7 Preface Basic Input/Output System (also known as BIOS) is a firmware program stored on a chip in the system mainboard. Introduction BIOS includes system BIOS, ME firmware and PCI Express devices option ROMs. System BIOS is EFI BIOS structure while ME firmware is Intel Node Management firmware and option ROM includes PXE option ROM. About this Manual This manual contains information about the system BIOS and discusses how to configure the system by changing the settings of the BIOS parameters. Chapter 1 contains information regarding the BIOS setup, hotkeys, menu bar and navigation keys. Chapters 2 to 8 contain detailed description of the BIOS menus, submenus and functions. 8 1 BIOS Setup 1.1 Entering BIOS Setup Press <Del> during the Power-On-Self-Test (POST) to enter the BIOS Setup menu, otherwise, POST will continue with its test routines. 9 1.3 Menu Bar There are seven tabs on the BIOS Menu bar on the top of the screen: Main: Shows the BIOS version, Processor and System Memory information. You can set the System Time and System Date here. Advanced: Sets the Advanced settings for CPU, Memory, SATA, USB, and Super IO. IntelRCSetup: Sets the processor, power, common RefCode, QPI, memory, IIO, PCH, miscellaneous, Server ME Debug and Server ME configurations, runtime error logging and reserve memory. Server Mgmt: Allows the user to configure server management features. Security: Sets the system security features. Boot: Sets the Boot Settings Configuration, Boot Device Priority and Hard Disk Drive. Save & Exit: Allows the user to choose whether to save or discard the configuration changes made on other Setup screens. Use < Enter >, <Tab > or < Shift-Tab > key or to select a field on the menu bar. SV7221G2 Series BIOS User Manual 9

11 2 Main Menu The Main menu describes the BIOS information, CPU information, memory information, PCH information Board ID and FAB ID. You can also set the system date and time. SV7221G2 Series BIOS User Manual 11

12 3 Advanced Menu The Advanced menu allows you to set up Trusted Computing, Super IO Configuration, Serial Port Console Redirection, PCI Subsystem Settings, Network Stack Configuration, CSM Configuration, Wiwynn Options and USB Configuration. Warning: Setting the wrong values in the Advanced menu may cause the system to malfunction. 15 3.2 Serial Port Console Redirection Console Redirection enables or disables the console redirection function. Default is Enabled. SV7221G2 Series BIOS User Manual 15

16 3.2.1 Console Redirection Settings Terminal Type VT100: ASCII char set. VT100+: Extends VT100 to support color, function keys, etc. VT-UTF8: Uses UTF8 encoding to map Unicode chars onto 1 or more bytes. ANSI: Extended ASCII char set. VT100 VT100+ VT-UTF8 ANSI Bits per second Selects serial port transmission speed. The speeds on both sides should be the same. 17 Parity Stop Bits Flow Control VT-UTF8 Combo Key Support Recorder Mode Putty KeyPad Redirection After BIOS POST A parity bit can be sent with the data bits to detect some transmission errors. Even: parity bit is 0 if the no. of 1's in the data bits is even. Odd: parity bit is 0 if no. of 1's in the data bits is odd. Mark: parity bit is always 1. Space: Parity bit is always 0. Mark and Space Parity do not allow for error detection but they can be used as an additional data bit. Stop bits indicate the end of a serial data packet. (A start bit indicates the beginning). The standard setting is 1 stop bit. Communication with slow devices may require more than 1 stop bit. Flow control prevents data loss from buffer overflow. When sending data, if the receiving buffers are full, a 'stop' signal can be sent to stop the data flow. Once the buffers are empty, a 'start' signal can be sent to restart the flow. Hardware flow control uses two wires to send start/stop signals. Enables or disables VT-UTF8 Combination Key Support for ANSI/VT100 terminals. Enable this mode to allow sending of text only. This is to capture Terminal data. Selects the Function Key and KeyPad on Putty. Sets the redirection after BIOS POST. Always Enable means Legacy console Redirection is enabled for Legacy OS. BootLoader means that legacy console redirection is disabled before booting to Legacy OS. 21 3.6 Trusted Computing This function enables or disables BIOS support for security device. O.S. will not show Security Device. TCG EFI protocol and INT1A interface will not be available. Security Device Sup Schedules an operation for the Security Device. NOTE: Your Computer will reboot during restart in order to change the state of the security device.
