buildings, TereScope links can be used as backup systems to further fortify and secure your network. TereScope for the Carrier As a Service Provider, your challenge is to supply the timely telephony and data services needed by your customers while minimizing your rollout costs. TereScope systems can be deployed on a rooftop or indoors behind a window, on a pay-as-you-grow basis, without requiring permits or licensing for installation. TereScope links also provide your customers with communication links quickly and cost-effectively. This translates into faster service for your customers and a quicker return on your infrastructure investment. With data rates of 1.5 Mbps to 1,250 Mbps (1.25 Gbps), the TereScope solutions supply ample bandwidth at low cost. The FSO Advantage FSO has a number of advantages over other fixed wireless technologies: Ultra High Bandwidth The components used in FSO technology are similar to those found in fiber optic cable. Therefore, FSO gives you the high data rates previously provided only by fiber optics. Rapid Deployment Time TereScope units are small, portable devices that resemble security cameras. Their portability, combined with license free operation, means that once a site is ready it only takes a few hours to have your link up and running. Secure Transmission The beam that transmits your data is very narrow and invisible, making it nearly impossible to intercept. Protocol Compatible FSO links work with a variety of protocols, such as: Ethernet, Fast Ethernet, Gigabit Ethernet, FDDI and ATM can all be transmitted through TereScope units with no problem. Safe To Use All TereScope models are eye and skin safe at the aperture. Major Cost Savings With TereScope links, you own your bandwidth. Avoiding the recurring costs of leased lines and licensing costs, your return on investment can be realized in just a few months. Why MRV Backed by over twenty years of research and development in the field of Free Space Optics, MRV is the market leader in FSO technology. With more than 6000 links deployed worldwide, MRV has proven its experience in selling, installing and servicing this equipment more than any other FSO vendor.
