Setup Keys and Displays The only controller programming and commands that are covered in this manual are what has been deemed necessary to run the heat package associated with the purchased machine. For more information on the controllers, please refer to the original manufactures website at Upper Display: In the Home Page, displays the process value, otherwise displays the value of the parameter in the lower display Zone Display: Indicates this controller s Standard Bus address in hexadecimal (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, A, b, c, d, E, F, H) Lower Display: Indicates the set point or output power value during operation, or the parameters whose value appears in the upper display EZ Key: This key can be programmed to do various tasks, such as starting a profile Figure 13: Keys and Displays Infinity Key: Press to back up one level or press and hold for two (2) seconds to return to the home page Advance Key: Advances through parameter prompts Temperature Units Indicator Lights: Indicates whether the temperature is displayed in Fahrenheit or Celsius Output Activity: Number lights indicate activity of outputs 1-5 Percent Units Indicator: Lights when the controller is displaying values as a percentage or when the open loop set point is displayed Profile Activity: Lights when a profile is running. Flashes when a profile is paused Communications Activity Flashes when another device is communicating with this controller Up and Down Keys: In the home page, adjusts the set point in the lower display. In other pages, changes the upper display to a higher or lower value or changes a parameter Error Code The controller has been programmed so that the only error code that should appear is a message warning that the temperature of the blanket has exceeded fail safe temperature setting which will be indicated by the toggling between the normal settings and letters [Li.h2] in the Upper Display and [Attn] in the lower display and a If the message appears, shut down the heating element, allow the unit to cool and begin investigation as to the cause. Once the condition has been fixed, the message can be cleared by pressing the ADVANCE KEY and then using the UP and DOWN ARROW KEYS to find the CLEAR COMMAND [ CLr]. Press the ADVANCE KEY one more time to clear the message A 12 of 43
Getting Started Once the heat controllers have been turned on, the machine and its contents will get hot. Use caution when working with the machine Read all manufacturer s warning and material MSDS to know the specific hazards of the material used. Wear respirator, gloves and other protective clothing as necessary before dispensing material. Figure 14: Turning on the Heater Control Module 1. The machine should arrive fully assembled, programmed and ready to go. After filling the tanks with material, activate any of the necessary heat controllers by turning the selector switch to the ON Position 2. The Controller will already be in the HOME PAGE which displays the ACTIVE PROCESS VALUE (The current temperature of active probe) on top and the ACTIVE SET POINT (The desired material temperature) on the bottom. To adjust the set point, simply press the UP or DOWN ARROWS to the desired temperature Figure 15: Home Page 3. Other values can be seen while in the home page by pressing the ADVANCE KEY and the INFINITY KEY to move back and forth THE UNITS ALL COME PRE-PROGRAMMED FROM THE FACTORY AND IT IS NOT RECOMMENDED THAT YOU CHANGE ANY PARAMETERS FROM THE HOME PAGE MENU EXCEPT FOR YOUR TEMPERATURE SET POINTS A 13 of 43
4. To get to any of the pages needed for programming or adjustments, you must first return to the HOME PAGE. To return to the home page from anywhere, press and hold the infinity key for two (2) seconds Figure 14: Getting to the HOME SCREEN 5. To get from the HOME PAGE to the OPERATIONS PAGE, hold down BOTH ARROW KEYS for THREE (3) SECONDS. The Operations page should look similar to the image below Figure 15: Getting to the Operations Page 6. To get from the HOME PAGE to the SETUP PAGE, hold down BOTH ARROW KEYS for SIX (6) SECONDS. The Setup page should look similar to the image below Figure 16: Getting to the Setup Page A 14 of 43
Home Page The Home page can be set to view up to 20 different parameters. However, as the default setting that leaves Graco s factory a user can: - Single Probe Units: Monitor the Blanket Temperature - Dual Probe Units: View the Active Process Value (Current Material Temperature) in the Upper Display and the Current Set Point (Desired Material Temperature) in the Lower Display. Adjust the Set Point by pressing the UP and DOWN ARROW Keys Monitor the blanket temperature by pressing the ADVANCE KEY or the INFINITY KEY Changing Temperature Display Units The Default factory setting on the controllers is Fahrenheit. To Change the units to Celsius: 1. Hold down BOTH ARROW KEYS for SIX SECONDS to get to the SETUP MENU (See figure 16 to verify) 2. Press the UP ARROW TWICE to get to the GLOBAL SUB-MENU (will appear in the upper display as [glbl]) 3. Press the ADVANCE KEY ONCE to get to the Temperature Units Screen 4. Press the UP ARROW ONCE to change from Fahrenheit to Celsius 5. Press the INFINITY KEY TWICE to return to the Home Screen A 15 of 43
Resetting the Controller If, for some reason, something on the controller has been changed and the problem cannot be easily rectified, the Graco Factory Pre-sets can be reset as can Watlow s. 1. To reset, make sure the Home Screen is what is showing and hold down the INFINITY and the ADVANCE KEYS together for 6 seconds. The Factory Page will then appear. Figure 17: Getting to the Factory Pages 2. Press the UP ARROW KEY until the Upper Display reads [diag] for the Diagnostics Menu 3. Press the ADVANCE KEY until the Lower Display reads [USr.r] for User Restore Set. Press the UP ARROW KEY once so that the Upper Display reads [Set1] and then press the INFINITY KEY until you return to the Home Page. Your Graco Factory Settings have now been restored. 4. To reset to the Watlow factory settings, please refer to their website at for more information. All of the information provided from here to the end of the manual is for informational and repair purposes only. It is not recommended that any of these menus be entered into or any of the values changed A 16 of 43
